Top 10 Best Allies of the United States

The Top Ten
1 United Kingdom The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly shortened to United Kingdom, UK or Britain is a Sovereign State located of the Northwestern coast of Europe. It is a Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy currently lead by Monarch Queen Elizabeth II and its current prime minister is... read more

The UK is, and most likely will be, a close ally until the end of times. I wish I could place Ireland as a tie with the UK, as most of us on the East Coast have strong ties, or at least blood bonds, with Ireland. Unfortunately, Ireland has strict neutrality, even during our world struggles. I would like to see Ireland forgive the past and stand shoulder to shoulder with the countries that love Ireland and want to see her stand beside and with us.

I thank our very close friends France, New Zealand, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, South Korea, Norway, and so many others that stand for democracy. Again, this is a post for the UK as our number one ally. As a veteran, I would fight to and through the gates of hell with any soldier of the UK. They are tough and stay the fight. A great people they are.

2 Canada Canada is a country in North America that is next to the United States, and it's the 2nd largest country in the world by area (size is 9.985 million km²). This country has 10 provinces, and 3 territories. Canada became a dominion on July 1, 1867. Its 10 provinces are: Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec,... read more

Canada and the US are more than allies. They are brothers. Think of them as the little brother and big brother. Like many families, they sometimes disagree, but make no mistake, they are always on the same side and will always defend each other. The last country to threaten Canada was Spain over fish. The US and Britain warned the Spanish government that a threat to Canada is a threat to them, and Spain is a NATO ally. They are each other's largest trading partner by far and share not only the world's longest border but also the longest undefended border in world history.

3 Japan Japan is an island country in East Asia in the Pacific Ocean. It lies off the eastern coast of the Asia Mainland (east of China, Korea, Russia) and stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and near Taiwan in the southwest... read more

Japan and South Korea are stronger allies than anything in Europe, in my opinion. Yes, we did bomb these people, while they bombed us, but it's just not the same government anymore. I can't believe that the U.K. still manages to think it's the US' greatest ally when the Pacific and Eastern Asia is where all the action is happening.

And I wonder why Russia isn't on this list. The US has also been to an indirect war with them, and it's been one of the greatest rivalries in history, after perhaps England and France, but that, like Japan, is a thing of the past. Both countries work together on space and other things. These are the two most developed countries in the world, and some still manage to complain and say that they are pure enemies. Guys, it's Russia or China, and Russia's the better option. I believe that today's America is more focused on Pacific relations than Atlantic ones.

4 Israel Israel, officially the State of Israel, is a country in Western Asia. It is situated on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and the northern shore of the Red Sea, and shares borders with Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan to the east, and Egypt to the southwest; it is also... read more

Israel is the USA's ally because it is the only democracy in the Middle East and shares American views. The country is extremely crucial to America's presence in the most unstable area of the world. America has repeatedly backed Israel, including using its veto power in the United Nations. The vast majority of America's UN vetoes have been in favor of Israel. Now, Trump has recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, clearly demonstrating that the country favors Israel over any Middle Eastern or Muslim state. The USA has gone against NATO's interests to defend Israel, especially in recent years.

5 South Korea South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula and sharing a land border with North Korea. Its western border is formed by the Yellow Sea, while its eastern border is defined by the Sea of Japan. South Korea claims... read more

As Americans, we are committed to protecting South Korea and their freedom at all costs. The US is watching, helping, and sustaining South Korea, while China is doing the same for North Korea. The two countries are like a large-scale social experiment. We try not to interfere with each other because we both want to prove that our government is better. The US wants to demonstrate that a democracy works better than a dictatorship.

The ROK-US alliance is the most successful example of partnership and collaboration between countries in modern-day history. Based on a solid foundation of mutual trust and integrity, the alliance will maintain its position as the vanguard of safeguarding the liberal order in Asia.

6 Australia Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. With an area of 7,617,930 square kilometres (2,941,300 sq mi), Australia is the largest country by area in Oceania and... read more

Hi mate, Australia has been helping America in so many wars, for example, World War I, the Allied intervention in the Russian Civil War, WW2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the war in Afghanistan, the Iraq War, and even today with ISIS. We help America in every single war they've got involved in. We didn't have to help. We weren't being attacked in some of the wars they got involved in, yet we stepped in even though we weren't involved. We didn't ask for anything in return, did we? No, we didn't.

7 France France, officially the French Republic, is a sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas regions and territories. The European part of France, called metropolitan France, extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to... read more

Just Lafayette, if our banner is blue, white, and red, it's not from the French Revolution but from Lafayette who liked those three colors from the US flag. We definitely like America, even if sometimes we have some difficulties getting along well. France is the first consumer and presence of McDonald's, a paradox in the country of gastronomy. Anyway, personally, I do love to go to the USA for nice trips. Hope we'll keep our relationships. We'll never forget the famous D-Day.

They have been on our side in every single major war worth fighting. Like a great friend, they pleaded with us not to make the catastrophic mistake we made in Iraq. They would have saved countless lives had we listened to them. I might even put them at #1.

8 Germany Germany was formally united in 1871 under the initiative of Bismarck with King Wilhelm of Prussia as emperor. The previous 'Holy Roman Empire', basically a continuation of the empire of Charlemagne/Karl der Grosse was dissolved in 1806... read more

Well, to start off, Germany did not do anything in World War 2. That's just the country from which the enemy originated. The Nazis were the problem, not Germany. Germany might have a small army, but they are very trusted by the U.S. Germany spends a lot of their money on new technology to help out the European Union and the U.S. They deserve 1st place.

Not Great Britain. Speaking of the UK, it conquered all but three countries and was at war with the U.S./The Patriots for decades. Even past the American Revolution, Germany has NEVER been at war with the U.S.

9 Poland Poland, officially the Republic of Poland, is a country in Central Europe, bordered by Germany to the west; the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south; Ukraine and Belarus to the east; and the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) and Lithuania to the north. With a population of approximately... read more

The US has grown a lot closer to Poland over the past few years. Their country has developed well out of its communist occupation and is quickly on the path to becoming a major world power. They share many American values, and the US has recently been moving a lot of our troops there.

Poland helped the United States during the first Persian Gulf War and in the following Iraq War. The United States helped expand NATO to include Poland and has deployed the American military to Poland to protect it from Russian aggression.

10 India India, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country (with over 1.2 billion people), and the most populous democracy in the world. Its capital is New Delhi. Some other major cities are Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahemdabad... read more

India will be a critical ally for decades to come. Thank goodness they have the size and the strong ethical backbone to stand up to their Communist neighbors.

India will surely become a superpower. And the USA must support democratic federal India, as they have huge manpower, English-speaking labor, and are also a military superpower. They also possess Russian technology, which the USA can use against Russia and China. I recommend India as the best counterpart against evil China.

Pretty sure India-Russia relations are on the downswing, which automatically means India-US relations are on the upswing. Besides, the Chinese are a big cause of concern on one side, the Pakistanis (go figure) on the other side. Strong democratic ideals, great bilateral trade partnership, excellent defense partnership with India being part of every major military drill, and shared interests in stopping Chinese hegemony make them natural allies.

The Contenders
11 Spain Spain, or the Kingdom of Spain, is a country in southwestern Europe with parts of territory in the Atlantic Ocean and across the Mediterranean Sea. The largest part of Spain is situated on the Iberian Peninsula; its territory also includes the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, the Balearic Islands... read more

My family immigrated to the US from Spain two generations ago. My great uncle and his wife are still alive to talk about living in Spain, but for the most part, I consider myself an American now. I've learned Spanish from my mom and through school, and I've been lucky enough to travel all over the world, partly through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. My family has also lived all over the globe for a number of years, like Korea, Thailand, and Belgium. I especially go back to Spain too, sometimes just with my brother.

I've met all kinds of people, including Brits, Italians, Greeks, Turks, and Israelis, but I've got to say, the Spanish people, especially the Asturians, are the most hospitable, patriotic, and well-meaning individuals I've ever met. They might also have the best sense of humor. Of course, this is all my opinion, but it makes me sad this isn't higher on the list. I say number 3 or 4 at least.

12 New Zealand New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.
It is situated 1,500 kilometres (900 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea and roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the Pacific island areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga. New Zealand's capital city is Wellington,... read more

New Zealand is a key part of the U.S. allies as we share our democratic ways. I often think the U.S. should look to NZ as we have a brilliant social welfare system and are considered the safest country in the world, along with having the least amount of corruption. We have a lot to trade with the U.S., such as dairy products, wood, and seafood. Since Donald Trump became President, many Americans are fleeing to New Zealand as a safe, happy country. We also are one of the countries with the least amount of poverty. We are very similar to Australia, and I think we should be ranked up there with them.

13 Philippines The Philippines, officially the Republic of the Philippines, is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia. It is situated in the western Pacific Ocean and consists of around 7,641 islands that are broadly categorized under three main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao... read more

The Philippines was colonized by the Americans from 1943 to 1946. There's no stronger ally in the Asia Pacific Region than a neighboring country. Filipino people also adapted the language as a medium of communication in school, business, international market, and so on.

The Filipinos and Americans have always had a lot of mutual respect for each other. The values of the Philippines are similar to those of America, and the two countries are still going strong together, especially post WWII.

14 Mexico Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a federal republic located in North America. The country is located between the U.S. and Central America, and is known for its Pacific and Gulf of Mexico beaches and its diverse landscape of mountains, deserts, and jungles.

Yes, Americans, we're going to pay for your wall (or is it our wall since we have to pay for it?) because we like to help those who dislike our people! We are the best U.S. allies you can imagine.

Mexico is a strong ally of the United States. Just remember, they helped defeat the Nazis, Great Britain, and Japan. So yes, they deserve to be recognized as a good ally.

Yet Donald Trump hates the people over there. I sense that the special bond will be broken.

15 Norway Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a sovereign and unitary monarchy in Northern Europe whose territory comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula plus the island Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard... read more

Out of Europe, Norway and the U.S. share many similarities that cause the two countries to get along well.

An old and faithful ally of the US, Norway was a co-founder of NATO and has upheld its close ties to the US through the years.

16 Ukraine Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe. It is the second-largest European country, covering approximately 600,000 square kilometres (230,000 sq mi), and has a population of around 40 million people. It is bordered by Russia to the east and northeast; by Belarus to the north; by Poland, Slovakia, and... read more

While this cooperation doesn't immediately come to mind, Ukraine will focus on enhancing its friendship with the United States more, as it is the only way the country will survive.

Actually, yes, the western part. That's why Russia has claimed parts of the eastern part.

Ukraine is one of the closest US allies in Europe and will always remain so.

17 England England, previously the Kingdom of England, is a constituent country of the United Kingdom along with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

England can trace its history as far back as the 10th century, but modern England didn't start till the Norman Invasion of 1066. In 1535, England annexed... read more

You're the world's best. Bless God.

18 Taiwan Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), is a country in East Asia, at the junction of the East and South China Seas in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, with the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the northwest, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south. The territories controlled... read more

Taiwan is certainly forming a very good alliance with America. The USA has always been by Taiwan's side, encouraging them to turn against Communist China, and helping them advance in technology to counter China. This is a common strategy for the USA, never actually fighting themselves. They never actually send troops directly into China. They always use tactics such as encouraging Taiwan to fight China. The USA played a role in breaking apart the Soviet Union. We use North and South Korea as tools to counter China. Remember that.

19 Morocco Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco, is the northwesternmost country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. It overlooks the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and has land borders with Algeria to the east, and the disputed territory of Western Sahara to the south... read more

Formal U.S. relations with Morocco began in 1787 when the United States Senate ratified a Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the two nations, which had been negotiated in 1786. [Renegotiated in 1836, the treaty is still in force, constituting the longest unbroken treaty relationship in U.S. history, and Tangier is home to the oldest U.S. diplomatic property in the world.

Morocco was the first country to recognize the USA. As an American, I love Morocco, and I don't know of any anti-Moroccan sentiment in our country.

20 Malaysia Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country occupying the Malaysian Peninsula and part of the island of Borneo. It's known for its beaches, rain forests and mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences. The sprawling capital, Kuala Lumpur, is home to colonial buildings, busy shopping districts such... read more

I can see that since Najib took over as President, he's more aligned with the US behind the scenes. But in our eyes (media), we just seem to be in the middle between China and Russia.

21 Turkey Turkey, officially the Republic of Turkey, is a transcontinental country in Eurasia, mainly in Anatolia in Western Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries with Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia,... read more

Still one of the best allies. They have a good military. Turkey would be very effective if going against Russia.

One of the best and most powerful allies of the USA, especially regarding its operations in the Middle East.

Turkey is a critical ally to secure its interests in the region.

22 Netherlands The Netherlands, informally Holland, is a country located in north-western Europe with overseas territories in the Caribbean. It is the largest of four constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Netherlands consists of twelve provinces, and borders Germany to the east, Belgium to the... read more

They helped fund the revolution and bankrolled our trade at the start of our country, and we in turn got rid of the Nazis for them. The Netherlands are going to be riding with us for a long time.

The Dutch, like the Americans, are inventors. There is a history of the two countries supporting each other scientifically.

They sold us cheaper tea during the Revolutionary War. True homies.

23 Pakistan Pakistan was established in 1947 and is located in South Asia. Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan. Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar are other major cities of Pakistan. Urdu and English are official languages of Pakistan. World's second highest peak (K-2) and ninth highest peak (Nanga Parbat) are... read more

Pakistan helped the U.S. defeat the Soviet Union in 1979 with Operation Cyclone. It completed many non-NATO missions, including saving four U.S. embassy members from Somali pirates. Pakistan also assisted the U.S. in Operation Gothic Serpent, alongside Italy, Malaysia, and South Korea, to defeat the SNA. Furthermore, Pakistan has a very large volume of trade with the U.S.

Although there are many disputes and Pakistan is often seen as a two-faced country, there has been some benefit that resulted satisfactorily. It continues to be a key member as a non-NATO member, a title held by few.

24 Ireland Formed in 1916 after the Easter uprising, Ireland is a small country with a population of roughly 5 million.

Yes and no. Ireland is a great ally, and we have made many agreements, improving relations with Great Britain.
