Top Ten Deep Purple Albums of the '70s

The Top Ten
1 Machine Head

My favorite Deep Purple song of the 70s is on this album - Highway Star. This song played an important role in metal creation. It was born on a tour bus when a reporter asked the band how they wrote songs. To demonstrate, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed an acoustic guitar and began playing a riff while singer Ian Gillan improvised lyrics over the top. The song was refined and performed that same night.

2 In Rock

I have never been able to choose between In Rock and Machine Head.

3 Burn
4 Fireball
5 Who Do We Think We Are
6 Made In Japan

Still one of the best live albums of all time.
