Best Vampire Weekend Songs

The Top Ten
1 A-Punk

The song that got me into Vampire Weekend! My dad first heard it in work and new instantly I would like it!

The song that really got me into vampirw weekend and still no song has never gripped me the way that song has.

Awesome Song- Complete and instant mood change anytime you hear it

2 Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa

So catchy and so fun to listen to!

3 Oxford Comma

Since Oxford Comma appeared on How I met your mother I love it even more! I am not saying it's better than A-punk.. But still awesome!

Such an oddly lyrical song. Richard Nixon and UN references randomly thrown in.

I heard first in how I met your mother and now this is my ring tone. kinda different song from others but different mean good

4 Step

I've always thought that VW were a good band, but never really connected with what they were doing. It all sounded tight and poppy, but nothing hit me emotionally. I didn't feel it. This song, "Step, " changes that instantly. It blows me away every time.

At first it seemed like an odd song. But the more I listened to it, the song felt more emotional and beautiful. The lyrics also make sense and are very relatable.

I love this song for the music alone but the richness of the lyrics is what really gets me. I can listen to this song over and over!

5 Giving Up the Gun

The beat of this song is so catchy! And the lyrics are a good match. They don't necessarily go crazy with the pitch or anything, but they do a damn good job with this one.

Far and away their best song. It has a cool funky beat and bassline and stays true to Vampire Weekend while also appealing to those who don't like their other stuff.

Seems a bit different than all their other songs, and it works really well! Fantastic lyrics and a very catchy beat to match!

6 Hannah Hunt

This song is so amazing, there's nothing like it. I can't help but think how simple it sounds with so much meaning. Love the piano solo and when he sings "If I can't trust you, damn it Hannah, there's no future. there's no answer". Beautiful.

I love the lines in the last verse, "If I can't trust you then damn it Hannah, there's no future, there's no answer.", and "You and me, we've got our own sense of time...", it's just a beautiful song. The end is my favorite part.

If I can't trust you then damn it, Hannah
There's no future, there's no answer
Though we live on the US dollar
You and me, we got our own sense of time... This part of the song is my favourite of all their aongs

7 Holiday

So far the best song of the album "Contra", indeed their political engagement is less present than other songs but still remains my favourite one.

8 Horchata

When I saw this songs name, I freaked out! I love horchata! And I love thi song!

Dope dope song. Definitely was one of the first of theirs I ever heard and have loved them since

9 Cousins

This was their opening song when I saw them live and the energy the crowd had was amazing. Everyone was singing along to the extremely catchy lyrics and dancing to the beat and it was an outstanding start to the night! Definitely one of my favorites.

The lyrics definitely give the song a good mood, and the tune flows so well! Would be my 1st or 2nd personally.

How did you forget this one? This one has a good tune, and should be in here!

10 Ottoman

I love the upbeat start of the violins! Vampire weekend is awesome!

This song is amazing, it just create such an ambiance and keeps me happy the rest of the day after I listen to it

The Contenders
11 Walcott

Am I the only one who gets a massive sense of wanderlust when listening to this song? I mean, yeah, it's a pretty damn literal interpretation of the song, but hearing this makes me want to run away from everything and start my life anew. Something akin to what Cristopher Johnson McCandless did in Into The Wild.

Maybe it's just me.

Come on! This so is just so invigorating! Definitely should be at least in the top 5!

Hands down. No competition. The best song they have made to date.

12 M79
13 Campus

Catchy, meaningful, and everything in general is amazing about this song.

14 Diane Young

Awesome song! So catchy, from the distorted chorus to the very last second, this song is definitely one of the bests of Vampire Weekend

Baby baby baby rode on time... I love when he says this line!

It's pretty much right on time for today.

I love this song!

15 White Sky

Catchy, rhythmic, and Ezra has amazing control over his voice. When I hear this song, and the whole Contra Album I imagine being on an tropical island surrounded by beautiful scenery and blue skies all around. Beautiful. My favourite Vampire Weekend Song (and off my favourite album)

Very underrated. I love it though and it's my favorite. Not A-punk, but still very good.

16 Obvious Bicycle
17 Ya Hey

God, wow, this song. Such depth, darkness and passion. Captures the essence of pure fervour of religion, nationalism, music, love, whatever and mixes it with the respectful quirkiness of VW. The beauty of this song is that it not only makes immense sense but that it can make different kinds of sense to different kinds of people. Truly one of the music highlights of 2013.

There is an underlying yearning, pleading emotion in this song that brings me to tears. Maybe it's not there at all, maybe it is me alone who brings that in through my own interpretations but that's okay, that's the point of art. I listen to this when I need some stability and when I need to smile.

18 Bryn
19 Unbelievers

This song is just amazing! I love it so much. I love the lines- "I'm not excited, but should I be? Is this the future that half the world plans for me? " awesome lines. I also love Hannah Hunt, Oxford Comma, A-Punk, and Giving Up the Gun.

This song is literally amazing! I expected it to be number one on the list. It's so catchy and meaningful, you can't not like Unbelievers. It's one of my favorites.

"Want a little light, but who's going to save a little light for me? ". This song should be at least a top 10!

20 Mansard Roof

The galloping rhythm played on drums and Tremelo Picking on guitar throughout the song joins together to create a empowering fast paced song, Like legit, the entire song is a damn crescendo. This along with other songs from this album (Vampire Weekend)such as 'The Kids Don't Stand a Chance' and 'Cape Call of Duty Kwassa-Kwassa' Sparked my desire to create and play music. Koenig and Tomson along with Rostam Batmanglij and come together to create, in my opinion, one of the most complex and articulate albums by an 'indie band'.

21 The Kids Don't Stand a Chance
22 Harmony Hall

Just the guitar riff is enough to put this into the top 15, let alone the vibraphone that takes the song from slower to very upbeat-great song!

I will bet my left nut that this wins best rock song at the 2020 grammy's!

23 Run

Come on! This song deserves the Top 10! Unfair!

24 Young Lion
25 Diplomat's Son

I have no idea why this song isn't even in the top ten. Great great song.
