The Top Ten
Michael Jackson had a... poor relationship with his father. Joseph Jackson was too driven by success for his children that all of them were uncomfortable during their late-teen years, and Michael was no exception. The King of Pop stated that he had "no childhood" as he was pushed into the music industry by his father at a very early age. Like his siblings, Michael would be abused by his father and he was unable to partake in any interests that were outside the Jackson Family business.
The relationship between Michael and his father was also a reason why the singer converted his house into a private amusement park much later on. Up until his death, Michael still had an uneasy relationship with his father.
How was he ruined?
As acclaimed and successful as he was, his personal life was a train-wreck and his father has a domineering mentality that has emotionally harmed his children for decades. Regardless if Michael is one of the most successful musicians ever, emotional scars (especially if paternal/maternal) are not easy to get by). Also, Michael was forced into the music industry, despite having great talent.
The face of Home Alone had his father Kit Culkin as his film manager. The results were particularly ugly on Macaulay's part. Kit was the sole reason why Macaulay was in The Good Son to begin with, and that was because he threatened Macaulay to withdraw his role from Home Alone 2. That, and because his father was incredibly domineering resulted in Macaulay becoming exasperated and drained in appearing in various failed films, ultimately leading to the young actor's retirement from film at age 14.
Since then, Macaulay's relationship with his father has been estranged and the aren't on speaking terms. On a further note, Home Alone director Chris Columbus was also frustrated in working with Kit, to the point where he ensued that there were no child actors with a Stage Parent during the pre-production of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Really just any child actor deserves to be on this list
Corey was forced into acting by his parents at age 3. He was restricted to only reciting and memorizing his lines for films in which he appeared in and he had a close relationship with his parents, the latter having explicitly stated that they never loved him. Made worse in that Corey was the only member of the family who was earning money.
Corey Feldman was extremely jealous of Corey Haim, regarding his success in Hollywood, but, he was also jealous of the fact that Haim had a loving relationship with his parents, whereas his own ones were cruel to him.
He was forced into acting at 3, took drugs and alcohol at 13/14 and he was sexually abused at 14/15, I can’t believe it. He deserved so much better
Judy Garland is known for both, her role as Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz and for her tragic life. Her mother did not help matters on that. On top of being a stage mom, she was abusive and would isolate and lock up Judy if she didn't perform well enough. She even asked studio officials to do the same thing should Judy slip up
Lance was the son of Bill Butterfield, who was aspiring athlete in Dallas. Lance did take his father's place in regards to dreams and became a seasoned and popular athlete in his own right. Unfortunately, Bill was so driven to give the athlete treatment to his son, that it resulted in a terrible relationship, with Bill insulting and beating Lance should he not reach expectation. This all culminated when Lance entered a relationship, which Bill found infuriating and wanting to end said relationship. Finally fed up, Lance shot and killed his own father on December 1995. The trial of the murder was not favorable on the prosecutor's part and the court couldn't find anyone to not vilify Bill, signalling how unlikable Bill was to the general audience. Eventually, Lance confessed to being guilty of manslaughter and was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.
On a side note, defendants to Lance included his sister and even Bill's own father, with the latter stating that Lance shouldn't be ...more
Britney was child beauty pageant contestant. Unfortunately, her mother Kerry insisted she receive botox. At the age of 8! And the worst part about this is even after this was found, Kerry tried to state that other mothers also tried having botox implemented onto their daughters. Talk about being incredibly materialistic right there.
To getting hormone implants to get taller, to breaking down and ripping out her eyelashes, Judith's life was literally Hell. Her life ended up getting cut off by her deranged father.
*Note: I couldn't find Carley's last name. Sorry about that.
Carley was pushed too much into entering beauty pageants by her mother. So much so that Carley developed a split personally called "Darla". Essentially, the abuse that Carley's mother presented resulted in the daughter to develop disassociate personality disorder. The worst part; Carley was 5 years old.
Was shot and killed by his own father. Can't get more "ruined" then that.
His own father killed him. That's something to consider.
Dad killed son. Damn.
Ariel's mother, Chrisoula Workman, was abusive to the point where she lost custody of her. Ariel was since raised by her older sister and fellow actress, Shanelle Gray.
Mónica was pushed into modelling by her mother at the age of 7, despite her father's disagreement. Despite becoming well-known, she eventually developed a bipolar disorder, which led to her suicide at the age of 21.
That explains why his "music" and his personality were so messed up. Thank goodness he got gunned down.
Aaron came from a celebrity family, with his brother Nick being a member of the Backstreet Boys. Aaron was also a singer, with his parents acting as his managers. Unfortunately, this all backfired when his parents were trying to capitalize on his success which caused him to a massive debt by the time he was 18, Aaron then left his parents out of his business after finding out. in 2013, Aaron suddenly filed for bankruptcy, partially due to his parents and also because of his history of drug use.
On a similar note, Aaron's sister Leslie was also being pushed into becoming a singer by their parents, to no success.
If I recall correctly, the song "Cleaning Out My Closet" was directed towards his mother.
His mother, thought that he was lying about being sexually abused by a babysitter. He channeled that rage, and wrote "Daddy" one of the most disturbing songs I've ever heard.
He was raped by "Daddy"
