Top Ten Cartoons Ruined by Fanbases

We all know fanbases can just majorly kill what's good or what's left of a show. From the annoyance of odd shipping and the fans giving too much praise for a show, fanbases are always there to have outsiders shunned from the show. I hate to blame fanbases, considering I'm part of most of them, but we all know when our love for a show can sometimes get a bit out of hand. I don't want to be rude here, but we all know they exist.
The Top Ten
1 Gravity Falls Gravity Falls is an American animated television series produced by Disney Television Animation that first aired on Disney Channel, and then on Disney XD from June 15, 2012 to February 15, 2016. The series follows the adventures of Dipper Pines and his twin sister Mabel in the fictional town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, while on summer vacation.

Oh look another fandom I'm in! Okay, I'm just gonna say that Gravity Falls is a show that widely revolves around theories but some theories are so bizarrely stupid that it just makes me laugh. The show itself isn't all that bad, overrated in some cases, but some fans just go way overboard when they predict what may happen in the next episode. I understand that Gravity Falls is the type of show that makes you want to speculate with what's coming up, but I feel as though most fans are just doing the writer's work here. I enjoy a few theories every here and there but I think we should all calm down and watch the actual show.

Let's also not forget the other portion of the fanbase that ships a certain duo in the Gravity Falls world. Pincest. In case you don't know, Pincest is the shipping between Mabel Pines and Dipper Pines, who are related (Sister and Brother to be exact). Shipping is a serious problem in many shows, this itself is a prime source. This part of the fandom makes the theorist seem like a god. I'm sure that your not a horrible person if you like this "ship" but I'd rather you not shove your otp in my face.

... Also Dipper Goes to Taco Bell is a thing. Don't read it

2 The Loud House The Loud House is an American animated television series created by Chris Savino for Nickelodeon. The series revolves around the chaotic suburban everyday life of a boy named Lincoln Loud and his ten sisters, to which he survives as the middle child and only son in a large family of eleven children. Originally set to premier on January 2016, the series instead premiered on May 2, 2016, with the episodes... read more

God help us. How is SpongeBob ahead of this train wreck of a fandom. I used to like this show but then I saw the episode where one of the sisters is revealed to be LGBT (No I am not homophobic) and it PERMANENTLY turned me off of the show. I hold my religion very closely to me and after seeing that episode I pledged to myself that I'll never watch the show again. And before you say it, yes I am aware that the main character's best friend's parents are gay. But they were written that way from the get go. The moment with the sister and whoever her female crush is (I have forgotten the names) felt like SJW propaganda being shoved down my throat.

With that said, you can guess I'm not the biggest fan of this show to begin with. But what makes it a billion times worse is the fandom. Where do I begin? First up is Loudcest. Great god. If I had the memory eraser from Gravity Falls it would come in really handy. Secondly is the fanfics. I'm not even gonna begin with those. Word of advice: Avoid them at all costs! Finally, shippings. UGH, I felt sick looking through the dark corners of Deviantart. To those who like the show who are sane, this isn't directed at you. But good grief there this fandom is bad. Worse than the MLP, Sonic, and Jake Paul fandoms combined. I'll stick with SpongeBob.

3 South Park South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. The show is about four boys, who are Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick, and their adventures in South Park, Colorado.

Whoever put this here, thank you. This fandom is almost never mentioned when it comes to toxicity, and it needs to be.
50 percent of this fandom treats the satire like the Word of God, which is stupid, because the offensiveness is supposed to be a joke. This causes them to think as racist, sexist, homophobic, and horrible as possible. They end up hating women, Jews, etc because they can't tell when South Park is being satirical or serious.
The other 50 percent are yaoi fangirls. South Park themselves even pointed out that this is a bad thing in Season 19 with the episode "Tweek x Craig", but the fangirls didn't stop. Matt and Trey accidentally made it worse by making a confirmed gay couple within the kids. Plus one of the most popular ships are between the two characters who are known for hating each other to the point of attempted murder. Just... why? Oh, and you can't forget about the shippers who draw these kids having sex! They're 10 years old, what? "Aging them up" isn't an excuse to draw child pornography. 90% of this child porn is between two boys too, despite the fact that most of the characters in this show are straight. I'm sure people would hate it if someone kept drawing a gay dude having sex with a women, so why do that with straight men? If they want yaoi, then they should go to the Yuri On Ice fandom. Or how I like to call it, Yaoi On Ice. These shippers are usually between the ages of 12 and 18, which is kinda young to be watching South Park.

4 Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

Unoriginal and awful, I agree why does it have so much fans. It basically is another double life superhero cartoon like Kim Possible, Danny Phantom, Jake Long, and Randy Cunningham. Difference? It has nothing good out of it. The main villain is basically the sorcerer and the stormy weather is basically Vortex from DP. The illusion fox is basically Zoroark. And their powers are lame. Spy, ghost, dragon, and ninja are cool, but ladybug and a cat, wow. I've seen one episode and it was stupid. So overrated. Why is it so popular and fans whine that its "underrated". I respect fans' opinion and apologize if you are offended by this.

Couldn't get through one episode of this awful show, I don't know why it even has so many fans.

5 Danny Phantom Danny Phantom is an American animated series created by Butch Hartman for Nickelodeon. It was produced by Billionfold Studios and distributed in Canada by Nelvana, a Canadian animation company. The series follows a teenage boy who, after an accident with an unpredictable portal between the human world and the "Ghost Zone", becomes a human-ghost hybrid and takes on the task of saving his town (and... read more

I am hearing a lot of this show has a bad fan base but I have not met one bad fan. All fans get crazy and I have never seen a fan send death threats or hate on a hater just for hating the show. Heck! I barely even see them except on videos when it is relevant, like an episode, a top ten best cartoons,etc..

6 Steven Universe Steven Universe is an American animated television series created by Rebecca Sugar for Cartoon Network. The show's based around a young boy by the name of Steven Universe, who is a hybrid of a gem and a human. He lives with his gem friends, Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl.

Although less creepy than Bronies and Fallers, they make up for it by the way a lot of them lash out at any other fandom that tries to interact with them. Bronies, Uncle Grandpa fans, even the show's own producers have been bullied by the more rabid part of the fanbase.

Like Adventure Time fans, they think that their show is the only cartoon to have lesbians, and even when characters are described as being straight, male, or cisgendered will insist they aren't and harass any of their fans that think otherwise.

I feel sorry for any for any sane fans of the show. Steven Universe is pretty decent, but it's being ruined by it's fans fast.

"I'd be embarrassed to watch the show! " You're kidding me, right? You're blaming the show itself for the actions of its fans? That's ridiculous! It's not like SU promotes bullying in any way whatsoever, and it's not the writers' fault either. Stop judging such a great cartoon based on the behavior of the fandom. Oh, and you mentioned Gravity Falls... Same applies. The godawful Billdip shipping doesn't make me embarrassed to watch Sock Opera, does it?

7 My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is an animated children's television series based on the fourth incarnation of Hasbro's My Little Pony franchise. The show follows a studious unicorn (later an alicorn) pony named Twilight Sparkle (Tara Strong) and her friends Applejack (Ashleigh Ball), Rarity (Tabitha St. Germain), Fluttershy (Andrea Libman), Rainbow Dash (Ball), Pinkie Pie (Libman), and dragon... read more

I'm not gonna lie and say that I don't like this show or even say I don't have a favorite character, but the majority of the fanbase just downright awful. I'm not gonna get TOO detailed with what the more adult-like things most fans think about when watching Friendship is Magic, but I do know that it's enough for me to be ashamed to even say I like the show. Thanks to this, I can't say I enjoy this show without someone saying that I get a kick from seeing a pony or a stuffed animal.

Adding to this, the shows okay but some people treat it like it's the most prized possession in the world. Some characters are great when compared to the lack of others, but the characters still have massive flaws in them. The show itself isn't perfect either. If anything, it's pretty mediocre, but everyone treats it like it's super special.

The show creators actually listen to them sometimes

And it makes things stupid, making a character doctor who? Stupid, making two characters life together JUST because they both like music?! Its ridiculous, most the fans are trying to make all the characters lesbians, and hypersexualizeing everything. It was much better when they disregarded the internet and their retarded "headcannon"

8 Rick and Morty Rick and Morty is an American adult animated science fiction sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for Adult Swim.

Watch this get in the top 3 along with the Steven Universe fan base and the Bronies. We can't all forget about how that Szechuan Sauce fiasco went down at McDonald's a few months ago. I respect Rick and Morty to a very high degree, but I never thought its fan base could be THIS toxic and cringe-worthy with all its pretentious claims that "you'd have to have a high IQ" to understand Rick and Morty and overexposure of memes respectively. But hey, at the end of the day, Rick and Morty is still a great show. A fan base doesn't necessarily determine the quality of a show or any other form of entertainment media. But that doesn't mean we can't admit all the wrongs this fan base has gone to. To think the police had to get involved in this stupidity once the fans started throwing protests over Szechuan Sauce...

I liked Rick and Morty, but their fanbase is so annoying. They're so cringy with their "memes" and I have no idea what's so funny about Pickle Rick. Some of them just think they're so smart because they watch the show. Look at what they did in McDonalds, screaming "I'M PICKLE RICK, WHERE'S MY SZECHUAN SAUCE" Please somebody help.

9 SpongeBob SquarePants SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator the late Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. SpongeBob is currently the most popular show on Nickelodeon, as well as the longest running show, running for 23 years, and is beginning its 13th season. The show revolves around a sea sponge called SpongeBob SquarePants and his adventures under the... read more

Imagine enjoying a TV show that's been in your memories and your childhood for a long time, only for people to act like a bunch of retards and make stupid things out of it that literally no one even asked for.
To the person who said that they wouldn't mind if children stayed off the internet, I agree with everything you said. But however, if you think that it's children that agitate you, you should see everything that some teenagers do. They take full advantage of their internet privileges and start making stupid stuff about SpongeBob, like memes, ships, predictions, portray videos, they may seem funny to them and it may have been funny to me for a short while but I liked things better when the SpongeBob fanbase didn't take things too far.
I wonder how the other normal SpongeBob fans feel about this whole Squidward x SpongeBob stupidity that was made on Deviantart. I'd really be so happy if Deviantart gets banned for good, because honestly, the stuff that gets made there are horrendous! Not to mention that the person who made that stupid Squidward's Birthday Gift comic doesn't seem to respect that it's literally a lot of people's childhood.
So pretty much first, there are little kids going on the internet when they should not be, secondly, the teenage fanbase take full advantage of internet privileges by making inappropriate stuff, and lastly, they don't respect people's opinions if they don't like the show/ or they don't respect people's childhood memories. So to sum it all up, they don't respect the show and they pretty much just ruined one of our favorite cartoons, SpongeBob SquarePants.

10 Teen Titans Go

Wrong list. This belongs on cartoons with the worst hatedoms. I don't like the show but did you see me ranting about it being spammed. It's a very easy show to air, since it has no continuity, and it seems to be popular with children. That's why the show is everywhere.

The fandom is mostly made up of retarded little kids. In my experience the adult fans of it are mature about the show and respect others decisions. At least it is cleaner than most other fandoms

The show actually has a rather large fanbase, but it's the show itself that is bad, not the fanbase. In fact, the haters are often times worse in that they bash people just for liking the show (sounds like the SAO hatedom)

The Contenders
11 Star vs. the Forces of Evil "Star vs. the Forces of Evil" is an American animated television comedy produced by Disney Television Animation for Disney XD. It was created by Daron Nefcy and developed by Jordana Arkin and Dave Wasson. The series follows teenage magical princess from the dimension of Mewni Star Butterfly and her teenage human roommate and best friend from Earth Marco Diaz as they live their daily lives, go on adventures... read more

I'm a part of this fandom, at one point it was my main fandom, but I'm now trying to avoid the fandom at all costs so they do not completely ruin for me one of my favorite shows of all time, it is extremely hard to not find the toxic part of this fandom inmedeatly, unlike other fandoms, wich makes this fandom 100 times worse, if someone finds out you watch the show they will inmedeatly ask if you ship Starco and if you don't then... oh boy! Season 3 only made this even worse, it's like everyone has choosen a side in the ship wars at this point and friendly arguments do not exist.

I was just bugged and harrassed by a SVTFOE fanbrat on DeviantArt just because I didn't want to include this show in my crossovers group. She sent me a few notes and kept checking out my profile, which I found to be really creepy. I finally had to block her. I can't believe she was very upset just because I didn't want to bend over backwards to please everyone in the world.

12 Ren & Stimpy The Ren & Stimpy Show, often simply referred to as Ren & Stimpy, is an American animated television series created by John Kricfalusi for Nickelodeon.

I think it's because of the people who created the cancerous, cringe inducing "Rempy".

Ugh. I mean I'm not against the gay community or anything but it's just stupid to ship both Ren and Stimpy.
They make a better duo, then a couple, in my opinion.

They act like Rocko can't even compare to R&S. At best, R&S is actually more or less evenly matched with some of Rocko's "worst" (read: least great) episodes.

13 Total Drama Total Drama is a Canadian animated comedy television series which is a homage and parody to the conventions commonly found in reality television.

I couldn't stand this show for awhile, but it grew on to me. That was until is saw the enormous amounts of shipping that was in the show. The people working on the show probably even know of all the ships and which group of fans will hate which character. Some characters that haven't even seen each other also have been paired up like it was some kind of love story.

Speaking of the characters, things don't get any better. In each new cast of characters, we always seem to have those four characters that won't just stay away from the camera. At season 3, many of the characters received a huge derailment. The "cool" goth girl turned into a goody-two shoes who tried justifying taking a boy who was just reunited with his girlfriend, everyone in one team was only in there to get kicked out in the next few episodes, and don't even get me started on the host.

Since then, we've got two more new casts. Each of the new cast seems to have a "main" antagonist, a mary-sue, and her lack-of-personality love interest. For example, the main character, yes that's what I'm calling her, of Revenge of the Island island is a teenage girl that apparently has no friends, despite having looks, talent, and the ability to easily make friends. This is probably the fault of the creators, but fans still like her. She is constantly being recognized as being relatable for not making friends but you could easily tell that her design does not match her personality, if that's even what you'd call it. Maybe if she kept her original design she'd look like a loser who was trying to hard to get friends, but no. The creators wanted overly-attractive people with regular personalities. There is seriously no way to like these characters when they're in your face half the time.

14 Pokemon Pokémon, abbreviated from the Japanese title of Pocket Monsters and currently advertised in English as Pokémon: The Series, is a Japanese anime television series, which has been adapted for the international television markets. It was first broadcast in Japan on April 1, 1997, in the United States on September 8, 1998.

Most overrated anime of all time. This should replace MLP on this list.

15 Family Guy Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of parents Peter (Fat, Idiotic Dad) and Lois (Nagging Bitchy Wife), their children Meg (Socially Awkward Daughter) Chris (Fat, Idiotic Son), and Stewie (Sociopathic and Genuine Infant); and lastly Brian (Anthromorphic Pet Dog). Definitely should be #1 especially when the elitism was born in 2005.

Should be number one.

16 Adventure Time Adventure Time is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network. The series follows the adventures of a boy named Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada) and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio)—a dog with the magical power to change shape and size at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo. Throughout the show, they... read more

I can not think of a better example.

I don't mind bronies, or fallers, but Adventure Time fans can range to being regular people to downright obnoxious.

First of all, they act like everything about the show is groundbreaking in some way. I just don't get it. Yes its creative, and it is witty, but its not that ground breaking. The post apocalyptic setting is cool and all, but stop acting like it revolutionized animation somehow!

Also fans tend to look at something obvious and say how "deep" it is. Its like a character can just mutter "life is hard" and suddenly the fan base acts like they just cracked the code of life. More often than not, the real meaningful moments are overlooked.

There's also the shipping. I know all fan bases do it, but what's bad about Adventure Time is that there's a point where it looks like the show was hijacked by the fans, and it began to focus on love interests. Nice going guys.

Also just because Marceline and Princess Bubblegum are implied as lesbians, does not make the show avant garde! First of all, this is hardly even the first time Cartoon Network even dealt with homosexuality. They've actually done it quite a lot (Billy and Mandy, Time Squad, Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog etc), if anything, the channel seems to censor more of that type of stuff now than when Cartoon Network was good.

Second, I don't see how lesbianism automatically makes the show great. Maybe if, it can be completely open with it and be direct at it, then it might be notable for doing so on a "kids" cartoon. Otherwise it hasn't really done anything that cartoons in the past haven't already done. Also, no amount of milestone social achievements used for its own sake could ever make up for quality writing.

So while I think it's a decent show, the fans sure did a number to it.

17 Avatar: The Last Airbender Avatar: The Last Airbender is an American animated television series that aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. Avatar: The Last Airbender is set in an Asiatic-like world in which some people are able to manipulate the classical elements by use of psychokinetic variants of Chinese martial arts, known as "bending". This show is often seen as one of the greatest cartoons of all time... read more

It been several years after the show has ended and the shipping is still going on and I sick of hearing about Zutara. Right from the beginning the creator were going to have Aang and Katara together. It is a breathtaking show but the fan bases is annoying.

I don't think that the fans ruined it. The fans are just idiots.

The shipping ruin the original plot.

18 Rocko's Modern Life Rocko's Modern Life is an American animated television series created by Joe Murray for Nickelodeon. The series centers on the surreal life of an anthropomorphic Australian-immigrant wallaby named Rocko as well as his friends: the gluttonous steer Heffer, the neurotic turtle Filburt, and Rocko's faithful dog Spunky.
19 The Amazing World Of Gumball The Amazing World of Gumball is a British-Australian-German-American-Irish children's animated television series created by Ben Bocquelet for Cartoon Network.

The show's fanbase mostly good. But the bad side? It's pure cancer. Especially on Tumblr. I hate the fact that the people there thinks Richard is a bad husband to Nicole and that they always insist on Nicole being a lesbian! And they won't stop bashing on the show's creators because of the shippening episode even though it wasn't mocking fanarts and fanfictions, it was just a tribute. Honestly I think the fanbase there are SU fanbrats who happen to love the show. Ugh... Tumblr ruins everything!

I know millions of people are fans of this show, but I never knew this show has a bad fandom.

Most of the fandom is made of okay people. But the bad side of the fandom is just awful!

20 Teen Titans Teen Titans is an American animated television series created by Glen Murakami, based on the DC Comics characters of the same name.

When it comes to this website, these fans are the worst in my opinion.

Especially when they hate on Teen Titans Go!

21 The Simpsons The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that originally started on April 19, 1987 as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show. It got its own series on December 17, 1989 and is still running as of 2023, making it the longest running animated sitcom. It is about a man named Homer Simpson and his family (wife Marge and children Bart, Lisa and Maggie and pets, Snowball II and Santa's... read more

No...this show doesn't have fans and if it does then I have lost faith in humanity...not really but that would be pretty bad

Yes, this show has fans, and I happen to be one of them.

There are fans of this crap?

23 Uncle Grandpa Uncle Grandpa is an American animated television series created by Peter Browngardt for Cartoon Network that premiered on the network on September 2, 2013. The series is based on Browngardt's animated short of the same name from The Cartoonstitute.

This piece of crap has fans?

24 Dora the Explorer Dora the Explorer (2000 - 2019) is an American preschool educational animated TV series created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, and Eric Weiner in which Dora goes on adventures with her friend, a monkey named Boots.

Is there people that like this car heap.

Wait! People LIKE this garbage?!
I don't want to live on this planet anymore!

This show isn't garbage.
