Top 10 Cutest Dog Breeds

The Top Ten
1 Pug The Pug is a breed of dog with a wrinkly, short-muzzled face and curled tail. The breed has a fine, glossy coat that comes in a variety of colours, most often fawn or black, and a compact square body with well-developed muscles. However, Pugs have difficulty breathing, due to their extreme head shape... read more

Pugs are truly one of the cutest dogs on the planet. They are very funny, as the videos show pugs running around and playing with each other. I recommend you watch Pug Lou Lou on YouTube. She was dressed as a bride, Harry Pugger, a minion, and even a lion! The lion was roaring, but in reality, it was just cute, adorable little squeaks. So cute!

They have bad genes, and I feel bad for them because they are so cute. Be careful if you get a pug and you have a swimming pool, because pugs can really get hurt when swimming. Pugs are very cute, and if you're hating on them, then you have never actually experienced a pug. There was a video of a mommy pug licking and taking care of her baby pugs. How is that even close to ugly?

2 Golden Retriever The Golden Retriever is a large-sized breed of dog bred as gun dogs to retrieve shot waterfowl such as ducks and upland game birds during hunting and shooting parties, and were named 'retriever' because of their ability to retrieve shot game undamaged.

Golden Retrievers are beautiful dogs, with their long golden coat and cute looks as puppies. I am glad they scored second. However, I disagree with the choice for the first: I don't think pugs are cute. Not only do their squashed faces and large eyes cause diverse medical issues, but they just aren't really attractive to me. In fact, I am more drawn to larger breeds, but alas, this is just my opinion. German Shepherds, Collies, Huskies - these are my type of dogs!

I grew up with a Golden Retriever named Lizzy, and now I have another Golden Retriever named Lily, also known as Tiger Lily. I really love Golden Retrievers. They are really adorable as puppies. My first Golden Retriever, Lizzy, had nine beautiful yet adorable puppies, and I loved them so much.

Not only are Golden Retrievers family-friendly, but they can also be loyal best friends and companions. The Golden Retriever deserves the Most Loyal and Best in Show award, in my opinion.

3 Siberian Husky The Siberian Husky is a medium size, dense-coat working dog breed that originated in north-eastern Siberia.

They are beautiful and amazing. Sadly, I don't live in Alaska. I live in sunny California, where the climate is not good for them.

Huskies are hyper, yet they can get into cuddly moods, too. If you have an active life, this is the perfect breed for you. Also, if you live in colder environments, your Husky will love it! Just show it who's boss, otherwise, he or she might end up walking you!

The Siberian Husky is my favorite dog in the whole world. I wish I had one. They make a great family pet, and they're so beautiful with their blue eyes and black and white or red and white fur. How can anyone resist?

4 Dachshund The Dachshund is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed with floppy ears, and short fur. Although, this Dog, which comes in a variety of colours, is not hypoallergenic.

Dachshunds are the cutest dogs on the planet. I mean, look at that adorable face! How could you think that Dachshunds are ugly? I have a Dachshund whose name is Gus, and he is the cutest thing ever! He is so tiny, with his little wiggling, cute, long, brown body. They are also known as Sausage Dogs, which is so funny! Do not go around trying to say they are ugly, because that offends my Dachshund!

In October 2021, Paula, (my aunt), was standing at the door holding a little cage. I knew it was Gus and I was so excited! I had COVID at the time, so she handed it to us through the window. When I opened the cage, inside was the most adorable thing I had ever seen! He was about as small as 3 inches, or even less, because he was just a baby at the time!

One time, he had the zoomies and was running around the pool outside. Then he came running at the screen door and whacked into it! He was okay, and it did not break. It was so funny! He does a lot of funny things. His ears flop around when he runs, and his ears fold back a lot, which makes him look adorable! I bring Gus with me usually on Fridays to school (not in the school, just in the car), and when I walk up to the building, he jumps and sticks his head out the window! He also does this when my mother comes to pick me up, and it makes me smile no matter what! I love him more than anything on the planet, and he is adorable.

5 Pomeranian The Pomeranian is a breed of dog of the Spitz type, named for the Pomerania region in Central Europe. Pomeranian Dogs tend to get sick very often, however.

There are many dog breeds that are adorable, particularly the little ones, but I believe that the Pomeranian is the cutest one out of them all.

I LOVE Pom Poms! I had one named Pippy. She was a pure white Pom. She was the best behaved dog ever. She could fetch, was best at being a lap dog, and she played too. I loved her so much! She was the perfect little dog. Sadly, she was only 5 when she got hit by a school bus. I think she will be in heaven when I go. Happy thought!

And now, I have a Pom Pom named Puddles. She is black and white, very cocky but still very sweet. And I love her. Sorry for this being so long. I just got emotional. What I wanted to say was, POM POMS are the cutest, most well-behaved dogs ever if you train them right. Thanks for reading this far if you have. Get a Pomeranian if you are looking for a good lap dog. You won't regret it (sorry if I have misspelled some words, haha).

6 Labrador Retriever A variation of the Labrador Retriever, the Yellow Lab is known for its friendly and outgoing nature. Originating from Newfoundland, not Labrador as the name might imply, they are highly trainable and often used in roles such as search and rescue, guide dogs for the visually impaired, and as family pets... read more

I know they're so cute. I used to have one, but someone stole him when I went inside to get him some water! I was so mad I was yelling his name for like 25 minutes, and then I realized he had been stolen. (That happened last year).

Many people believe that the best breed of dog is a Labrador for their looks, personality, and care for their owners. Although Labradors are known to have hip problems in their old age and can easily put on weight, with a little extra love they will be your best friend. Everybody has seen Labradors on the covers of magazines, toilet paper, and ads. They are obviously the most popular breed of dog.

7 Yorkshire Terrier The Yorkshire Terrier is a small dog breed of terrier type, developed during the 19th century in Yorkshire, England, to catch rats in clothing mills.

Yorkshire Terriers are so cute! If they want food, they'll make goo-goo eyes that you can't resist, leading you to give them a piece of food. My big sister Chelsea has a mix Yorkshire Terrier. When she comes over, Zoey, the dog, makes goo-goo eyes at me, and I can't resist but to give her a piece.

I have an older sister, and I always like to annoy her with my dream dogs list. Number one is a Yorkie! If I hadn't voted for this adorable dog, it would have been a Shih Tzu because my dog is a cross between a Shih Tzu, a Maltese (Why isn't that on the list?), and a Poodle! He is a Schmoodle.

8 Shih Tzu A shih tzu also known as the Chrysanthemum Dog, is a toy dog breed, weighing 10 - 12 pounds when full grown, with long silky hair.

Excuse me, but I have a Shih Tzu. This might sound biased, but it's not. Winston is sitting in my lap right now being adorable, so I think they at least deserve to be in the top five. I mean, who made this list? Yes, Golden Retriever puppies are cute, but when they get older, they aren't as cute (they are cool dogs to have, though). And then the pug? Yes, even my friend has one, but they are NOT that cute. Don't even get me started on the Siberian Husky. I take back that top five thing. Top three, if not first, definitely!

I have the cutest Shih Tzu ever, in my opinion. But my Shih Tzu is handsome, curious, and funny. My Shih Tzu may be 12 years old now (84 in dog years), but he is still energetic and playful. If you are curious, my Shih Tzu is called Prince. He is grey and white, he loves me, and I love him. There are different types of Shih Tzus: some have long hair, some have short hair. Also, one more thing, do yourselves a favor and own a Shih Tzu in the future.

9 Beagle The Beagle is a breed of small-sized hound, similar in appearance to the much larger foxhound. The Beagle is a scent hound, developed primarily for hunting hare.

I'm 13 and have had my beautiful beagle, Daisy May, since I was 4. She always makes me smile. All my friends get jealous when I say I have a beagle. She is truly a blessing and the most adorable thing ever. If you want a pet that'll make you smile every day, a beagle is definitely a great choice. Let's not forget the infamous Snoopy.

Beagles are very sweet, kind-hearted, and have adorable eyes. Beagles make great companions while you are hunting and are even loyal. I have a book series based on a Beagle named Shiloh, and these books are a must-read. Beagles are wonderful dogs and they are also very family-friendly.

10 Corgi A small herding dog breed originating from Wales, Corgis are known for their distinct short legs and long bodies. Popular as both working dogs and pets, they have a lively and affectionate temperament. There are two main types: the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi.

My twin Corgis are amazing. They have huge personalities in a convenient package, genuinely like big dogs in little dog suits. They served as learning-to-walk partners for each of my children, allowing them to use a Corgi as a walker, complete with fistfuls of hair! They have never failed to give love. I've never met a Corgi I didn't like, and that goes for the owners, too!

I LOVE my Corgi. She has a HUGE personality in a 30 lb package: she's smart, silly, talkative, a complete love-bug, and just a hilarious character. And boy, can she snore - just like a honey bear (I've blamed my husband a few times)! She melts my heart every night when I get home from work by greeting me at the top of the stairs with a silly smile and a one-paw wave. She makes my life so much better.

11 Cocker Spaniel Cocker Spaniels are dogs belonging to two breeds of the spaniel dog type: the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel, both of which are commonly called simply Cocker Spaniel in their countries of origin.

Cocker Spaniels are adorable. They have beautiful, long, silky, smooth hair with an innocent facial expression. They are also very elegant dogs who look simply stunning. So far, I think Cocker Spaniels are the best. Bichon Frises, however, look really stupid. They don't look cute at all! They seem like the type of pet old ladies carry around.

I LOVE these dogs! I have three. Their names are Lucy, Lady, and Leo. I treat them like my very own children, and my REAL children treat them like their brothers and sisters, lol. When my grandchildren visit, my dogs love to play in the garden and get a good tummy tickle! I absolutely adore these dogs because I feel like they each have their own personalities, and they're so funny and playful. A family is incomplete without a little Cocker Spaniel xxx.

12 Chow Chow The Chow Chow is a dog breed originally from northern China, where it is referred to as Songshi Quan, which means "puffy-lion dog".

Had a beautiful blonde Chow, like the one in the photo. She was incredibly smart and loyal. She's gone now. Died 8 years ago at age 13+. Everyone in her human family misses her still.

My Chow Chow is the cutest puppy I have ever seen, along with his stupidly cute antics.

They are cute little balls of fluff and the nicest dogs ever.

13 German Shepherd The German Shepherd is a breed of medium to large-sized working dog that originated in Germany. The breed's officially recognized name is German Shepherd Dog in the English language. The breed is known as the Alsatian in Britain and Ireland.

They are so adorable and are my favorite dog. If I could have any dog, it would be a German Shepherd because they are loyal, cute, and will protect you no matter what.

We have a mutt - she is half Husky, so I'm voting for both. Did you know dogs can stimulate the same brain areas in a person as a baby does? So cute.

German Shepherd puppies are the cutest with their floppy ears, especially when one is up and the other floppy! Those cute big paws!

14 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small spaniel classed as a toy dog by The Kennel Club and the American Kennel Club.

They are the most adorable thing in the whole wide entire universe, and there will never be anything cuter than my Dribbles! She is my precious bundle of pure joy and cuteness, and I will never let her go, and I will never do anything bad to her! I have seen/heard of people taking advantage of their cuteness and messing with their training and everything horrible! They are just too precious and adorable for any of that!

They are so cute. I received one, and they are so cute. You should get one. Everyone should! They are so cute! Occasionally, people say it's the pug that's cute, yet the King Charles Spaniel is down here. This dog breed is cute and should be ranked higher than 24!

15 Maltese The Maltese is a hypoallergenic, small breed of dog in the Toy Group. It descends from dogs originating in the Central Mediterranean Area.

Maltese are without a doubt one of the cutest breeds. I mean, they're so cute when they're puppies! I don't understand why it isn't in the top ten. Maybe because this breed is so underrated. Give these dogs more love! I have one, and she's a sweetheart!

Out of all these dogs, I'm voting for Maltese and Maltese only! Why? Because I have one!

These dogs are amazing! Okay, they're not the smartest, but come on! They are super sweet and cute. Mine, called Pinky (I know, right?), is the sweetest pup ever! She's a mini-sized one and half Bichon (making her cuter), but she sure looks like a Maltese!

This adorable breed should be #1! Love you, Pinky!

16 English Bulldog

The English Bulldog is my favorite dog breed. The wrinkles, the smooshy face, and my favorite part - the fat roll above their nose! I do think breeders should start focusing more on health and less on looks, though.

My friend has an 85-pound Bulldog named Winston, and he is the cutest thing. He snorts and snores when he's sleeping, and his giant tongue hangs out almost all the time. With two teeth sticking out in an underbite, the English Bulldog takes the cutie-pie cake!

My friend has one of these, and I LOVE THEM. Their faces are so adorable, and it's so sad they live so short.

17 Akita

I have had four Akitas, three girls and one boy. They are very playful and are very gentle if brought up right. They are great with kids and other dogs. One of mine can just be let out the front door and will stay in the front garden, even with the gate open, and when people walk past. They love to run around and play. They will need lots of grooming, though, to get their winter coat out. They are literally just big cuddly teddy bears.

I'll say they are great dogs. One reason for that statement is because of the booming meme population this breed has created. Another reason for my claim is because they are very loyal. I myself have a Golden Retriever, but after watching Hachi when I was younger, I always wanted one. I think the breed is also very glamorous. Very simple but complex at the same time.

18 Border Collie The Border Collie is a working and herding dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep.

Border Collies are the best. No question. Extremely smart and loyal! They are also very beautiful, with flowing coats and very little grooming required.

They always look like they are smiling. I have had three in my life, and they are the perfect family dog, and the perfect dog in general. Probably not if you live in an apartment though, unless you take them for at least two runs a day. I taught one of my Border Collies to stand on his hind legs, and when I shot him with a fake gun, he fell down and rolled over! I just love him to death!

19 Shiba Inu

I love Shibas and think they should be higher. Maybe in the top 25 as a starter. They are so cute and playful! A Papillon is a medium dog, and Leonberger is a type of cheese.

My Shiba is constantly commented on too. They are a beautiful dog compared to some showing up in the top spots.

It's a hard choice between Shibes and pit bulls, but I have to choose Shibes because they act so funny. They're also like huskies, just smaller in size, but the drama-queen aspect is amplified by 10.

20 Boxer The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired breed of dog, developed in Germany. The coat is smooth and tight-fitting; colours are fawn, mahogany, black or brindled, with or without white markings, and white.

Okay, I have two boxers, and they are the sweetest, cutest, most amazing dogs ever. I think boxers are definitely underrated. Why do people think ugly small dogs like Shih Tzus are cuter? Boxers are by far the cutest dogs in the world, and honestly, my two boxers may be the only reason I'm still here. These dogs should be #1.

Boxers are so cute. They belong in the top 10. No, top 5. Yes, that's it. Most people think they are ugly, and I totally agree, but that's just what makes them cute. I have two boxers named Bentley and Lexi, and I don't understand why people think their dogs are cuter. #Boxersareawesome

21 Chihuahua The Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog and is named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Chihuahuas come in a wide variety of sizes, head shapes, colors, and coat lengths... read more

My Chihuahua is a very loyal dog. He has a long coat, tri-color dark brown, copper brown, and white, with fawn at the chest and tri-colored eyes. He has the ability to learn and understand the character of everyone at home. He is very patient and calm, accompanying my family. He loves it when there are a lot of people at home. He has never bitten any item at home before. He will look at you deeply in your eyes without blinking, and with love. He can walk as if he can dance by wagging his long coat tail.

I have a Chihuahua named Chiquita, and I love her so much. I have had her ever since I was a little kid. We always play lots of cool games. She always chases me around the pool until I jump in! They are so cute and make great pets!

22 Alaskan Malamute The Alaskan Malamute is a large breed of domestic dog originally bred for hauling heavy freight because of their strength and endurance, and later a sled dog.

I used to have four Mals. They are so sweet. I couldn't live with myself after they all passed away. They are so fluffy and cute. I voted for German Shepherds because I didn't think they would have these loving dogs on this website. They are fluffy, loyal, and totally cute dogs.

23 Australian Shepherd Despite its name, the Australian Shepherd was actually developed in the United States. Primarily a herding dog, it is characterized by its intelligence and agility. The breed is easily recognizable by its striking coat patterns and eye colors, which can include blue, brown, or even one of each.

My Australian Shepherd is an intelligent, gentle, playful, adorable, and wonderfully loyal pet. I think she has the most unique and pretty eyes (being three-toned), softest fur, and that her breed is definitely cuter than some of the others I saw listed.

They do have beautiful coats and eyes as well. I, for one, think that the Australian Shepherd should be a bit further up in the ranks than some dogs currently are.

They have the most beautiful coats and the cutest puppies.

24 Poodle The poodle is a group of formal dog breeds, the Standard Poodle, Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale recognizes four sizes of one breed: standard, medium, miniature, and toy.

I have a toy poodle, and she is the sweetest thing. She always wants to be picked up. And she's SO smart. Poodles don't deserve to be at #24. They should be at least in the top 10. (I'm not biased)

I love poodles. They should be higher up. I have red toy poodles, and their names are Henry and Cooper. They brighten up my day all the time.

I have a miniature poodle named Farley. He is the best doggo, 15/10. He is fluffy and a good boy.

25 Dalmatian The Dalmatian is a breed of large dog, noted for its unique black or liver spotted coat and mainly used as a carriage dog in its early days.

Dalmatians are really beautiful, very family-friendly. They are known as fire dogs because they can live with firefighters. This dog breed is very special, super loyal, and very helpful, and even adorable as puppies.

So cute, I love all those dots, and they're even cuter with patches. Everyone thinks they only come in black, but they can be brown, ginger, lemon, blue, and grey. I love them all.
