Best Movie Adaptations of A Christmas Carol

By far, the best presentation of this classic and beloved story.
Scott plays Scrooge as a real person rather than a caricature.
My all time favorite version
Starring George C. Scott, David Warner, Susannah York, Frank Finlay, Edward Woodward and Nigel Davenport.

Well it's a good movie but I don't think It was the best Christmas carol apdition it could be one of but it did get a little stale at some scenes but I think Michael Kane does a good Scrooge impression and the muppets are very likeable and enjoyable here I mean their fun to watch in this movie but it's true that the muppets don't always do good versions of other movies and stories I mean have you seen the wizard of oz version of the muppets and yeah I think this movies a great way to introduce kids to the classic Charles dickens tale same with the Mickey Mouse version and to me it's just a heart warming fun family classic and I do think it's one of the best muppet movies even if it's not as good as the first muppet movie or muppet caper or take mathattan and stuff but it's fun to watch and if I ever have kids this and the Mickey version well be their introduction to Christmas carol and everyone who's fan of Christmas movies love Christmas carol because it's a timeless classic and I ...more
Stays close to the book, is special because it really explains Scrooge's character - and the change.
I saw this on Disney.

Forgive me, but there is no way that this could be anything but No. #1. I don't know a single person who would watch another version over this one. Many consider it to be the greatest Christmas movie ever made. It's success was so great that Alastair Sim reprised his role as Scrooge in an Oscar-winning animated short film version. This is like ranking The Beatles lower than Nickelback on a Top Ten Bands list.
This was just incredible. Such a good, strong, Christmas movie. Christmas is not the same without this.
The definitive version which all others are compared to. Exemplary.
Nothing can beat Alistair Sims as Scrooge. Sorry.

Follows the script more than the muppets
The best one. Should be top 3
This one is scary
I remember seeing this at IMAX in 2009.

I LOVE MICKEY’S CHRISTMAS CAROL SO MUCH! I like the characters so much!
Top favorite Mickey Christmas Carol characters
1. Tiny Tim
2. Bob(Played by Mickey)
3. Ebenezer Scrooge
4. The ghost of Christmas Past
5. Jacob Marley ( played by Goofy)
6. Fred( Played by Donald)
Who else found this list when it wasn’t winter? Also I love Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

This movie version is a tradition with me and my family to watch to every year

This is quite a divisive adaptation in as much as, in the same way that Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty is often considered a poor wannabe of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, this is considered by many to be a poor wannabe of Oliver!
Love, Love, Love this version, saw it in the theater as a child. I will always have it playing as I decorate my Christmas tree.
A spiritual cousin to Oliver! Which likewise was a musical adaptation of a Dickens novel.
There are definitely some Oliver! Esque moments in this one.

I love how they fleshed out the other characters more in this version. Fred looking to slide around just brings a smile to my face. It just feels like a Christmas movie

Wow Barbie is on the list. The over-hated plastic doll. Meanwhile action figures for boys are praised.

I, David Rivera like Christmas Carol - The Movie the animated film and other animated and animated films like Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol (1962), A Christmas Carol (1971), The Stingiest Man in Town (1978), Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol (1979), A Christmas Carol (1982), Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983), Brer Rabbit's Christmas Carol (1992), A Christmas Carol (1994), A Flintstones Christmas Carol (1994), A Christmas Carol (1997), A Christmas Carol (2006) and A Christmas Carol (2009) and I, David Rivera prefer animated Christmas Carol way better than Live Action Christmas Carol.

A Flintstones Saturnalia Carol.

This movie is the best that it's on twice.
I totally agree Mickey’s Christmas Carol is awesome!
