And why not? Australia is one of the most peaceful, successful countries in the world, so we’re obviously doing something right. We have vast restrictions on ILLEGAL immigration and are conservative on other issues, but to be fair, we also adopt a few relatively progressive stances (e.g. multiethnicism and gun restrictions)
I emigrated here 6 years ago and it surprised me how unlike it's global image Australia really is. It's very conservative, there are more rules than you could imagine and people are generally very law abiding. It's actually quite authoritarian and people can be very officious.
