Although the axolotl is colloquially known as a "walking fish", it is not a fish, but an amphibian. The axolotl is only native to Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco in Mexico. Axolotls in the wild are mostly grassy brown or black, but in captivity, they can even glow in... read more

In my opinion, moray eels are the best. For starters, they look positively awesome. They also have a second set of jaws inside their mouth, and can reach up to 13 feet long, with some weighing 66 pounds.

My favorite is lionfish but it is not here so I voted for moray my second favourite :)

With their long tails they are a definitely a strange sight, but a cool one. They use their amazing tails not only for swimming, but for stunning fish. That's right, they swing their tails at schools of fish, dazing the prey they strike, and making it easy to catch.

In adults, all but one species possesses lungs and are able to use them when their watering holes dry up. They tunnel just below the surface of their dry pool and survive on air in a state of dormancy. This makes them cool in my book.

14 Piranha A piranha or piraña, a member of family Characidae in order Characiformes, is a freshwater fish that inhabits South American rivers, floodplains, lakes and reservoirs.

Piranhas, unlike their reputation, are not as bloodthirsty as people think, but they're still really cool.
