Top Ten Most Difficult and Dangerous Sports

The Top Ten
1 Horseback Riding Horseback riding (or Equestrian) is one of the most intense sports known to man. Not only because it's physically challenging, but it takes more than athleticism. Horseback riding takes commitment, time, patience, and most importantly building a bond with your horse. If you don't have a good relationship with your horse, you're not going to have a good experience. You need to spend as much time with your horse as you can, riding and on the ground. You need to learn how to work with your horse, not against your horse. It's a team sport, a team of two. ...read more.

You are literally trying to control a 2000 pound beast! They can rear or buck any second! They have a mind of their own! Try bronc riding you football players. You'll break a bone for sure!

I have been riding since I was 5. I am 13. I have experienced all different kinds of riding, horses, and even people. I must say that compared to the other sports I play horse back riding is no joke. I could explain all that I do when I ride, I could tell you how hard it is, and I could tell you how dangerous it is, but I'm not because it does not matter. What matters when you ride is your bond with your horse. What matters is how unbelievably free you feel when riding, how amazing it is to have a bond so strong that you don't need words. It is the most amazing feeling in the world and I feel horrible for the people who will never experience that bond. It is truly unbelievable. You can say it is a sport, or you can say that "you just sit there". I could care less. The only opinion that matters is the one of the people who truly understand why this is so important to people.

Horse back riding IS a sport and we risk our lives every time we hop on the horse. Imagine falling 10 feet off a horse going 20+ mph! That's gotta hurt. Ya helmets help a little but if I horse kicks you in the head you'll be knocked out even if you are wearing a helmet. Animals are not predictable. Other sports are dangerous, but if you've ever been on a horse going 20+ miles an hour on a horse 15 hands tall with you sitting high balancing only with your toes. There have been many fatal horse back riding incidences. So to all you equestrians thank you for knowing that horse back riding is a sport. But to all you haters, maybe you should change your mind.

I started horse riding when I was 8, and IT IS SO HARD. Your arms feel like jelly by the end of the class, and you need a lot of leg strength. Only people who actually ride horses know this struggle. Horseback riding isn't just sitting on a horse and trying to look pretty. There is a specific position that you have to be in, and you need to be able to hold your reins firmly enough so that you don't lose them. You need to keep your heels down so that you don't fall off, and on top of all that, you have to direct the horse in which direction to go. You need to tell the horse that you're in charge. Trust me, riding is not as easy as they make it look in the movies.

2 Football American football is a sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end.

I don't play soccer or football but I do gymnastics. I admit that soccer is hard, but I believe that football and gymnastics. I play football with my brother all the time and just playing it with him and his friends wow. You have to be fast and you get a lot of head injuries. I watch this show Friday night lights and this dude got paralyzed just by a tackle. He can never walk again. Gymnastics I don't know how to explain injuries that happen. Doing double backs off a beam. What if you don't land right and break your ankle. What if you land on your neck? That's what goes through the minds of gymnasts. How would I know? Because it goes through my head every single day. We do have way more practice than soccer players and football players. We practice for four hours every single day. We have to run 2 miles and condition for 2 hours. Tell me that's not hard. Then you have to do regular practice and everything has to be spot on. Yea it's very hard. Soccer players you try something other than running and kicking a ball.

3 Soccer Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a sport played between two teams of eleven players each. It is played with a spherical ball. The objective is to score the ball in the other teams goal.

I am so glad soccer is finally on the top of these lists because it deserves to be. Sure it's not as dangerous as other sports(although it is still extremely dangerous) but it is much more difficult. It is not just kicking and running. Just to receive the ball you have to check your shoulder, receive it with the right kind of technique, communicate to your team, and quickly decide what to do because the other team is racing towards you. That's just receiving the ball. Imagine everything that you would have to do. Vote for soccer.

I play soccer and it's my life, it is dangerous yes, but not as dangerous as some other sports. Mostly dangerous because of how physical some games can be and how fit you need to be. Most injuries are torn ligaments and such. And head injuries due too heading the ball. And when something like a split knee does happen, it's a little bit of a freak accident. The most common injuries are spranged ligaments and some concussions

4 Gymnastics Gymnastics is a sport involving the performance of exercises requiring strength, flexibility, balance and control.

Gymnastics should be WAY before Dance, Cheerleading, Soccer, Football, Horseback Riding, etc. I'm not going to share my reasoning because of course, I gotta hit the gym for 6 1/2 hours. Plus, this website isn't accurate. They just throw sports up here and let people vote. People probably vote twice. Gymnastics is the hardest and most dangerous sport there is. Horseback Riding? I'm literally dying over here. How is that even dangerous? You get thrown off a horse? Okay. Well gymnasts get flung off beam and bars. Even vault. So everybody...Gymnastics is the hardest. Just admit it.

It is the hardest, and the 4th dangerous, It should be the most dangerous and hardest.
For gymnastics you need balance gracefulness concentration strength and so many other things. You could get killed in gymnastics. There are so many ways to get hurt. Soccer and football and others have gear but we have NOTHING! There are many athletes that have had to quit or worse because it's dangerous and because it is too hard. If you want to be an Olympic gymnast you might have to quit school! So don't tell me that this sport isn't hard or dangerous!

Gymnastics is more harder than cheerleading trust me I went with my friend Alisha to her bring a friend to cheerleading day it was boring I didn't even brake a sweat and didn't even have fun it was really boring gymnastics is defiantly more challenging comparing to more sports!

I'm a gymnast and I've gotten 5 concussions, broken arm spine wrist leg & all my toes. laugh out loud. I have also broken both of my collar bones. This should be 1# most dangerous!

5 Lacrosse Lacrosse is a contact team sport played between two teams using a small rubber ball and a long-handled stick called a crosse or lacrosse stick.

Lacrosse is a very dangerous sport we are are getting beat up by sticks with a half inch of foam/plastic to protect us. Also soccer players, you guys frustrate me so much the only thing you guys have is a longer game, in lacrosse we wear a ton of equipment and we run the same length and width of a field. And don't even get starts on rock hard pieces of rubber flying 40-100 mph on the field...

Lacrosse is the most dangerous and hard sport I've ever played (especially compared to Baseball. ) For example in the pros there is a hard rubber ball flying at up to 114 M.P. H (against Mike Sawyer. ) and in my last game I got hit in the neck twice and had to see the trainer at the tournament and I'm only in U11(no body checking. ) That is why Lacrosse is the most dangerous sport.

I'm not even going to start on this one. This is such a violent sport. I have no idea why I put it down here but these come to mind late. Laugh out loud.

Lacrosse is very dangerous, cross checks and body checks and very fast moving projectiles (50-100 mph) makes the sport even harder

6 Dancing

I have been a competitive cheerleader and dancer since I was 1.5 years old. There are 1000+ people staring you down. 4+ judges watching your every move. Mess up? 3 point deduction. No facials? 2 point deduction. My coach screams at us and if you don't do exactly what you are told you get kicked off the team. So, if you say cheerleading and dance isn't a sport? You are dead wrong and you need to get a reality check ASAP

You can't miss a beat. You can get kicked off a team for eating to much desserts!

You can tear your feet, pull muscles, etc.

7 Swimming Swimming is an individual or team sport and activity. Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with events in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

I'm not talking about the regular swimming for fun. I'm talking about the actual sport. You could pull muscles, damage your lungs, etc. You could even drown, if you're not up to it.

During summer vacations, my cousin pushed me in a swimming pool when I didn't know how to swim.

Swimming requires a lot of strength. It is very amazing todo and fun but very dangerous

8 Wrestling Wrestling is a combat sport involving grappling type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds.

I'm 10 and I wrestle for my primary school. I have to practice 5 days a week and practice is just like the real thing. I've had a concussion before but I was nearly put to a stop to my dream sport by tearing my ACL and blowing out my quadriceps when I was prepping for a match.

I'm 16 and I wrestle for my high school. I have to practice 5 days a week and practice is just like the real thing. I've had a concussion before but I was nearly put to a stop to my dream sport by tearing my ACL and blowing out my quadriceps when I was prepping for a match.

I'm only. Eleven years old but I go to the high school practices sometimes if the coach is mad we will wrestle for an hour straight and then go straight in to conditioning and then wrestle for another 3 hours

My brother had 2 concussions and sprained his ankle badly while wrestling.

9 Bull Riding Bull riding is a rodeo sport that involves a rider getting on a bucking bull and attempting to stay mounted while the animal tries to buck off the rider.American bull riding has been called "the most dangerous eight seconds in sports." To receive a score, the rider must stay atop the bull for eight seconds with the use of one hand gripped on a bull rope tied behind the bull's forelegs.

This should be number 1. I don't ride bulls, probably because in the equestrian world it's considered a suicide sport, but I can see just from watching it at rodeos how dangerous it is. I would never have the guts to try it, I'll stick with horses, thanks.

Why is cheerleading above this? Cheerleading can get dangerous but this is a sport where a 200 pound wild beast is intentionally trying to kill you so it's either ride or die.

Should be number 1. Soccer is a stroll in the park compared with bull riding, and both Rugbies are far more dangerous than soccer.

Bull riding is by far the most difficult sport. Just think you're on a 2 thousand pound Animal that is trying to kill you while you're on its back

10 Cheerleading Cheerleading is a sport and performance activity that combines elements of dance, gymnastics, and acrobatics. Originating in the United States, it has evolved significantly over the years, moving beyond the traditional role of leading cheers for sports teams to become a highly competitive activity in its own right. Cheerleading squads perform choreographed routines that include stunts, jumps, and tumbling, often at athletic events or competitions. The sport has gained international popularity, with various championships and organizations promoting skill development and competition.

Really football is in front of cheerleading oh yea cause tackling is so hard and catching and throwing is so hard! I like to play football for fun but cheerleading is WAY more difficult and dangerous then football and hockey and lacrosse and all those sports! Cheer you break something while on a compititon may you duck it up keep cheering and leave your worries behind! Football can't cause that much more injuries than cheer! Cheer causes death, broken bones, fracturing bones and SO much more! Football I understand like breaking your arm (not that often) but cheerleading causes way more difficulty and dangerous tricks then football... You try twisting in the air like doing a back handspring, or full or tucks I would LOVE to see a football player do our job for once see how hard cheerleading is! They would probably break their arm in minutes!

It is difficult and dangerous to do cheerleading. People think that cheerleaders don't have to build up stamina, strength. Cheerleaders have to lift girls 5 ft in the air if not more the bases have the risk of their fly not hitting it and all the flyers weight coming down on them and if the flyer falls you run a mile do push-ups and crunches. Cheerleaders have the risk of getting severe concussions break bones strain muscles and hurt their flyer.

In cheer at any time a person could do something wrong, just one little step or movement and break something.

Lifting people up like that's a lot of work. Perfecting EVERY movement.

The Contenders
11 Hockey

In hockey you are getting push into boards, crosschecked and getting hit with a puck sometimes you get hit where you are not paded. Also you can get onto fights and brake bones, get concussion. Use anyone remember when the one player got his neck cut open from a skate.

You're on skates and on ice. You also get hit by 200 pound players and a rubber puck

12 American Football
13 Rugby

Rugby League and Rugby Union should be way up the list. There have been players who have ended up paraplegics playing these really tough matches. Others have other serious injuries too numerous to mention.

This sport is tough it's like football but no gear how is football above this seriously.

Each week you end up at least one pulled muscle and multiple bruises. my friend snapped his arm and carried on playing because we had no subs (this was in under 13's as well) I know countless people who've had concussion and had to be ambulanced away. bloody noses are just part of the everyday game.

14 Auto Racing
15 Motocross
16 Rock Climbing

One wrong move and you might find yourself falling off a mountain.

17 Formula 1 Formula One is the highest class of single-seater auto racing sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and owned by the Formula One Group. The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the premier forms of racing around the world since its inaugural season in 1950. ...read more.
18 Surfing Surfing is a surface water sport in which the wave rider, referred to as a surfer, rides on the forward or deep face of a moving wave, which is usually carrying the surfer towards the shore.

Okay listen up you cheerleaders, football players, and Dancers because you hate of the top of your mouth and don't even know what you're saying. Surfing is the ultimate danger sport behind Bull and Horse Riding. Firstly, you're "field" is trying to kill you. Waves are very tough and no there are no lifeguards. Secondly, surfing has more dangerous "opponents" than these sports on the list. And no they are not people they are every person's greatest fear. SHARKS. Now that is a opponent. Thirdly, we don't wear padding like you football players. We have just a swim shorts and sometimes slippers. Fourthly, it's SWIM or DIE. The waves can easily hurl you off your board and then whip you underwater. Fifthly, sometimes you get knocked by your own board. I once had my board hit near my private part and that hurts a lot. And most importantly, we need balance and full attention. We have to practice constantly not sit lazily and shake our pom poms. In Summary, surfing is the 2nd most dangerous ...more

Sure there are dangerous sports, but surfing's "playing" field is actively trying to kill you. There is no sport on this list where you get pummeled by the field its self and it can drown you. In all the other sports there are refs and emergency help near by. Surfing, you have your self and maybe the other surfers around you. And the there's sharks, but that subject is covered elsewhere.

Wipeouts on razor sharp coral, drowning, getting knocked out by another surf board or even your own, being held under water by tons of monster waves, oh and then there are those things like... SHARKS! Every year people are killed surfing (from top professionals down to beginner level).

Surfing is far and away the world's #1 extreme sport, and I don't think anyone realizes it. There are a ton of things that make surfing dangerous (read: deadly), but all you REALLY need to have for your trump card, win-any-argument-hands-down, fact, is one word. Sharks. SHARKS, people! Along with everything else that can kill you, not just what's in the water - not to mention the water itself - and beyond all the danger factors that exist beyond that, you've got the world's most perfect killer skulking around under you. Usually in water that you can't see through, which helps speed up the mini-panic attack you're having if you let yourself think about it as you wait for a wave, but that's even a blessing in disguise in a way, because if a shark wants you, and you're dangling off a piece of wood in the middle of the ocean in little else but a bikini, consider yourself lunch - and why make it worse by allowing clear water to make you aware of your ultimate demise? Because there's ...more

19 Figure Skating Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, duos, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport included in the Olympics, in 1908. The four Olympic disciplines are men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance.

Is indeed a difficult sport, it takes 3-4 years for some people to even land a jump, much less rotating 3-4 times in midair. if anything is done wrong it can lead to injury and much less fatality. I've almost hit 10-20 people in the face from doing a certain spin or jump and the toe picks can take out someone else's eye with no problem. the bruises are extreme and we spend 2-9 hours practicing and practicing so we can score a medal in a 2 minute program.

Figure skating is really hard! It requires years of work to get good

20 Parkour

It is difficult. I do not do parkour but I have seen them train and workout. They need a lot of strength and agility. They are risking their lives everyday just for the adrenaline rush of it. This should be higher than surfing. Surfing you have water. Ya you can drown but here you could fall and have a huge drop and die. You end up with broken everything in parkour. You need to do tons of activities to get in shape.

Parkour is way to extreme to be number 19.

Ok you get injured for life in dancing but your dead for life if you make a mistake in parkour

21 Pole Vaulting

Pole vaulting is gymnastics on a moving bar.

22 Muay Thai

Muay Thai is definitely the most dangerous of all sports, cause it has incredibly deadly strikes and dangerous throws and sweeps. you have extremely deadly strikes punches, and bone crushing kicks and you have 2 other strikes unique to Muay Thai the knee, and the elbow

I am a 13year old girl and I do muaythai.I believe muaythai is a very dangerous sport because 1: you can get very bad injuries from the 4 main strike punch, kick, knee and elbow two of which can brake your nose etc and slice the skin. 2: we do very dangerous sweeps and take downs (I have seen a snapped knee in this sport before) and 3: yo. Can get you rips, neck, nose, arm, leg etc... All of them can be broken. So I believe muaythai is definitely a more deadly sport and deserves not to be number 17

It's the most dangerous of all cause of its 8 incredibly deadly strikes it has punches, kicks, and knees and elbows that make Muay Thai a uniquely dangerous martial art

23 Cricket Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a cricket field, at the centre of which is a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch with a wicket, a set of three wooden stumps sited at each end.

Cricket is a useless game where eleven stupids plays and crowd of stupid watch...

24 Skateboarding Skateboarding is an action sport which involves riding and performing tricks using a skateboard. Skateboarding can also be considered a recreational activity, an art form, a job, or a method of transportation.

Skateboarding is not only physically challenging it is mentally challenging and it is very dangerous I play many sports and skatebakeding is defiantly the hardest! I've broken more bones skateboarding as well. Trying to learn things is frustrating and painful! I've played soccer basketball gymnastics and skateboarding is by far the hardest

More difficult than roller skating.

25 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

It is a very dangerous martial art cause it has none crushing locks, deadly chokes, strangle holds, take downs, and throws and will give a much smaller opponent a huge advantage over a much bigger opponent
