Many Filipinos sees the United States as their best allies and holds a high opinion of Americans sometimes to a fault. Most Filipinos who dislike the United States are the local communists.

Although an enemy during the WWII, the Philippines considers Japan as its best ally in Japan. Many views the Japanese as disciplined and principled people (such as politicians committing seppuku or harakiri as it is known here if found guilty of a crime in contrast to a typical pinoy poltician who will do anything to keep hold his or her position).
