Top 10 Best Super Smash Bros. Brawl Characters
Choose the character you think is the best. Don't vote based solely on the tier list.Meta Knight may not be as strong, but it goes to show you that strength isn't everything. His recovery and speed make up for the loss of his power, including his smash. I'm surprised that others don't see this. Using MK is tricky but can become deadly if you know how to use him well. On a one-on-one playing field, he rules the battle, but up against three, it's challenging and even more so if you are on a small stage. Up against projectiles, it's also very difficult if you're using MK.
But there is a reason why I prefer him out of everyone. Not only is he the most mysterious, but he also suits how I play. I loved how I got a challenge in using a character that's not all about power. He doesn't need to be weakened nor have more strength in the new game (if he is in it, that is). He is perfect as he is and a great challenge for those who are playing him or up against him as an opponent. This shows that power and smashes aren't everything. It's how you use your character that makes all the difference.
Ike is usually good for beating low-tier characters and new players, haha. However, if you really know how to use Ike, how to flow with his movements and speed up his attacks, you can be quite formidable. His attacks are very powerful. With strategies such as evading and not getting too aggressive (like I do), you have a lower chance of dying. I would rank Ike at least in the top 5. Kirby shouldn't be number one. He's not that great (literally and figuratively). No offense to Kirby fans, just sharing my opinion.
Ike is the best character by far. If you put him in Shadow Moses Island, he will always win. Any character. Any level. In Shadow Moses, if you keep pressing A and block at least some attacks, you will definitely win. Here's my strategy: I break the left wall of Shadow Moses and then I get as close as possible without going too far, with the character right to the left of me, and press A. And don't even get me started on his special move. When Ike yells Great Aether, consider yourself dead. Well, hope you try my strategy. Bye.
Kirby? What can I say about him? Well, Kirby is a quick character. He's light and can defeat opponents with his RED FOOT OF JUSTICE. He's quite agile for a cream puff, but his hammer slows him down. I recommend using the hammer in the air since you get two swings instead of one when used on the ground. Kirby can also fly, which is useful because he's super light and can be easily blasted far from the stage. That's really the only significant issue. Other than that, he's just fun to play with.
I love Kirby! He is totally the best! I use Kirby all the time. Most of his attacks are strong, but the ones that are weak make up for it in speed. Kirby is also very fast and can jump really high. His special attacks are very strong, plus he can copy other characters' special abilities. Along with being a great character, he is very easy to use. I would recommend Kirby to everybody.
Kirby works amazingly well for almost any beginner. He was my favorite character for a very long time, and everyone I know started off with him. His ability to recover from most falls with floating, along with good agility and just enough damage output to make up for it, makes him perfect for the amateur who has not yet developed skill. I mean, spamming the rock attack works very well!
Sonic is the best because of two things: his speed and jump. These attributes allow him to travel across the map very quickly, enabling him to get items first and evade characters with hammers and other dangerous items. His moves are also very useful, including the ability to combo with a spin dash, pass through opponents, and traverse the map all in 2 seconds. His final smash is also rated as the best out there, and it's for a good reason.
On his home fighting arena, he's even more formidable because his spin roll/spin move makes him practically teleport. And since he's so fast and agile, he's almost always the one getting the smash ball. Using Sonic feels almost like cheating.
When I use Sonic, I usually win most of the time. Whether it's with items or without, I tend to win a lot with Sonic. Sometimes, when I play stock, I knock out the level 9 computer's first stock without taking any damage. That's how good I am with Sonic. Sure, he may be lightweight, but it doesn't matter because his speed makes up for it.
You can deal a lot of damage when you use the spin charge, and you can also deal a lot of damage with the aerial spin charge. When you're in midair and your opponent is charging his or her up smash, you can cancel it by using Sonic's spring jump. When you get Sonic's final smash, you are so screwed. It's impossible to survive Sonic's final smash because it has great speed, is invulnerable, and you can't die while using it. The only problem with Sonic's final smash is that it can be hard for the player to control. But if you can control him well, then there is no escape.
Just like Sonic's final smash problem, the only issue you will have by using Sonic is that it can be hard to control his speed. But like I said before, if you can handle it, then you will be great at using Sonic.
Snake is an extremely sneaky character. He has an excellent crawling ability, which allows him to dodge long-range attacks. He also has great attacks. These include explosives such as the grenade. He also has a great kick. This is why Snake is the best SSBB character.
Snake was just so OP that I did such amazing stuff that made me put my controller down in shock. Unfortunately, Smash 4 didn't want Snake in there, but it was probably because he was too OP.
I can wreck anyone with Snake. Nobody can hurt me without getting blown up. He's got range as well as powerful close attacks, and his dash attack is almost impenetrable.
Link is an excellent fighter and my best character on Nintendo. His skills are beyond reckoning, boasting a good mixture of speed and strength. At the beginning of my gameplay, I often chose Link to help me through Subspace Emissary. I'm quite accustomed to him when facing opponents who fight back. I once completed the game on hard with him, while I struggled to do so with other characters. My familiarity with him comes from my past experience with the Super Smash Bros. series.
He has several options in fighting from a distance: he can use arrows, pull out bombs, or use his boomerang. Up close, he is excellent as well, being able to parry any opponents coming by slashing his sword upward three times or using his spin attack. He has a tether grab and is considerably heavy, so there is always a good option to choose from no matter what situation I'm in. Recovery has really not been a problem for me very much with Link in the way some would say it is.
Falco has been a personal favorite of mine ever since I used him in Melee. I used his jumping abilities to aim for a perfect interception and other aerial attacks in general, allowing me to defeat the Giga Bowser challenge in Melee 7 times! Each time I won, I set a new record. The Giga Mario challenge was easier than the Bowser challenge that you had to complete to get to the Mario one, and I never lost on my first try! With or without using weapons, I bring level 9 computers down and out just as easily in Melee.
Plus, I love how Falco's design has enhanced and that he has more colors than when he did in Melee. He's my number one, no matter how much Ike and Capt. Falcon are my next favorites. Falco's Final Smash is a TANK! Come on, who doesn't love tanks? Its hover ability surpasses Fox's tank and lasts longer than Wolf's! I'm just glad Falco got into the top 10 as the lucky number 7, by the way.
Are you kidding me? He is better than Link! He's just a little ball of fury, I love him! His final smash is great! He is quick and strong, and light, so he can jump better. He can throw some mean attacks, even against some really good opponents.
He is the greatest version of Toon Link. He is so OP. His bomb is the perfect spamming move. The tether grab has so much potential for saving you. I just do not understand why he is so low on this list. I think that Toon Link is the smartest addition to any Smash Bros game. He is just too good.
He may not be as strong as Meta Knight, but people won't get angry at you for choosing him! His Boomerang is better than that tornado Link throws. He's smaller, so he's harder to hit, and he is a beast!
I started out with Ike, because he seemed pretty cool, but after falling off the map one too many times, I eventually got sick of him, and switched to Meta Knight. Then, I realized that Meta Knight got KO'd way too easily by characters like Ike and DK. So, I upgraded to Marth, and haven't had any other desires. But the best part is that people don't get pissed off when you use him in WiFi mode, unlike Kirby, Pikachu, and Meta Knight.
I love Marth's attacks and speed. They make him a formidable fighter, and his down-B (or down-2, whichever way you play), counter, is swag. Really swag. He's the like, millionth character I've used, but he has to be the best. I haven't owned as many people as I do with Marth with any other character.
He's actually pretty well balanced, if you ask me. Quick, jumps pretty high, good damage. He's also pretty good for chain grabs and can rack up damage with Dancing Blade. Counter can punish powerful moves with long starting up lag, and down tilt can edge-guard like a boss. Pity he only has one recovery move. And is a bit too tall for his own good. He may need a little getting used to, but after that... Boom.
Fox is the best character of them all! He's fast! His Fox Illusion can really strike other opponents without looking like a sneak attack. It's amazing how you can use his reflector, and it almost reflects anything sent toward you. His combo of kicks and punches is awesome! The Fire Fox attack has a great range for getting back on stage, as well as flaming people up, down, and side to side. He looks awesome, his talking is cool, and he's got Falco and Wolf on his side in this game! His outfit looks fantastic too! I say that Fox McCloud should be Number 1 on this list!
His blaster can deal a great amount of damage but still, no flinching... But don't get me started on the Landmaster Final Smash. It's huge, rolls and KO's enemies, hovers them across the border, and shoots them dead!
Fox's moveset is great for combos, making him an unstoppable air and land character. For a lot of the moves, like his Reflector, there is no warning when it's going to come, and his moves do a lot of damage in Boss Battles. His blaster can damage without the opponent moving, making it useful in Subspace Emissary where he can defeat Paratroopas and Poppants.
He is one of the only characters that can do Target Smash level 1 in 15 seconds, and he can damage a sandbag a lot to make it go far in the Home-Run Contest. The Landmaster can perform a variety of moves and can even lift players sky-high to KO them. In my opinion, then, Fox is my best and favorite character.
Put him higher on the list! Lucario deserves it so much. He is very fast and has a great aerial game. His final smash is better than Falcon Punch. Almost no one could think of something so good. Also, I love to compare Force Palm to Falcon Punch. No matter how I compare them, none of them win. If you master how to use Double Team (which I did), you can achieve a far launch. Lucario is great for edge guarding because his tilts are great. I beat my brother who played for 4 years longer than me. Lucario is my main, and he should be higher on the list. He is badass.
He is a bit slow to the punch, but he is never out of the fight. If you don't already know, he gets more powerful as his percent increases, making room for some crazy comebacks. One time in a tournament, I played against Marth and, after he got me to over 100%, I was unstoppable! Out of three stocks, I won with two left!
Not a bad character for a "just-under" top-tier character (ranked #11). I just have to say SCREW the tier, he is my second favorite character to use (only under Snake). Lucario is a very unique character with the power to grow stronger every hit he takes!
Bowser is probably the most badass and strongest character in the game. Even though he isn't very fast, he can still wipe out opponents easily and rack up some nice damage. You can even taunt people by grabbing them and performing a suicide bomb at the start of the game. Definitely my main.
I remember when I used Bowser, and then in the Wii, there was the iceberg stage. I used 1+left or right. I take the enemy to the lower part of the iceberg. They get stuck, and then the fish finishes them off for me.
Most underrated character in the game. I will admit he's slow. But he has some of the best KO and percentage racking abilities in the game (Bowser Bomb, Strong Side, Whirling Fortress, Fire Breath, etc.). And if you ask me, he should be at the top of this list.
Mario's spike can be very effective compared to most fighters if used properly. When an opponent is recovering, jump and use a fireball since it has some hit and travel with it. Once it's about to hit an opponent, use your spike, and they don't have time to react (most of the time it works). You can also use it if you're trying to recover since people try to push you away. Use a fireball, then do a double jump when you're recovering, spike, and then they're down a life, and you quickly recover back on stage. This is especially useful against characters with poor recoveries.
I sometimes charge at them from off the stage, use fire, spike, and still survive. But it does require some practice, as you need to know when and where exactly to shoot the fireball. Once you get the hang of it, it's not only a dangerous/good move/strategy, but a technique that looks stylish/cool, and you feel happy for executing it.
Mario is the strongest.
He must be number one.
All his attacks are strong, and nobody can beat him easily.
He is the strongest computer character too. It's more difficult to win against him as a computer character than as another character as a computer.
He is the best and number one.
Only vote for Mario.
Nobody gives Mr. Game and Watch the credit he deserves. He's really unique with his 2D design. He may have a lackluster stage in Brawl, and he's really light, meaning it isn't hard to KO him. However, he's been significantly upgraded in Brawl. His hilariously cheap standard ground attack makes it really tough for opponents to counter.
He can absorb projectiles with his bucket and unleash them back on opponents for a powerful attack. Using Judge is always a thrill, he's highly maneuverable, his recovery is amazing, his back air attack is a turtle, and I just have a fun time using him in general. He is so much better than he was in Melee. I'm eagerly waiting to see him in Smash Brothers 4, Mr. Game and Watch. I really am.
I think he is 4th in the game because when you hold 2, he takes out his gun and keeps shooting you. He also has very good blocking attacks. A lot of people think his hammer is a waste of time, but if you hit it at the right time, you can do some serious damage or turn someone into ice. I think his grab is one of the best in the game. When you press 2 and down at the same time, you can also do some serious damage. When you are going against a level 9 CPU, he is one of the few characters who can escape from a grab. This is why I like him. His jump is decent.
Pikachu is my main character because he is fast and can deliver lots of powerful combos, significantly damaging the enemy. He can also withstand a decent amount of hits. Pikachu is suitable for beginners but truly shines when used by an experienced player like myself. With Pikachu, I feel confident in any match unless my opponent defeats me first. I would recommend Pikachu against characters like Meta Knight, Captain Falcon, and Lucario. In my experience, the only character that really challenges Pikachu is Charizard.
Pikachu is really powerful and good at trolling. He is easy to spam, and when up against Little Mac, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Falco, Star Fox, Mega Man, and Wii character, all with 5 lives, I killed 2 of them (all five lives on both of them).
Pikachu is cheap but good. I practice with level 9 computers, and when I battle a Pikachu opponent, I know what's going to go down. Spams down special and special all day, every day. Ain't no joke. B+ Tiers in all games. Literally.
Yoshi is the best jack-of-all-trades in the game. He's difficult to launch, really strong, and great at recovery. His egg roll is the perfect move to use at the beginning of the game, and his egg bomb will destroy everything. It's funny when you use his B-move on the edge of the stage and watch your foe plummet to their doom in an egg. Vote Yoshi!
Yoshi should definitely be higher. Sure, his up-b move isn't very effective, but his down-b move is pretty tough to avoid and takes some time for the opponent to recover. The side-b move is my favorite because after hitting an enemy once in his rolling egg, he stays in it and can hit the opponent multiple times. He also has a good amount of speed and strength, and has a great special.
Surprised he's only at #20. I always own all of my friends as him with his ability to eat enemies, and his Final Smash!
This kid is more than he appears. The only bad thing about him is his PK Freeze, which is pretty useless, and his slow grab attack. However, he can technically use that grab as another recovery, along with PK Thunder. Not only that, but this attack makes it excruciatingly easy to grab Smash Balls, and since he can use it right away, there are no worries about others stealing the Smash Ball! Lucas also holds one of the strongest smashes, that being his smash up. He may not be the best character, but he does deserve a higher spot.
Lucas is awesome! He is definitely my winning character. What I enjoy about using him is that a lot of players tend to underestimate him, and this puts him at an advantage. Many seem to view him as Ness's clone, or the downgraded version of Ness. However, he has his perks. His Up + B (PK Thunder) attack goes through characters, unlike Ness's which disappears upon impact. This enables him to easily reach the smash ball or damage multiple opponents at once. Good lad. Thumbs up.
Pit is a very great character. He has good attacks that help him deflect objects, like his shield and spinning sword attack. Once you learn how to use him to your advantage, he turns out to be a very good character. In my list, he is number one, but most of the time he is underrated, and it puzzles me why.
Pit really has everything a character needs. He has nice attack power, knockback, attack range, aerial combat, two reflectors, a projectile, excellent recovery, decent weight, running speed, etc. He really has no weaknesses. Pit is probably the single most balanced, versatile character in the game. Even more so than Mario, who lacks knockback and firepower in his moves. It's too bad that his reputation is off thanks to noobish spammers.
Pit is heavily underrated. It is so easy to recover, and I know he's lightweight and easy to knock back, but he's fast enough to keep up and can use some incredible attacks in both incarnations of Smash he's in. Dark Pit's pretty much the same. Transformation and low-range final smashes are easily avoided.
Ganondorf's powers are easily the strongest in the game. Even with zero damage, one of his punches can almost knock a character off the map. However, each of his attacks takes a couple of seconds to power up. This means that to use these attacks, you would have to count on your opponent being in the right place at the right time, because when they see you beginning your attack, they could run away quickly. Quick characters like Fox could easily beat Ganondorf, being able to use attacks that would stop him from even getting a punch in.
Ganon's power is good, and he has somewhat decent combos, but he's awful in this game and has way too many weaknesses. He's got the worst recovery in the game, the shortest grabs in the game, and he can be outranged by Kirby and Meta Knight of all people, even though he's like the tallest character in the game. He can get exploited way too easily.
I like using Ganondorf, and I'm proud to admit that. You may be slow, but you are the heaviest hitter in the game. The thing with him is that you have to get used to him. It isn't hard to give up on him, but if you're willing to accept his flaws, you will be a complete Brawling beast with Ganondorf.
Samus has a great recovery after two jumps and has a very powerful set of moves. Her final smash is the best in the game! All my friends play this game a lot, and I just recently started playing and I destroyed them all with Samus.
Samus can be a beast if you know how to use her. She is so OP with her missiles and aura balls like Lucario. Personally, Meta Knight is my favorite, but Samus is a close second.
She is the most awesome character ever! She has stuff that comes with her suit that are super useful.
Um, why is Zero Suit Samus so low? I mean, her final smash is just turning into Samus, who is worse, and she isn't the strongest, but I always win with her. Her speed is incredible, and her whips are majorly strong. I always use her going against level 9 characters. The only other characters who might compare to her are Lucario and Falco. Overall, Zero Suit Samus is quick, strong with weapons, and overall awesome!
I think ZSS is an epic character, and I absolutely love using her down-b attack to dodge enemy attacks. Some of her smashes are good, and her up-b is a very long ledge grabber.
Agile, good for combos, does decent damage, has a good grab and good range. What's not to like?
Captain Falcon has two main Falcon Punches. To make a combo, first use the uppercut Falcon Punch and get the right timing to land a straight Falcon Punch, sending them flying. In conclusion, he is just a beast and OP!
Falcon Punch and Falcon Kick are some of the strongest moves in the game. Kirby is the worst character of all because you can't kick him since he's so short.
I feel like he should be higher. He's really fast, and his charge attacks are excellent.
Are you kidding me? Diddy Kong is rated in the top 3 in every SSBB tier list I've seen except this one. Also, Kirby is usually rated as the worst character, even the official guide gives him an overall score of 5. Furthermore, there are only 35 playable characters in SSBB (39 if you count Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard, Zelda, Sheik, Samus, and Zero Suit Samus). Some of these characters were retired after Melee, some are bosses, and Daisy is actually just a color change for Peach, yet she is ranked higher even though they are the same character. This is by far the most inaccurate ranking of SSBB (and several random non-SSBB) characters I've seen.
I can't believe you people hate Diddy. He's the 2nd best character and my favorite. And Meta Knight is 1st, not Kirby. Don't vote for someone because you think they're cute! Vote for the character that is totally OP and was almost banned from tournaments (that means Meta Knight, for all of you out there).
Ness can screw you up physically and from across the map. His projectiles are powerful and helpful in some situations. His A attacks are not bad as well. Not to mention, his final smash is awesome!
Hey, Ness is AWESOME. I mean, he's pretty hard to use at first, but once you get used to him, you know where to charge his awe-inspiring bat attack, you know when to use PK Flash, and you know how to hit yourself with PK Thunder to save yourself from falling. Oh, and you can control your PK Thunder attack.
I feel many people completely ignore Ness for what he is: a combo master. Many believe that the only strategy to win is to spam, but there's so much more to him.
Wolf is amazing. He's fast, strong, and has long-distance attacks. His Final Smash is amazing - strong, fast, and unstoppable. His gun can stun opponents, and his up and side special moves are good for recoveries and are very strong. I'm shocked he's this low.
The only other characters that come close to beating him are Pit with his great recovery and attacks, Mr. Game and Watch with his amazing Final Smash, and Lord Ganondorf, with his amazing Final Smash, recovery, and strength. All the other characters are kind of good, medium, or awful. And Olimar is the worst character of all - horrible moves, and even more worthless without his Pikmins, which are not cute.
Wolf is just incredible. Period. He has surprising range and great recovery, as long as you don't miss the ledge, which happens a little too often. His aerials are powerful and combo. His reflector can counter anything, including melee attacks, because it comes out in 1 frame. And he has the greatest Final Smash, unless you play on the stage with the crabs and turtles. Though his Landmaster doesn't last as long as Fox's, it is much more powerful. It is so satisfying to one-shot your opponent with your cannon and then fly them off the top once they respawn.
