Before this the Toyota was not taken seriously in New Zealand as a rural vehicle partly because it was a Japanese car. This commercial involved Barry Crump an author whose book about country life was bought by 20% of the New Zealand population along with the actor Lloyd Scott playing a "wimp" from the city. It shows how the car manages to tackle a ridiculously tough route. Overnight it made the Toyota Hilux the car everyone wanted in the country.
A clip about a young man who realizes he ought to talk his mate out of driving drunk. The clip has become so beloved in New Zealand that references to it even appear on T Shirts and the lines especially "you know I can't grab your ghost chips! " are instantly recognizable to many if not most New Zealanders.
