This song is the first one that comes to mind when you think grunge. And grunge is the first thing I think of when I think 90s. I wish I could have lived through this! Bands like nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, smashing pumpkins, Alice in chains, and the Melvins defined 90s music, not to mention they killed an abomination known as hair Metal
Although Nirvana has better songs I really believe that this song defined this decade. This song rocketed Nirvana into the mainstream, as well as making other genres more popular.
The reason Nirvana has topped this chart is because they have invented grunge with the song Smells Like AWESOMENESS FROM NIRVANA!
Without Nirvana grunge wouldn't exist. And this song is the best song of the 90s, hands down.
Where's Welcome To Paradise that song is more classic than this song in my opinion
The song that made me discover Radiohead, made me buy their cd (yes we used to buy cds at the time) and the others after because they're awesome
