Top Ten Best Cover Versions of Thin Lizzy Songs
Angel Of Death is the best metal song by Thin Lizzy and this is its best cover version.
Gamma Ray - one of the top German metal bands and this cover proves it, too.
This song (esp. its riff) is awesome and Iron Maiden did a great job - their version is faster but it didn't butcher the song!
Paul Di'Anno: ex-singer of Iron Maiden.
Love the original and this cover.
There's a very cool and extended instrumental section in Emerald and Mastodon got it right.
Kalmah - a melodic death metal band. Formed in 1998, Finland.
It's not an original Thin Lizzy song but Metallica covered the rocked out version of Thin Lizzy, so it's eligible. Thin Lizzy did a rock cover of Lena Bourne Fish - the original isn't rock, it's an Irish folk song.
Oh Yes, Amazing Cover.
@IronSabbathPriest, ha - believe it or not, I wrote about Super Collider that the album wasn't good and the best song on it was this Thin Lizzy cover. I'm really happy some other people notice the greatness of Thin Lizzy - a criminally underrated rock/metal band.
This was possibly the best song from Super Collider. Thin Lizzy is awesome.
Some may say this version is "more metal" than Gamma Ray's rendition because of the death growls and additional darkness of Vader, which is true.
But there's one thing I don't like in Vader's cover - the original song has a great riff and Vader lost it, while Gamma Ray emphasized it. I also think that Gamma Ray solo is better.
Vader is a death metal band from Poland, formed in 1983. They are still one of the best death metal bands.
Gothic Slam was a thrash band formed in 1987 in New Jersey. Disbanded in 1993.
Assassin was a heavy metal band formed in San Diego in 1983.
The Newcomers
Gary Moore - the biggest Phil Lynott fan and his best friend.
Bernie Shaw is one of the Uriah Heep singers. Great vocals, awesome cover.
Very very good
One of the most beautiful Thin Lizzy songs and a beautiful version from Jorn.
An interesting rendition from her album "Grace Submerged (2007).
