Best Traditional Heavy Metal Songs

The Contenders: Page 3

41 Green Manalishi - Judas Priest

I think it's a cover, but they own it.

42 22 Acacia Avenue - Iron Maiden
43 The Prisoner - Iron Maiden

Because of the killer opening and middle solos. Beast!

44 Purgatory - Iron Maiden
45 Where Eagles Dare - Iron Maiden
46 Powerslave - Iron Maiden
47 Damage Inc. - Metallica

Because it's ferocious, technical, and brutalises every song on here - plus I'm sick of propping up Maiden fans.

48 Passenger - Deftones

Because the only reason to own Deftone's album White Pony is to have Maynard James Keenan whispering you into a false sense of security, then bring the house down with the best chorus he's ever written. Venomous!

49 Nothing Else Matters - Metallica

Because this is Hetfield's baby, thru and thru, and it is a tremendous ballad with a big heart, and his closing solo is a moving one.

50 Say You'll Haunt Me - Stone Sour

Corey Taylor killing it lyrically and vocally in a moving tribute to love and loss.

51 Stone the Crow - Down

Anselmo demonstrating that the guy can still sing with equal parts emotion and gusto.

52 Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Because it's their most crushing track.

53 Kill the King - Rainbow
54 Child In Time - Deep Purple

The kings of progressive metal back in the day delivering their epic masterpiece. Timeless.

55 Eat the Rich - Krokus

This track was a worldwide metal classic way back when, and whilst they're essentially a hard rock outfit, Headhunter was a metal album - one of my first.

56 One - Metallica

Yeah, I'm bored of it too. But there's no doubt about it being one of netal's finest tracks.

57 Closer - Nine Inch Nails
58 Institutionalized - Suicidal Tendencies

Yes, it's a punk track, but on the remake they toughen this up to an aggressive metal track. Just one Pepsi, that's all I wanted, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me...

59 Victim of Changes - Judas Priest
60 Dance of Death - Iron Maiden
