Top Ten Best Cover Versions of Thin Lizzy Songs

The Top Ten

1 Angel of Death - Gamma Ray

Angel Of Death is the best metal song by Thin Lizzy and this is its best cover version.
Gamma Ray - one of the top German metal bands and this cover proves it, too. - Metal_Treasure

2 Massacre - Iron Maiden

This song (esp. its riff) is awesome and Iron Maiden did a great job - their version is faster but it didn't butcher the song! - Metal_Treasure

3 Killer On the Loose - Paul Di'anno Killer On the Loose - Paul Di'anno

Paul Di'Anno: ex-singer of Iron Maiden.
Love the original and this cover. - Metal_Treasure

4 Emerald - Mastodon

There's a very cool and extended instrumental section in Emerald and Mastodon got it right. - Metal_Treasure

5 Cold Sweat - Kalmah

Kalmah - currently one of the best melodic death metal bands. Formed in 1998, Finland. - Metal_Treasure

6 Whiskey In the Jar - Metallica Whiskey In the Jar - Metallica

It's not an original Thin Lizzy song but Metallica covered the rocked out version of Thin Lizzy, so it's eligible. Thin Lizzy did a rock cover of Lena Bourne Fish - the original isn't rock, it's an Irish folk song. - Metal_Treasure

7 Cold Sweat - Megadeth Cold Sweat - Megadeth

This was possibly the best song from Super Collider. Thin Lizzy is awesome. - IronSabbathPriest

@IronSabbathPriest, ha - believe it or not, I wrote about Super Collider that the album wasn't good and the best song on it was this Thin Lizzy cover. I'm really happy some other people notice the greatness of Thin Lizzy - a criminally underrated rock/metal band. - Metal_Treasure

8 Angel of Death - Vader

Some may say this version is "more metal" than Gamma Ray's rendition because of the death growls and additional darkness of Vader, which is true.

But there's one thing I don't like in Vader's cover - the original song has a great riff and Vader lost it, while Gamma Ray emphasized it. I also think that Gamma Ray solo is better. - Metal_Treasure

Vader is a death metal band from Poland, formed in 1983. They are still one of the best death metal bands. - Metal_Treasure

9 Thunder and Lightning - Assassin

Assassin was a heavy metal band formed in San Diego in 1983. - Metal_Treasure

10 Thunder and Lightning - Gothic Slam

Gothic Slam was a thrash band formed in 1987 in New Jersey. Disbanded in 1993. - Metal_Treasure

The Contenders

12 The Sun Goes Down - Jorn Lande

One of the most beautiful Thin Lizzy songs and a beautiful version from Jorn. - Metal_Treasure

13 Don't Believe a Word - Def Leppard
14 Don't Believe a Word - Gary Moore Don't Believe a Word - Gary Moore

Gary Moore - the biggest Phil Lynott fan and his best friend. - Metal_Treasure
