Top Ten Day One Campaign Promises President Trump Failed to Keep

Donald Trump made a lot of promises on his campaign tour from building a Mexico funded wall to imposing a 35% tariff to putting Hillary in prison. He also promised a surprising number of things that his administration would do the day he took office. So many in fact, that it was clear to anyone paying attention that they would not all be fulfilled.

Now that his official first day is behind us, it has become apparent that Trump had zero intention of fulfilling even half of the promises he made to the American people in an effort to win their votes. Below is a list of the top ten promises Donald Trump publically made to the American people that he failed to keep.
The Top Ten
1 Propose a constitutional amendment for Congressional term limits

Among other efforts at ethics reforms that failed to come to fruition in the first day, Trump promised in October 2016 that "under my contract with the American voter we are proposing a series of ethics reforms on day one to end government corruption. They include a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of congress". No such proposal has been announced by the White House as of yet, and given the administration's proclivity for patting its own back, it is unlikely that they are simply keeping it under wraps. Consider Trump in breach of contract with the American voter.

2 Label China as a currency manipulator

Technically, this promise was impossible to keep as it requires a Treasury Secretary and Trump's choice has not yet been confirmed by the Senate. Whether or not Trump is at fault is debatable, whether or not the promise was kept is not.

3 Announce plans to renegotiate NAFTA

Instead of announcing Trump's plans to renegotiate NAFTA, the first statement delivered by the White House Press Secretary was a series of "alternative facts" (also known as lies) about the size of the crowds at the inauguration.

4 Create plus one, minus two requirements for new regulations
5 Pursue a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising campaign dollars

He instead put many of them in charge.

6 Lift restrictions on the production of fossil fuels
7 Lift environmental roadblocks to energy infrastructure projects
8 Prevent the EPA from killing companies and causing job losses
9 Stop jobs from leaving America

Not something that is even in the President's power so it's no surprise this didn't happen. But that didn't stop him from telling a crowd in Sarasota, Florida a mere 5 days before election day that "no country has ever lost jobs like us" and "we are going to stop it day one." He elaborated, "It's so easy. So easy to stop. A Trump administration will stop the jobs from leaving America and we will stop the jobs from leaving Florida. Promise."
