Top Ten Best Characters from Westerns

The Top Ten
1 The Man with No Name - The Dollars Trilogy

Many western characters were inspired by this guy, even Marty McFly was inspired by him (recall that particular scene in the third movie where he used a bullet proof vest).

Every guy wants to be Blondie, don't they?

2 Rooster Cogburn - True Grit
3 Tuco Ramírez - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

How to describe dear Tuco? Feisty, scruffy, mercurial, temperamental, entertainingly psychotic, lovably goofy, and the one you end up caring about the most. Utterly hilarious, and his dysfunctional bromance with Blondie is timeless. And he has that adorable little run.
Possibly the greatest movie character ever.

Determined and temperamental. So funny and One of the best characters ever!

Trying to enjoy whatever he can salvage.

We could all be Tuco!

4 Frank - Once Upon a Time in the West
5 Doc Holliday - Tombstone
6 The Sundance Kid - Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
7 Tonto - The Lone Ranger Tonto is a fictional character, the either Potawatomi or Comanche companion of the Lone Ranger, a popular American Western character.
8 John Reid - The Lone Ranger
9 Butch Cavendish - The Lone Ranger
10 Chuncho Muñoz - A Bullet for the General

Scrappy and sensitive, Chuncho would shoot his own friends if he feels they have betrayed him, yet deeply cares about his brother.

The Contenders
11 James West - Wild Wild West
12 Harmonica - Once Upon a Time in the West

Definition of bad-ass. One of the reasons I started play harmonica

13 Red Harrington - The Lone Ranger
14 Juan Martinez - The Ox-Bow Incident
15 Albert Stark - A Million Ways to Die in the West
16 Latham Cole - The Lone Ranger
17 Silver - The Lone Ranger
18 Ethan Edwards - The Searchers

He may not have been the most likable character, but he had me on an emotional roller coaster. I genuinely clapped when he picked up his niece and said
"Let's go home"

19 Vin - The Magnificent Seven

Or Shichiroji's, for that matter (Sorry, I confused him with Chris).

To be honest, he lacks Kambei Shimada's warmth and presence. But he's pretty cool, I guess.

20 Mary O'Donnell - Don't Turn the Other Cheek

A bespectacled Irish action girl virgin Catholic revolutionary reporter who comes to Dmitri and Max's rescue many times. Shame she never got the thanks she deserved.

21 Artemus Gordon - Wild Wild West
22 Adelita - A Bullet for the General

A crafty, fierce bandita with issues. Pretty much saves Martine Bestwick and her dodgy accent.

23 Pablo Ramirez - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
24 Helen Ramirez - High Noon

Shrewd and dignified, she remains a great businesswoman even as she faces prejudice in her town for being Mexican and female.

25 Rita Escobar - Wild Wild West
