Top 10 Most Controversial Disney Movies of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Mulan (2020)

Was shamelessly filmed in super-close proximity to a bunch of Islamophobic concentration camps in China, and made everything even worse by openly thanking the government of the province running those concentration camps for letting Disney film there (as evidenced in the film's credits).

And by extension, the live-action remakes as a whole. I personally would've chosen the Lion King remake but whatever, this one sucked too.

2 Song of the South

So controversial its actually been banned in the States, which begs the question as to why people are more forgiving about Gone with the Wind which tread the same waters and featured Hattie McDaniel. If anything Gone with the Wind glorified slavery even more than Song of the South did!

The Disney movie so controversial that Disney has gone out of its way to try and make everyone forget this movie ever existed.

I almost feel like you can begin and end the list with this one. Even Disney seem largely embarrassed by it.

No Disney movie is more controversial than this one.

3 Peter Pan
4 Dumbo
5 The Black Cauldron

Game was better

6 Aladdin
7 Who Framed Roger Rabbit
8 Alice in Wonderland
9 Lady and the Tramp
10 The Lone Ranger (2013)

Thank god Disney never changed Big Thunder Mountain into this travesty of a movie.

The Contenders
11 The Three Caballeros
12 Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
13 Savage Sam

Downright glorifies genocide against indigenous peoples. Surprised this movie wasn't given the exact same treatment as Song of the South.

14 Planes

Every single character in this movie is a painfully unfunny racial stereotype.

15 Pocahontas

Did the people at Disney seriously think that this movie was gonna be a greater success than The Lion King?

16 Mr. Magoo

Makes a complete mockery of the nearsighted and the elderly, and the "comedy" isn't even that funny to begin with.

17 The Aristocats

Who thought that Chinese Siamese cat was a good idea?

18 Bambi
19 The Little Mermaid
20 Ralph Breaks the Internet

Wasn't super controversial upon its initial release, but it certainly is now ever since Colleen Ballinger (aka Miranda Sings) has been exposed as a serial child groomer.

21 Fantasia

Used to be a lot more racist thanks to one particular character.

22 Melody Time

Right up there with Peter Pan in terms of frightening racism.

23 The Rescuers

Features a very brief frame of a topless lady and also calls Africa a country.

24 Frozen
25 The Lion King

All of the hyenas appear to be racist stereotypes of sorts.
