Top 10 Best Cartoon Protagonists

I looked at what I considered to be bad cartoon protagonists but now I'll be looking at what I consider to be good cartoon protagonists. Also a quick reminder anime characters will be excluded. And no background/ side characters or villians.
The Top Ten
1 Arnold Shortman - Hey Arnold

Definitely top 5 material in my eyes.

2 Homer Simpson - The Simpsons Homer Jay Simpson is the main protagonist of the American animated television series The Simpsons as the patriarch of the eponymous family.

Even though the Simpsons isn't as great as it used to be Homer is one of the only good things about newer episodes of the show.

3 Danny Fenton - Danny Phantom Daniel "Danny" Fenton is a human version of Danny Phantom from the Nickelodeon show, "Danny Phantom" by Butch Hartman. Unlike Danny Phantom, he is an average, clumsy, and awkward unpopular teenager who hates bullies in his school.

Cliche I know but as a protagonist his pros and cons are evenly ballanced out which truly makes him stand out.

4 Dipper Pines - Gravity Falls Dipper Pines is one of the main characters from the Disney cartoon Gravity Falls which aired from 2012 to 2016. He is the twin brother of Mabel Pines.

Quirky but decent overall and well written.

5 Batman - Batman the Animated Series

Lincoln Loud is above this. Wow.

6 Samurai Jack - Samurai Jack "Jack" (also known as Samurai Jack or simply The Samurai) is the alias taken by a Japanese warrior (with an unknown birth name) who acts as the titular protagonist of the cartoon Samurai Jack. Throughout the series, he is voiced by Phil LaMarr.
7 Lincoln Loud - The Loud House

One of the best protagonist yeah he does act selfishly at times but he does realizes his mistakes and does everything he can to fix things especially when it comes to his sisters.

Of course Loud House Haters would have a problem with Lincoln being on this list, I personally think he's a great protagonist a hell of a lot better than Timmy Turner.

Terrible protagonist. Egnomac, you are a great user. Don't ruin yourself

Hell yeah he's a great protagonist

8 Gumball Watterson - The Amazing World of Gumball Gumball Watterson is a twelve-year-old blue cat who is prone to causing mischief across the town due to not staying inside of the box. He is fairly egotistical and a veteran snarker; despite this, Gumball has a big heart and is surprisingly selfless. Although Gumball can be intelligent at times, he is not very wise, often doing things in the most convoluted of manners and gearing his energy towards fruitless endeavors. Although Gumball can be cynical towards society and the people around him, he ultimately does believe that there is a supposed way out of such a lifestyle.

Gumball is the best cartoon character ever he knows what's best for him he's kind hearted he loves toys candy comic books video games and his mom and he knows about Mario and he loves having fun

Even though the show went downhill Gumball still is a great protagonist.

The show stayed good and this character went downhill. BoredJeff02 what are you talking about?

9 SpongeBob SquarePants - SpongeBob SquarePants SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator the late Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. SpongeBob is currently the most popular show on Nickelodeon, as well as the longest running show, running for 23 years, and is beginning its 13th season. The show revolves around a sea sponge called SpongeBob SquarePants and his adventures under the sea. The show is considered to be one of the best Nickelodeon and cartoon shows of all time.
10 Ben Tennyson - Ben 10

Excluding the awful Ben 10 reboot... he generally is a likable protagonist in the original Ben 10 series.

The Contenders
11 Korra - Avatar: The Legend of Korra Avatar Korra is the title lead character in Nickelodeon's animated television series The Legend of Korra, in which she is depicted as the current incarnation of the Avatar, responsible for maintaining peace and balance in the world.

She starts of completly arrogant but throuout the series she learned from her mistakes and does everything to better herself as the Avatar.

12 Philip J. Fry - Futurama Philip J. Fry, or more commonly called Fry, is the main protagonist of Futurama. He is voiced by Billy West.
13 Stan Marsh - South Park Stanley "Stan" Marsh is a main character of the animated television series South Park. He is voiced by and loosely based on series co-creator Trey Parker. Stan is one of the show's four central characters, along with Kyle Broflovski, Kenny McCormick, and Eric Cartman.
14 Mickey Mouse - Disney Mickey Mouse is a funny animal cartoon character and the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company. He was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928. The first cartoon featuring Mickey Mouse was the iconic "Steamboat Willie" released in the year 1928.
15 Dexter - Dexter's Laboratory Dexter is a fictional character and the titular main protagonist of the Cartoon Network animated series, Dexter's Laboratory.
16 Jonny Quest - Jonny Quest
17 Rick Sanchez - Rick and Morty Rick Sanchez is a fictional character from the American animated television series Rick and Morty, aired on Adult Swim.

A bit too high R & M is ok but definitely not top 10 material.

18 Jake The Dog - Adventure Time Jake the Dog is, along with Finn the Human, a fictional character and one of the main cast in the American animated television series Adventure Time created by Pendleton Ward.
19 Robin - Teen Titans Robin, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the superhero Batman.

Unlike his awful GO contintuation, the original TT Robin was a leader that was strict but enjoyable from the first episode to the last episode of the series.

20 Finn The Human - Adventure Time Finn 'the Human' Mertens is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the American animated television series Adventure Time created by Pendleton Ward.

He's a very likable protagonist that struggles but still pulls through. Even though the episodes centering around him loving someone aren't generally my favorite kind of episodes...

Jake is so annoying

Jake for the win

21 Steven Universe - Steven Universe

This comment right here is completely retarded, steven is the best protagonist in cartoon history.

22 Jenny Wakeman - My Life as a Teenage Robot Jennifer "Jenny" Wakeman (designated robot name: Global Robotic Response Unit XJ-9) is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the American animated series My Life as a Teenage Robot created by Rob Renzetti for Nickelodeon.

Voiced by Vincent Martella and created and designed by Dan Povenmire, Phineas first appeared along with the rest of the series' main characters in the pilot episode "Rollercoaster." Phineas, along with his stepbrother Ferb Fletcher, star in each A-Plot of every episode.

I know that I'll flack for having a P & F character on here but he generally is a decent protagonist.

24 Aang - Avatar The Last Airbender Avatar Aang is a fictional character and the protagonist of Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen. Aang is the last surviving Airbender, a monk of the Air Nomads' Southern Air Temple.
