Top Ten Christian Rock Singers In Bands

The Top Ten
1 Michael Barnes (Red)

Guttural screams that drive passion into your heart. Epic choruses that melt your soul. Listen to "Darkest Part," "The War We Made," and "The Evening Hate" to understand this man's legendary capabilities.

Michael Barnes is amazing!

Listen to ordinary world

Way better than Cooper

2 John Cooper (Skillet) John Landrum Cooper, professionally credited as John L. Cooper, is an American musician, singer and songwriter. He has been the lead vocalist, bassist and co-founder of the Grammy-nominated American Christian rock band Skillet since 1996.

Dude, his voice is definitely the most unique on this list. NO ONE ELSE has an epic, almost cool gravel tone in their voice. He does it, does it loud, sings on key still, and is just an amazing vocalist. Barnes is good too, but kind of just a plain singer. John Cooper really is in a league of his own.

First of all, I like skillet. They have good songs and awesome guitar rifts. However; john cooper is not a good singer, and should not even be considerd for this list.

Only reason he's on this list is because the band so popular...

John belongs on the top on this list in all ways.

3 Micheal Sweet (Stryper)

Michael sweet is an excellent singer. He has an amazing vocal range! He has been in stryper since the mid 80's and his voice is still amazing.

Listen to his old stuff and new stuff still amazing. This group and Michael have soul the test of time.

Michael sweet is one of the best singers along side of dale Thompson

Listen to the entire album To Hell with the Devil, and The Covering

4 John Schlitt (Petra)

Definitely one of the more unique voices in the industry and obviously one of the best.

This guy is an amazing vocalist

One of the best voices in Rock music history.

John Cooper and John Schlitt are my favourite in Christian music. Both has got different style and they are unique in their own way. But I think in this list Schlitt should be No. 1 - SKM

5 Trevor McNevan (Thousand Foot Krutch)

Trevor McNevan's voice is very versatile. He can do anything from rap, to metal, to singing softer songs.

I like his style with the rock/ rap. It kinda sounds like a modern D.C. talk.

6 Jen Ledger (Skillet) Jennifer "Jen" Carole Ledger is a English drummer mostly known for playing in the band and being the co-vocalist for Skillet since 2008 when Lori Peters decided to retire from the band. Jen was born in December 8th, 1989 in Coventry, United Kingdom. Before moving to America, she attended the Blue Coat Church in England from 2001 to 2006. She tried out for the band in December of 2007 before Skillet accepted her into the band in 2008. Examples for her performances are Awake and Alive (2009), Hero (2009), and Not Gonna Die (2013)

Ha and she's not even the lead singer

Skillet is awesome she's awesome

7 Lacey Sturm (Flyleaf) Lacey Nicole Sturm is an American singer and songwriter from Homestead, Florida, raised in Arlington, Texas. She is co-founder and former lead vocalist of the hard rock band Flyleaf.

This girl is an amazing person and is just full of talent

8 Mac Powell (Third Day)

Mac Powell and Bart Millard should be the top two spots, the others are just overrated, especially skillet. Yeah skillets a good band but I'd never put their singer in the number 1 spot

Great voice! I could listen to him sing all day! He sounds just as good live as he does recorded.

9 Dawn Michele (Fireflight)
10 Michael Tait (Newsboys)
The Contenders
11 Stephen Christian (Anberlin)
12 T. J. Harris (Decyfer Down)

Good voice, impressive range, awesome band!

13 Bart Millard (Mercyme)
14 Benjamin Birdsong (The Birdsongs)

This guy has a weird ability to actually pour emotion into his songs (try tired, will you save me, and fight for you) in a way that no one else can, except maybe john cooper in stars and forgiven. His voice is better than average, so I would put Benjamin in the top 5 for sure, maybe #2 spot behind cooper

I have to agree with you. Cooper and Benjamin Birdsong are the best singers on this list. To round out my top 5, behind Cooper and Benjamin, I have to put Reeves from Impending Doom, Tim Lambesis from As I Lay Dying, and Matt Smith from Theocracy. No one else really stands out imho.

15 Jeremy Dunn (Nine Lashes)

Only idiots don't vote for Jeremy

16 Ariel Bloomer (Icon for Hire)
17 Rhett Walker (Rhett Walker Band)
18 Jon Foreman (Switchfoot)

Amazing writer, amazing voice, amazing talent, no doubt.

19 Christian Rivel-Liljegren (Narnia)
20 Tobymac (Diverse City) Toby McKeehan, better known by his stage name TobyMac, is a Christian hip hop recording artist, music producer, hip-hop and pop artist, songwriter and author.

Tobymac rocks the mic effortlessly, and he's 50! Jesus Freak, Tonight, and Funky Jesus Music wouldn't exist if not for him. Go Gotee!

Wish he was in top 3. He's my favorite singer of all time!

21 Kevin Max (Audio Adrenaline)
22 Justin Cordle (We As Human)
23 Marc Martel

In a league of his own. Simply an unreal voice and talent. AWESOME

24 Mike Donehey (Tenth Avenue North)

Mike Donehey is a brilliant and inspiring singer, mad vocal range... simply awesome
