Top Ten Best Detroit Lions Players Going Into the 2019 Season

After a predictable last place finish the Lions went from a near 9-7 playoff team to a 6-10 basement team that had no real control of their own players refusing to play with a new coach with a Midwest Patriot way system. 2nd year things better progress fast things could look to dramatically change for the Lions by 2020 if they don't make significant progress. Looking Ahead can these player help prevent some hot names to possible go away after the 2019 season is up?
The Top Ten
1 Darius Slay Darius Demetrius Slay, nicknamed "Big Play Slay", is an American football cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League.

Granted he had a somewhat down year, but that had something to do with the team not in sync which they never were when the season started. I know people say the quarterback is the most important player well I'm gonna disagree and say that this elite cornerback is our most important piece to that defense. Its like if Darius Slay goes out bad things happen, and that's what happened in the few games he did end up missing they got the L's every time.

2 Kenny Golladay

Kenny G is the clear cut top receiver for the Lions. While Marvins Jones is a solid #2 which is more what he has been great in his career. He went from decent, to good in one leap to another. He may not be Calvin Johnson like by any means, but if anything you could be Herman Moore more less, and that's a good note to have a 3rd round pick that has boomed big time.

3 Kerryon Johnson

While many of the past tail backs have been very inefficient, I had question when they chose Kerryon Johnson outta Auburn, but you know what the game he won me over was against the Patriots (who somehow won the super bowl) got 100 yards that breaks an awful long lasting record Reggie Bush kept bragging about. Kerryon does show potential to be like a Billy Sims, or even a Barry Sanders with some elusive moves he has shown.

4 Frank Ragnow

Although he was a Center originally he ended up being the left guard, and did a great job to give the running game its fair share of good carries for Kerryon Johnson, and even Zack Zenner towards the end. I was glad we did not get Billy Price seeing he never gave up a sack at Arkansas this looks like a rocking man for sure.

5 Trey Flowers

The only major upgrade that Lions needed a edge rusher to get to the opposing quarterback that was one thing the defense lacked in. Flowers does provide elite caliber, and that his still a young defensive lineman to plug in, and the connection tie in may hopefully be good seeing they must do well this season.

6 Matt Prater

Now he has had his rare misses over the years, but Prater is a kicker I'm glad we have compared to the problem we could of faced the likes of Tampa Bay with their kicking issue. Since than he has been a very important figure when it comes to ties and or winning field goal attempt normally he comes through.

7 Romeo Okwara

So much for Kerry Hyder, Okwara was the unsung hero of the defensive line last year he quietly racked up 7.5 sacks after being a steal of a acquisition pick up. He fits Patrica's defensive scheme, and hopefully somebody opposite end can be a solid to really provide pressure off the offense.

8 Matthew Stafford John Matthew Stafford is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League. The #1 overall pick in 2009 selected by The Detroit Lions, Stafford has a critical acclaim in his stats. Stafford is the fastest player in NFL history to reach 30,000 passing yards. In 2016, he also broke the record for most comebacks in a season with eight. Stafford maybe one of the better Lions Quarterbacks in recent memory, but his record on the road against winning teams may haunt him with the 5-46 record. He also one of two veteran active quarterbacks to have never won a playoff game the other being Andy Dalton. In 2021, he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams.

Stat padford is heading to a must perform great year after coming off one of his more terrible years as a pro it made you wonder is this the end of Stat padford as a Lion? Well with her wife battling a brain surgery that's probably his only motivation because otherwise this is it for him if he gets like dramatically worse as the number indicated in 2018 its time to get excited for a new era for the Lions.

The more the lions keep him the more I'm going to love when the Vikings play the Lions

9 Damon Harrison

''Snacks'' was traded for a reason to stop the run. While the Lions most likely may not end up dead last in that margin again they might give up a good chunk if caught and tied up with two blockers.

10 Quandre Diggs

With Glover Quin gone their starting safeties combine to the likes of Tavon Wilson, Tracy Walker, and Qaundre Diggs. Of those guys who could take that next level role Diggs has show to have gotten better overtime. While Tavon Wilson can be a solid player Quandre has the ability of a formidable strong safety.
