Best Book Characters

The Top Ten

1 Percy Jackson Percy Jackson Perseus "Percy" Jackson is a fictional character, the title character and narrator of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson & the Olympians series.

Okay, don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on Tris, I love the Divergent series so amazingly much, but I really think Percy should be number 1. He's loyal, strong, brave, sarcastic, hilarious, and so much more that I love reading about.

Percy is loyal, strong, funny, sassy, and brave! Honestly one of the best book characters EVER!

I love Percy! He's a true hero that cares for his friends. I'm so happy he's number one. PJO and HoO are my favorite books. Percy is good with a sword, he's powerful, but he's still has all of these goofs and flaws that make him so relatable. He's hilarious. He doesn't look down on people like Katniss, he doesn't have to constantly be saved by his love interest like Tris. His adventures will always be my favorite, and will most likely stay with me forever. By the way, Percabeth is THE best literary romance of all time in my opinion.

We love our Seaweed Brain though I still prefer TEAM LEO! How come he's not here? I thought all da ladies love a bad boy!

2 Hermione Granger Hermione Granger

Question: Why does intelligence matter in a character? I personally think it is personality that matter! She seems too bossy, feisty, and too much of a smart ass. She also seems like a major feminist (just saying) - missyweirdo

My childhood role model: Hermione is every girl's goal. She's intelligent, pretty, brave and loyal. One biggest lesson she's taught me is to stand up, to not be ashamed of what your are and prove yourself to everyone

Her, definitely. Loyal, smart, and a Golden Trio member to boot? Yes, she is AWESOME! And she has nice character development, plus a couple of flaws.

She is one of two fictional characters I can relate to on a personal level (the other being Annabeth Chase.) She taught me that I can be who I am and be accepted for that. She has good morals, intelligence, wits and courage. - Heyy7868

3 Katniss Everdeen Katniss Everdeen Katniss Everdeen is a fictional character and the protagonist of The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. She is portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence in the film adaptation franchise.

Now, I don't read The Hunger Games a lot but heck, WHO CARES!?!? Well she seems tough to me so I like her + she sacrificed herself for her sis as a volunteer to save her from being picked to go in so she kinda cool.

There are so many things we can't understand after Mockingjay, but she's so authentic she deserves to be on this list. - keyson

She has no personality, no development, she is too much of a good person, and she is just a flat and static character! - missyweirdo

Katniss Everdeen is a strong and caring person and sacrafices herself for other people

4 Tris Prior Tris Prior

How in all the goodness if this earth did anybody ever think that TRIS PRIOR is the best book character of all time?!?!? HOW?!?!

I know! She's not even in my personal top ten ya dystopian heroines - FavoriteFightingFrenchman

She's an annoying stubborn whiner. Sorry. Uriah all the way! HE IS THE BEST DIVERGENT

Honestly, she could kick katniss's ASS any day - missyweirdo

How is Tris even on this? - thalia_thatsme

5 Hazel Lancaster

I was going to vote for hermione granger but I knew hazel would be somewhere here so I kept it - pouria_mt

I was going to vote for hermione granger but I knew hazel would be somewhere here so I kept it - pouria_mt

She's deep, philosophical and very relatable. - Starsparks

She is so inspiring

6 Peeta Mellark

Peeta is amazing and he doesn't need ANYBODY to save him because he can save himself! He is my favorite character out of all the books I have ever read (which is a lot of books) so I don't understand why he is not number 1!

You mean that little brat who needed katniss to save his ass every 5 seconds. Peeta is a little girl, even Sofia The First is more masculine than him! - missyweirdo

Same as Katniss.

Peeta needs no one to save him in fact Katniss actually needs her to save him and by the way Katniss and Peeta can BOTH kick Tris Priors ass separately so don't go dissing on my favorite characters just because you have a poor opinion missyweirdo.

7 Elizabeth Bennet

Elizabeth Bennet deserves to be higher on this list! She's quick-witted, brave and clever. - Starsparks

8 Glory

I like this character but I like deathbringer better I ship Glory with deathbringer hard

Glory's cool, but I want to see peril on this list.

Any dragon that can spit poison from their fangs is awesome. Not to mention the camoufluage, to make them impossible to see.

Yes awseome!

9 Harry Potter Harry Potter Harry James Potter is the title character of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The majority of the books' plot covers seven years in the life of the orphan Potter, who, on his eleventh birthday, learns he is a wizard.

He's not the exact reason why we love the series, but come on! Give him credit- he's a preteen-teenager in the books. Literally, teenagers are practically like that, whether they think so or not. (Which I understand)

How is Greg Heffley above Harry Potter?!

Harry Potter, not even in the top ten. :/ Ahem, people.

Harry Potter is the best character ever! How COULD he possibly not be in the top 3? He is awesome

12 Tsunami

I love the book wings of fire and tsunami is my favorite out of the 5 dragonets, she brave and sarcastic and a very well developed character, I really think she should be one of the top 10 of this list.

Tsunami is a seawing dragon from the hit series Wings Of Fire. And if I was any type of dragon or elemental, I would be water! :3

She's cool, but my personal favorite is Sunny, she's like the Lucy of the WOF series.. I would be a sandwing~icewing crossbreed, like Sunny's a nightwing/sandwing.

Tsunami's my third favorite...

13 Greg Heffley Greg Heffley

Without Greg, I would not be alive today. He saved me! - missyweirdo

Greg does not deserve to be on this list! Honestly, his greatest achievement is sneaking into a girl's bathroom! No kidding! He is whiny, and struggles to be himself, ruining everyone's life in the process! He is mean to his friend, Rowley, and avoids this dude, Fregley, just because he has a bad reputation, when in reality, he is brave enough to stick up for himself, when Greg can't even except himself for who he is...get a life, Greg!

Greg hasn't don much has he. Andrei Bolkonsky left his family, and his love interest Natasha, to help repel Napoleon's invasion of Russia. Hercule Poirot managed to solve many murder cases. What has Greg Heffley done? - jezza0

He DIDN'T looked happy on the picture.

20 Princess Annabel

21 Luna Lovegood Luna Lovegood

I'm glad she's on here instead of Clary, Jace, Bella, Edward an any other Mortal Instruments/Twilight characters

She's quirky, imaginative and original. I'd love to have her for a friend, even if she is so brutally honest. - Starsparks

She's so kind, and she is never rude to everyone. She shows that it's good to be different.

She knows all.

22 Aragorn - Lord of the Rings Aragorn - Lord of the Rings Aragorn II, son of Arathorn is a fictional character from J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. He is one of the main protagonists of The Lord of the Rings.

Aragorn needs to be higher. He's the heir of Isildur and the king of Gondor, he should be higher!

23 Prince Liam
24 Jane Eyre

She's intelligent and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Not bad for a nineteenth century girl! - Starsparks

25 Artemis Fowl

Urm.. Artemis Fowl is way too cunning for my liking, like Draco Malfoy, but the main protaginist!

26 Frank Zhang

YESS! I am so glad that Frank is on this list, even if he's not in the top 10. He really doesn't get enough credit.

27 Andrei Nikolayevich Bolkonsky Andrei Nikolayevich Bolkonsky Prince Andrei Nikolayevich Bolkonsky is a character in Leo Tolstoy's epic Russian novel War & Peace, who leaves his family to fight against Napoleon's 1812 invasion of Russia. He was portrayed in the 2016 mini series by James Norton.

A Russian prince who leaves his family to fight against Napoleon's invasion. And what has Greg Heffley done? Sneak into a girl's ablutions. - mcvito

28 Alice Cullen

34 Persephone Hadley
35 Aphrodite

Hopefully this person is a Goddess Girls fan…

36 Atticus Finch Atticus Finch Atticus Finch is a fictional character in author Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize winning novel of 1960, To Kill a Mockingbird.
37 Mr. Darcy
38 Heathcliff
39 Gandalf Gandalf

This wise old wizard deserves to be higher on this list. - Starsparks

40 Hollyleaf Hollyleaf Hollyleaf was one of the rare, strictly loyal cats of ThunderClan. She cherished the warrior code as a kit and came back to her clan in a time of need to fight-- even though she was cast out for killing Ashfur.

The fact that she accepted her mistake of killing Ashfur instantly put her in my favorite characters. She wasn't stuck up and stubborn, she was extremely obedient though. And by her death she literally forgives everyone, proving that she was extremely selfless and modest, and that she could redeem herself from her sins - Nayan2003

And may I add that she sacrificed herself for Ivypool! (Which is also one of my favorite characters) Don't vote for Jayfeather! VOTE FOR HOLLYLEAF! - Nayan2003

She has the most amazing development ever. Her character is complex, but sweet and nice.

Warrior cat series. I love her. She just rocks - Badgerflame

BOOO Hollyleaf STINKS! Oh and to comment on bluefrostofthunderclan GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! Sorry but I don't care for cats who MURDER just because there mad at someone. COME ON! That isn't amazing. I belive the word your looking for is SELFISH! She is NOT loyal either. I mean would a "loyal" cat run away from her clan JUST because she did something wrong? NO they wouldn't! That's why Ivypool is my favorite cat! She is loyal no matter what and cares about others. Which is basicly the exact opposite of Hollyleaf. Oh and how she so called "saved" cats from the tunnel. PU-LEEZE! She wasn't doing that to be nice, she just didn't want to get in trouble with Firestar! Oh and I know Ivypool killed Antpelt but she is still awesome because she did it to HELP HER CLAN! Why doesn't anybody get that! -Sofierules!
