Top 10 Cover Songs by Death Metal Bands

Death metal bands have covered metal and non-metal songs. Some death metal covers are seen as controversial. This list is the place to say what you think about these types of covers.
The Top Ten
Painkiller - Death Painkiller - Death Cover Art

Excellent Judas Priest cover. But I know some Judas Priest fans don't like it, mostly for the death growls.

I knew this would be number one.

Black Metal - Vader Black Metal - Vader Cover Art

A great Venom cover, in my opinion.

Fight Fire with Fire - Vader Fight Fire with Fire - Vader Cover Art

Metallica cover (the original is probably the heaviest Metallica song)

Oops!...I Did It Again - Children of Bodom Oops!...I Did It Again - Children of Bodom Cover Art

It's too funny not to vote for

Britney Spears death metal cover, LOL.

Circle of the Tyrants - Opeth Circle of the Tyrants - Opeth Cover Art

Celtic Frost cover. Possibly the best Celtic Frost cover.

Aces High - Children of Bodom Aces High - Children of Bodom Cover Art

Iron Maiden cover. This is one of the fastest and most aggressive Iron Maiden songs. I think Children of Bodom cover developed the original to its logical and natural direction but I know some Iron Maiden fans don't like the cover.

Raining Blood - Vader Raining Blood - Vader Cover Art

Vader are one of the best metal bands for covers.

Cold Sweat - Kalmah Cold Sweat - Kalmah Cover Art

Excellent Thin Lizzy cover.
Many metal bands love Thin Lizzy and made covers - Metallica, Megadeth, Vader, Gamma Ray, Mastodon, and many more.

God of Thunder - Death God of Thunder - Death Cover Art
Circle of the Tyrants - Obituary Circle of the Tyrants - Obituary Cover Art

Celtic Frost cover (the original is one of my favorite songs by Celtic Frost)

The Contenders
Balls to the Wall - Amon Amarth

Originally by Accept. Transition to death growls sounds natural to me in this cover.

Children of the Grave - Amon Amarth

Black Sabbath cover. My favorite song with Ozzy.

Valhalla - Heaven Shall Burn Valhalla - Heaven Shall Burn Cover Art

Blind Guardian went extreme. The result sounds like melodic death metal.
Original singer Hansi K├╝rsch was invited to provide additional clean vocals. Besides, Hansi performed 3 really brutal screams - actually more brutal and ear raping than the death growls.
I am a massive Blind Guardian fan and I am OK with this cover - I mean, I wouldn't say they ruined the original (usually fanboys/fangirls of any band say "they ruined the original"). I am more tolerant to experiments in music - this cover in particular explored the potential of the original to be made in a different style (extreme genre).

No Remorse - Cannibal Corpse No Remorse - Cannibal Corpse Cover Art

Metallica cover

Would? - Opeth Would? - Opeth Cover Art

A song originally by Alice In Chains.

Cacophony cover (originally a neo-classical metal instrumental by Cacophony, I.e. Marty Friedman and Jason Becker).

Black Sabbath and Growls don't work. I hate this just like I hate all of Cannibal Corpse

Black Sabbath Cover

Somebody Put Something in My Drink - Children of Bodom Somebody Put Something in My Drink - Children of Bodom Cover Art

The Ramones cover

Black Night - Deicide

Deep Purple BRUTAL cover. I kinda like it. But I know it's a controversial cover and many people don't like it. I guess I am just more open to such experiments.

The Exorcist - Cannibal Corpse The Exorcist - Cannibal Corpse Cover Art
