Biggest Mary Sues of the Warrior Cat Universe
I'm sure we've all thought at least one character in the Warriors universe was a Mary Sue. In case you don't know, a Mary Sue (or Gary Stu, for male characters) is a character in the story that angsts about everything, is utterly perfect, and imbalanced compared to ther other characters. If you would like a more in-depth explanation, Google it.Now, a Mary Sue (or heck, even Kitty Sue) is NOT just a character you don't like. Don't put characters up here unless you truly think they're unbalanced and either too generic/predictable or too overpowered. OCs will not be allowed. Feel free to put in plenty of cats, but I wouldn't recommend trying with the less well-known ones (such as cats in Codes of the Clans), as those are likely to just collect dust at the bottom of the list. Finally, please don't vote on a cat just because you think they shouldn't be called a Mary Sue. I may be new to this website and all, but I know that upvoting your favorite character to be recognized as an unbalanced one wouldn't be among the best of ideas.
Now, let the Listing Games begin, and may the odds be ever in the favor of your submitted cat!
Dovewing is not a Mary Sue, she's not whining first of all, I mean not as whiny as another cat *cough cough IVYPOOL cough, cough* and I think that she deserves to have the right to be a great character. She's kind, and ThunderClan would have died from fire. She also saved all of the Clans from the drought. And what did Ivypool do? Train in the Dark Forest to get attention. Dovewing, I feel like is just a really misunderstood character, and she deserves respect like most of the cats on this list (Firestar). - Blacktuft of ThunderClan
Why is he apart of every prophecy? The whole five cats from each clan thing, he wasn't apart of. Blood will spill Blood, that was an OMEN, it didn't really make anything bigger. Even the power of three, it was HIS kin. I liked Firestar, but he should've just been the greatly remembered leader if not a little less. He did a lot of things, so he had his spotlight. Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf should've just had the spotlight. Then Dovewing replaces Hollyleaf, and above all, his final act of heroism took the place of someone like Ivypool or (FINALLY) Hollyleaf.
His character was stretched too much. He should've just been the cat to face Tigerstar, like he sorta hoped in Darkest Hour.
Okay, I am on The Power of Three, but what the fridge is wrong with Firestar? I remember him as a nice, forgiving cat from The Prophecies Begin... Now he's a weirdo. I mean, I can't even explain him! I don't think he's a Gary stu and I don't hate him for killing Stupid Scourge but the fact that they HINTED that he favored Leafpool for having the prefix "-Leaf" like Spottedleaf is bad. Also, there's proof because she broke THREE codes and was stripped off of medicine cat duty then put back again! Poor Mapleshade. Also, the fact that her punishment as an apprentice was going to the WindClan patrol with the cats. Really? He used to be my role model.
Spottedleaf is the WORST! She walks with that sweet scent everywhere and acts like the most important cat in the Clan! She doesn't really have a personality and then she does nothing and like 75% of the Fandom loves her, what?! Firestar did more stuff in one book than she did in a lifetime and only like 2% of the Fandom likes him! WHAT THE HECK?! And this cat said ONE line, you here that, Spotted x Fire shippers? ONE LINE. And it was "Get back to camp, he needs rest" - Spottedleaf, and it wasn't just to him, it was also to Graypaw. How can people make a ship out of that? Honestly I just really hate her. - Stonepaw
So much wasted potential! I still haven't read Bramblestar's Storm, but I know quite some information about her. She and Bramblestar maybe could have been together? Honestly, I think it would have been interesting while I was reading Visions of Shadows to find out that Bramble is with a former-kittypet, and that Squirrelflight was okay and moved onto a new tom. I would have liked to see Squirrel with a different ThunderClan tom who actually loved her! Yet, Bramble and Squirrel remained the same from before the whole Holly, Jay, and Lion fiasco started up. And I'm really questioning why? They could have forgiven each other and moved onto new mates, and more people might have liked that! But no! I'm just sort of disappointed with the new plots of the newer books. Sure, the Apprentice's Quest wasn't the absolute worst, but it had a lot of boring things in it. I really would have liked to see Alder and Spark with a new father! But their father is just Bramblestar in that book. I would have loved for Jessy and Bramble to get together if she wasn't just a brown Squirrelpaw with, for some reason, amazing skills. But please, just take this opinion with a grain of salt.
Millie isn't a sue in the slightest. She looked nothing like Silverstream, and had to work so hard to get into Thunderclan with Graystripe. He only chose her because Graystripe truely loved her like he did Silverstream. She helped Graystripe, yet didn't always succeed. She was hurt, and I think blinded by getting hit with briars or brambles before arriving in the loner barn with those who helped her and such. Plus, Millie was the one to stand up to the dogs, and knew how to deal with them, but she also has some flaws to pull her weight with her good traits. In my opinion, Graystripe had many reasons to fall in love with her. Millie saved his life on multiple occasions, encouraged him, helped him, and made sure he kept his sanity. She was kind, but also clumsy, and couldn't exactly get hunting or fighting on the first try. Not at all.
She isn't a sue at all. Just because she has a talent learning to be a warrior doesn't make her perfect. She wasn't the best mother, she went overboard with being overprotective of briar light, even if her reasons understandable, and she has complexity in her character and lots of development with graystripe unlike silverstream. She was never described to be pretty, the only possible way they might have confirmed that is she looks like silverstream in a way, but I think that's just because their both silver tabbies, and not every silver tabby is beautiful even if a lot of them are.
Here ladies and gentlemen is the BIGGEST Mary Sue in Warriors, Lionblaze! He is literally invincible! When he was just a kit he bet a fox. A fox! He's just a kit and he a fox that's bigger than him and could kill him easily! Thank you Warriors you have won an award for making a canon sue. He can win any fight but lost only once because he wanted to show Cinderheart he could control his powers. He even bet Tigerstar like What the heck! He was still young too and look at Tigerstar. Tigerstar is a senior warrior who is really strong and is still training in Dark Forest. Now he's another reason he's a sue, almost everyone loves him expect for a few. Cinderheart and Heathertail like him! I absolute hate him. I hope they make another book in Warriors where he actually loses a battle not on purpose either.
I wouldn't call Lionblaze a complete Gary sue, but I also think that he is probably one of the closest you get in warriors. He is my least favorite character, not because he is invincible and stuff (which is such an annoying Gary sue power), but because he has a bland personality and he doesn't really make in progress in the books. In the end of The Power of Three (spoilers), Jayfeather and Hollyleaf are figuring out who they're parents are while Lionblaze doesn't even care. I'd always sigh when there were Lionblaze chapters because he is just so bland while the other two have such interesting and real personalities.
How the hell is Silverstream in this list? Sure, she's pretty and nice and saves Graystripe, but let's list out her flaws:
- She's pretty annoyed easily
- She's a brat
- She doesn't really respect people
So yeah, those are some pretty crappy flaws already. And I personally like Silverstream more than Millie. To be honest, I feel like Silverstream saves Graystripe just so it wasn't a hassle if someone spotted her ignoring a drowning cat who didn't know how to swim. Plus, it was leaf-bare. Then I would say that she probably hated Graystripe at first, but then Graystripe possibly pressured her into a relationship, which ended with her dying by bleeding to death.
She's a bit Mary Sue. I've been doing this thing where I defend all the cats and give reasons that they're not Sues/Stus, or at least not AWFUL Sues/Stus, but Silverstream wasn't well written enough to merit all the love she gets from the fans. If she got more time and development, then she could likely be one of the best supporting characters that died in one book, but as she is, she's a bit boring to read about. Yes, she has clear flaws and and goes through real hardships, but the way that she's written ignores her flaws, and skims over what could be one of the most interesting conflicts in that book, and THAT is why she is a Sue.
For all of the people that agree with Squirrelflight should be on this list, give it up. I have an argument! First of all, as an apprentice, Squirrelflight was very stubborn and may I say even a bit rude. She wasn't the most Mary-Sue cat, and it's definitely not unlikely that a young child would have that personality. Then, when she was on the Great Journey, Squirrelflight formed a close bond with Brambleclaw, which practically changed her personality. And I can relate to that, for meeting my two best friends changed mine, too. Then she had to choose between ONLY Ashfur and Brambleclaw, and she saw the SAME SENSE so may other people would see, and chose Brambleclaw, because they were so close, while Ashfur was just a close friend to Squirrelflight. Next Squirrelflight chose to help Leafpool and take in her kits, even if that meant she would one day have to BEG Ashfur to let them out of a fire, and tell him her secret. Lastly, I would like to point out Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight's love was practically love at first sight, WAY before Brambleclaw was even DEPUTY.
Squirrelflight is not a Mary Sue. I REST MY CASE.
I'm sorry. Don't they mean Tigerstar number 2? Just saying. Tigerstar 1 died by Scourge so this is TIGERSTAR 2. Can people just stop using tiger for once so that we don't have a tigerstar 3? Omg. Tigerstars and Tigerstars and what about Bramblestar? Can't you use something similar to tiger instead of tiger for once?
Ugh he abounded his clan when they needed him the most and returned when it suited him, and his mate dovewing is a Big marry sue One time she said ivypool was jealous of her and she quats "no wonder hollyleaf isn't part of the prophecy she killied a cat! "
Almost as bad as Dovewing. Obviously Dovewing would have chosen him. They were a perfect MaryxGary Sue couple. Bumblestripe, rip them up, will you?
Onestar isn't a Gary-Stu. Everyone likes Onewhisker better than Onestar, of course. We all know the reasons. As a warrior, Onewhisker was very loyal to WindClan, but still a good friend to Firestar. As leader, he was too keen on proving that WindClan didn't need help from other leaders. But I think he was like this because of other leaders calling him second to Firestar. He probably took it too seriously and starting going totally against ThunderClan, especially when he and his Clan raided ThunderClan and failed. They ran away without saying anything, cowards. I just hope he'll loosen up a bit in the future, and maybe restore his friendship with Firestar in StarClan when he dies.
I don't have much to say. I think Onestar sucks. I have a feeling people are misunderstanding what Mary Sue really means. If you don't like the character (if you don't, me too), it doesn't always mean that they're a Mary Sue (I am so tired of typing every possible thing someone might call a Mary Sue I'm just going to use 'Mary Sue'). It means that a character is too perfect (ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE), they're good at everything, etc. It doesn't always mean they're a brat. Again, I think Onestar sucks. Though, that's just my opinion.
Seriously? How did this get up here? Okay, I admit that you can see Leafpool as a Mary Sue for being a medicine cat, having forbidden love, and way more reasons, but SERIOUSLY? I love Leafpool (though I have to admit I like Squirrelflight better). Though that's just my opinion and I am aware that most people with common sense would hate me for defending someone just because I like them. You might think that forbidden romance is overrated and stuff, but then, Warriors is full of forbidden loves that I'm curious why you're reading it at all. I know that she is peaceful, blames herself for the death of her mentor, and etc. I don't know why people don't like that. I mean, it might be overrated, there are a lot of peaceful cats and cats that blame themselves for the death of other cats, but just imagine what would happen if Leafpool was really war frenzy (which some of you will call overrated, again, and just simply hate her), and she just blamed Cinderpelt herself, or Sorreltail, maybe and think that she was still an awesome apprentice to Cinderpelt. I have a feeling that she will be your new least favorite character if that happened. Again, I am very fond of Leafpool, so my words might not be that... trustworthy.
Well, there is a steep hill argumement on if she's a mary sue or not. I think she is. She's described as kind, pretty, gentle, a weakling, and looks a lot like her mother, who could have easily been described as the prettiest she in the clan. She attempted a forbidden relationship, while knowing her mother died from a forbidden relationship. Ignoring tradgedy in favor of instinct is pretty stupid for such a loyal clan cat, and it doesn't make since either. She was always so nice, but then argues when Stormfur and kills Sharptooth. Logic? I agree that she's a stereotypical girl from the 40's.
I can sorta agree with this. I've never really thought she was a Mary-Sue, but I don't like her. I've always favored Stormfur. I hated how she would argue with Stormfur when the sweet lil bean Storm was just trying to protect her and help her not beak the warrior cat's code. I felt betrayed by the author(s? ) of the series when they made Feathertail all of a sudden the new main cat of the prophecy.
SHE IS 100% A MARY SUE. And about Lostface, just because Cloudtail loves her doesn't mean she should become Brightheart. Stormkit became Crookedkit. No cats argued. Sparrowpelt lost half his tail. White-eye loses an eye and becomes one-eye. Any arguments from cats? No. Hopkit becomes Deadpaw. Any arguments? No. Dashpaw becomes Maggottail. ARGUMENTS? No. If any cat argued, it would probobaly stay the same. Just because Cloudtail argued doesn't make it any different, LOSTFACE!
She is just straight up predictable. Even her name sounds like a mary-sue. BRIGHTHEART.
You can't tell me that doesn't sound like one.
I say she is a Mary-Sue because everyone took their rime out to stay with her, but what about Cinderpelt? Only Yellowfang took time out of her last days to help her. I was also alright with Lostface, because what about Stormkit? He had an accident and now he is Crookedkit. Guess how many fans cared? Like, none. Sparrowpelt too? He lost half his tail. White-eye is dragged into this Name-change too. Hopkit becomes Deadpaw. And Dashpaw? Oh I didn't forget you. Now, you are Maggottail. This is one of the most hated Warrior Cat names! White-eye lost her eye, but does the fans care about her new name, One-eye? No? Well does this story sound familiar? Of course, Brightheart! You only cared about beauty. Crookedkit's mother abandon him!
Yeah, no, total Mary Sue. Her "loyalty" is all over the place, and she plays with the emotions with pretty much all the toms ever. I mean, really? And she puts on the water-works when her father is murdered, but then becomes mates with one of the cats who wanted him dead? I want to trust her now that she is Clear Sky's loving mate, but I can't: she's always seemed just naturally evil. She's manipulative, secretive, and treats toms like objects.
She's constantly described as beautiful and stunning, etc, and she attracts the attention of THREE tomcats (if you count Slash, which was implied). Her personality changes according to the plot. In one scene, she's kind and supportive. In another, she'll be a badass fighting machine. One scene later she's a damsel in distress. She is also the center of a creepy love triangle. (Between the dad or his kid, really? ) Just, ugh. The Erins tried too hard this time.
I think that she should be at the top of the list. She is so annoying and she trained in the Dark Forest just to get attention, I made an example, here we go:
Ivypool: *Falls asleep and unsheathes her claws*
Dovewing: *Rushs over* Are you OK?
Ivypool: None of your business! You're too great and I deserve to be great, take that! II'm going to be leader some day!
Dovewing: But you should be safe and not train with the Dark Forest.
Ivypool: Is that so, I should be the best and you should be the worst *evil grin*
This is what basically happens with Ivypool. She trains in the Dark Forest to get attention. She doesn't even need attention. Like Thornclaw and Brackenfur, they were in the series and they were minor characters. Did they ask for attention? NO! She;s just a selfish little, creature, not a smart cat, a CREATURE! A son of a hamroll! - Blacktuft of ThunderClan
Spoiler warning. =/
I don't exactly hate him but I don't like him either. I don't notice many things actually bad happening to him! Even if he has powers to know what others are thinking, and look into other cat's dreams, he's still blind. He fell in a hole once. ONCE people. He is BLIND for corns sake. I realize that he is actually trying to not fall in things and trip over things, but seriously. Around 99% of the time he is perfect, and the 1% is when he threw the stupid stick in the lake and almost got Firestar drowned. Even when Flametail drowned, he didn't act like anything wrong had happened and he went back to his normal perfect life. Mary. Sue.
Jayfeather is always challenged by the narrative, and that's the true definition of "Mary-Sue" or "Gary-Stu". What, did you want Jayfeather to weep for days when Flametail died, and be traumatized? He has Clanmates to treat, you know, he couldn't grieve about ShadowClan's medicine cat forever. He plenty of times falls/trips/walks into things, like in Sunrise when he walked into the brambles, Eclipse he got scratched by a thorn, and more. He's snappy and moody, and that's not being perfect. How would you feel if you were blind and all you had was a blind elder also to share feelings with? I mean, he was annoying sometimes, but still, but his blindness really is tragic, and he never had a "perfect life".
Goldenflower has her own fair share of flaws, who ever wrote this can't see that.
Pluse she is one of the only peple who has reason behind hateing her (former) mate.
Honestly, why, just why?
I honestly have zero idea how Goldenflower got here. Like what? I'm actually confused
Ok It seems no one Actually Understands the Definition of a mary sue. It's some one who IS overpowered AND that they have no explanation for that power. for example, Lionblaze is a good fighter, but he was part of the prophecy that gave him the power to be invunreable. As for scrouge, he killed tigerstar easily because He had dog Teeth on his claws(or dog claws not entirely sure), Sure he scared it away, but not to mention he takes Out one of Firestar's Lives, who is no bad fighter and As he is the leader Of a clan that is held together by fear he had to have some good fighting skills.
Scourge is over powered. That's all I'm going to say. He had a terrible upbringing, got very strong and powerful, (although he's JUST bigger than an apprentice.), almost took over the forest with a random clan he formed out of the blue from loners with little to no fighting experience, took out two leaders, both being almost twice his sized, and got killed by the second one after killing him the first time. He always got what he want because people feared him, and then was just randomly killed out of the blue.
1. Sappy Backstory
2. Becomes really strong when he was very weak.
3. Had no real training
4. Formed a clan from nowhere out of untrained loners.
5. Somehow almost dominates the forest
6. Takes out two leaders
7. Gets killed.
That chain of events doesn't make since.
WHAT?!
Is a Gary-Stu tempted to kill his own leader?
Does a Gary-Stu argue CONSTANTLY with his mate?
NOPE.
And his closest friends are pretty much either gone or distant.
Ashfur? He backstabbed him, and then he got killed.
Feathertail? Dead.
Stormfur? With the Tribe.
Jessy? Who knows where she went?
Crowfeather? Well...we all know what Crowfeather can be like...
Tawnypelt? Loyal to ShadowClan.
Squirrelflight is the only one that's still around.
He doesn't even have hardly any close friends! In my opinion he's not even that good of a leader, with the exception of Bramblestar's Storm he was much better as a warrior and a deputy then he ever was and ever will be as a leader!
What did poor, innocent WHITESTORM do to get up here? He's such a great cat! If Bluestar knew that someone said this, she would call their ears off.
Why is he on here. Just because he's the kit of Snowfur and Thistleclaw doesn't mean he's a Gary stu.
Seriously so he was deputy so what he was wise so what that makes him a stu!? one of my favorite characters
heres some reasons why he is an anti stu
his mother dies when he is a kit!?
his father is the one who makes tigerstar evil
he dies like a day or two after he was made deputy for crying ou loud
signed moonstorm of nightclan
Yes, it's Stargleam!
May be a Mary Sue, but when I rewrote her story (changed her name, changed title) I kinda grew attached to her.
In the original...she was kinda bad, and I found myself liking Jazzpaw WAY more.
But, lesson learned: redo a character, love the character.
All right first of all... HER WARRIOR NAME WAS STARGLEAM, she was revived by starclan TWICE. she was revived to give out the ten, oh no sorry, 11 commandments. she is loved by ashfur, hawkfrost, blackstar and everyone else. she chose her leader name, became leader when firestar was still alive and chose her leader name which may I add while gleamstar is a pretty name, it is her warrior name flipped. she also had a prophecy when she was born. Plus she had kits in a lesbian relationship, lot long after being against gay relationships
I'm glad Gleamstar/Starkit isn't a Canon cat in the books, she is way to like a Mary Sue to be taken seriously.
Once again, a cat added because someone didn't like her, not because she's a Mary Sue.
Ugh. Brook should go die in a hole.
Oakheart was a deputy of RiverClan under Hailstar’s and Crookedstar’s leaderships in the forest territories. He was born as Oakkit to Rainflower and Shellheart, along with his brother, Stormkit. He and his brother were very close, but when Stormkit broke his jaw, Oakkit was suddenly favored by their mother. Oakkit became an apprentice... read more
Ok, I really like Oakheart, but you hate to admit, he's a bit of a Gary-Stu, just a bit though. I mean he has a few flaws, like being extremely arrogant, but everyone loves him and thinks he's sooo brave and handsome, and blah, blah, blah. So I have to agree with this one.
I do sort of see Oakheart as a bit of a Gary Stue, but I've only read about him from Bluefur(star)'s point of view. What I didn't get was his and blue's love. I mean, is it just me, or did they rush into things? How well did they even know eachother? Like, sorry if I'm wrong, but didn't they only meet (go on a proper date thingy) ONCE before Bluefur had their kits?
Most people would not agree, but I find Oakheart a TOTAL gary-stu. He acts like a jerk to Bluefur/Bluestar, and suddenly- oops, Bluefur/bluestar is expecting his kits! He seems too... Annoying in an unrealistic way.
Well, he is pretty torn up on the inside, but he is kind of imbalanced...
He loves Leafpool and her kits more than he loves Breezepelt.
He broke a warrior and a med code and he didn't want to but he loved Leafpool and couldn't help it... I guess you can say this doesn't make him Gary Stuish, but he is always getting in the way when ThunderClan comes to speak with WindClan.
Ok. This is the most unreal list ever. Crowfeather is the greatest character ever, and I both mentally and physically cry every time I think about making Crow x Feather fan art. Or Crow x Leaf fan art. I also have a statue of him I made by my bed.
Now where should I start...? Ooooh,I remember he went into a little battle there was this sweet little kitty named Leafpoop. He saved her and then they magically fell in love they ran away with each other betrayed their clans he went back got a mate he didn't even love and thanks to him Breezepelt is Breezepelt. The utterly horrible end.Not to mention he got a cat stuck in the Darkforest.
