2 Super Smash Bros. Melee

Compared to 2000, 2001 didn't offer me much personally. Emphazes on me, since I didn't play a lot of the games that came out this year. That being said, I have played Smash Melee, and it is very good. I mean it's smash! How can you go wrong with it?

Amazing Gameplay

3 Halo: Combat Evolved

This game revolutionized twin-stick first person shooters, and still holds up well today. The game includes lots of go-to features present in most FPS's including limited weapon count, regenerating shields, and equally strong focus on good singleplayer and multiplayer experiences. Had it been released a little later, it would have certainly been an important pioneer in online gaming with Xbox Live.
