Top Ten Most Decade Defining Songs of the 1990s

The Top Ten

1 Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

Although Nirvana has better songs I really believe that this song defined this decade. This song rocketed Nirvana into the mainstream, as well as making other genres more popular. - DarthPhasey

This song is the first one that comes to mind when you think grunge. And grunge is the first thing I think of when I think 90s. I wish I could have lived through this! Bands like nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, smashing pumpkins, Alice in chains, and the Melvins defined 90s music, not to mention they killed an abomination known as hair Metal - ryanrimmel

The reason Nirvana has topped this chart is because they have invented grunge with the song Smells Like AWESOMENESS FROM NIRVANA! - RackumFrackum

Without Nirvana grunge wouldn't exist. And this song is the best song of the 90s, hands down.
