The Top Ten

2 Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica

This is a bit complicated. Metallica did a cover of Thin Lizzy but it's not the original - it was also a cover, a rock cover of a folk song. The original is an Irish folk song. - Metal_Treasure

Thin Lizzy did it so much better. - 445956

4 Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Guns N' Roses

A lot better than the original, and probably my 2nd favorite Guns N' Roses song. They did a very good job with the cover. - Element119

I definitely agree - much much better than the original. Maybe this should be at #1 on this list. - Metal_Treasure

Bob Dylan wasn't a very good singer but an excellent song writer and since Axl Rose is a good singer with a very high vocal range Guns N' Roses nailed this cover and made it better than the orginal - christangrant

10 The Wizard - Blind Guardian

The original is very good and I know Blind Guardian have respect for Uriah Heep and their goal wasn't to show they are better than Uriah Heep. Nevertheless, Blind Guardian cover makes the song sound more modern, more powerful and of course, heavier. - Metal_Treasure
