Best Chapters in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

This list will account for the events during the daily life segments of the game along with the trials.
The Top Ten
1 Smile at Hope in the Name of Despair

Outside of the obviously amazing trial, the action packed daily life really made me appreciate Nagito as the amazing antagonist he was. Trying to foil Nagito's plan before it was too late was exhilarating and discovering the truth about fat Byakuya was a nice piece of closure. I personally wasn't as emotionally attached to Chiaki as most people, so that element didn't impact me as much.

2 Do Ultimate Robots Dream of Clockwork?

I find everything to do with the funhouse to be a really cool idea, sure, the motive was quite forceful, but I found the atmosphere to be unbelievably oppressive and really brought back that feel that the first game had. You also get to play as Nagito, enjoy the antics of Mechamaru, and even go into an escape room. I also found the conclusion to the trial to be really well done.

3 Destination Despair

The introduction to all of the characters was nice, even if the part at the start took a bit too long. The main reason I love this part is the buildup to Nagito snapping, and Fatogami trying to keep everybody alive. The party was an obvious sign that something was going to go wrong, so the unease of knowing that someone was going to wind up dead was near unbearable.

4 Sea and Punishment, Sin and Coconuts

I really loved the trial in this chapter, it was absolutely amazing, but I found most of the other parts to be fairly dull, the fanservice beach party scene was a tad unnecessary and the Twilight Syndrome Murder Case was fairly boring, even if it did allude to a couple of twists later in the game.

5 This is the End, Goodbye Academy of Despair

Despite the really good twist in the trial, the collecting of evidence wasn't vewry satisfying, as it took place in this self contained little world. The reason that it worked so nicely in the first game, is because each individual area was brought up and you interest was piqued, by having so much stuff behind a single door, most of the curiosity was taken away.

6 Trapped by the Ocean Scent

I found this to be very underwhelming. Akane was an idiot to destructive levels, resulting in Nekomaru's near death, people tried redeeming Hiyoko despite the fact that she was still rude to everybody, and the despair disease, the worst motive in the series, was used. I don't like the chapter at all
