Top Ten Songs with the Best David Gilmour Guitar Solos

The Top Ten
1 Comfortably Numb (The Wall) Comfortably Numb (The Wall) Cover Art

As soon as the last verse ends and the first few notes of the solo start, I surrender myself to the emotional journey that this solo takes you on. It leaves you wanting to listen to it over and over again. Every note has its own place. Beautifully crafted

In Gilmour's world, every journey starts with a single note...

David Gilmour is a true legend.

Time is definitely 2, Comfortably Numb is the best guitar solo ever, and it always will be.

Comfortably numb from pulse or live in gdansk? Take your pick!

2 Time (The Dark Side of the Moon) Time (The Dark Side of the Moon) Cover Art

Comfortably Numb is Best, but Time is the 2nd Best...

Finally... My vote made this jump to the 2nd spot from being the 3rd... Bravo!

3 Dogs (Animals) Dogs (Animals) Cover Art

Dogs! It's long and has time to build and its incredible. Apparently Roger accidentally deleted the recording with the best solo on it, so we aren't even listening to his best!

My favorite part is between the first and second verse. #1 in my book for David, and in my overall Top 10 of all time.

Crazy bends all the way!

4 Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Wish You Were Here) Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Wish You Were Here) Cover Art
5 Money (The Dark Side of the Moon) Money (The Dark Side of the Moon) Cover Art

Very underrated solo, it fits perfectly in with the jazzy tone of the song

6 Echoes (Meddle) Echoes (Meddle) Cover Art

Especially in the Live at Pompeii version.

7 High Hopes (The Division Bell) High Hopes (The Division Bell) Cover Art

Comfortably Numb is the best solo, but this follows in extremely close. I had to vote for this one though because it being at #12 is unacceptable.

The outro is the best guitar solo in the history. 7th?! Are you kidding?

This is his best. Sorry comfortably numb fans.

So tasteful, something worth listening to.

8 Pigs (Three Different Ones) (Animals) Pigs (Three Different Ones) (Animals) Cover Art

Wonderful emotion, especially in the live versions.

This should be 1

11 Hey You (The Wall) Hey You (The Wall) Cover Art
12 Fat Old Sun (Atom Heart Mother) Fat Old Sun (Atom Heart Mother) Cover Art

Simply the best solo from the most soulful, emotional guitarist to ever walk this earth. This is an amazing piece of work that fills your heart and soul with joy. Such a shame that very few people, other than "true" Floyd fans, are even aware of this songs existence.

13 Murder (About Face) Murder (About Face) Cover Art
14 The Thin Ice (The Wall) The Thin Ice (The Wall) Cover Art
15 Mother (The Wall) Mother (The Wall) Cover Art

The version on the album is good in and of itself. But they had to shorten it down to make room for more songs (they did that with a lot of songs on the album). If you look up the full version (Live 1980) on youtube you can see how brilliant the solo is

16 Have a Cigar (Wish You Were Here) Have a Cigar (Wish You Were Here) Cover Art
17 Marooned (The Division Bell) Marooned (The Division Bell) Cover Art

21 On an Island (On an Island) On an Island (On an Island) Cover Art

When David Gilmour hits the first note of the final solo of the song, everything just seems to melt down along with it. It is so beautiful that every time I wanna spread my hands, close my eyes, raise my head and bathe in the music.
