Top Ten Direct-To-DVD Disney SequelsDisney sequels do not get the greatest reception, they are often regarded as lazy, cash grabbing, and it ruins the characters we once knew in the original movie. I am here, however, to bring justice to these flicks by counting down the very best of them, although none of them I would even consider giving an 8/10 to.Keep in mind that there are more bad Disney sequels than good ones so it shall be rather difficult to count these down and I might have to include some okay ones
But anyway, let us heed forward with the Top Ten Direct-To-DVD Disney Sequels!
The Top Ten
This movie is rather middle of the road. I thought it was okay and enjoyable enough to catch my attention. The plot is quite forced, it borrows as much from Romeo & Juliet as the first one did from Hamlet. The songs are alright, only some of the characters really matter, with the comic relief characters not playing a real part...the animation is quite good as well, it's acceptable for a Direct to DVD film. It's an okay film, although it's existance is unnecessary. - DapperPickle
Nothing memorable for music here. It’s an okay movie. Lion King 1 is WAAY better
This one is good because it's a sequel that explores what would happen under different circumstances (which people hate). We found that magic goes into the bad characters instead of the good ones which makes it great and I didn't see a movie where something good would've happen to the bad guys. There's also a meme here.
Say what you want about direct-to-dvd sequels. I think that most of them are bad, and you probably do, too. But Cinderella III is an exception.
Sure, Cinderella didn't really need two sequels, but the third movie tries to make up for that by throwing in an interesting plot mechanic. What if Lady Tremaine found the Fairy Godmother's wand and used it to make sure Cinderella wa never chosen? What ensues is a fun (but unnecessary) trip into magical mayhem in which Anastasia and Cinderella must set things right.
This movie may not have been the best idea in the world, but I still enjoyed it. And it's still loads better than those other direct-to-dvd dumpster dives, like Return of Jafar or Mulan II.
7/10 - Synchronocity
Yet another third movie in the series. This is a time travel...Cinderella...movie? It surprisingly works quite well. The characters are a major improvement from both films, with characters from the first 2 being developed even more and given actual personality. There is a lot of focus on the villains, too, which is good because the Stepmother was probably the best part of the original and overall the most interesting character of the cast. This movie is quite a nice watch, and probably the most fun of all the movies on this list. - DapperPickle
Who would have known that the number one pick for me is the third movie in the Aladdin franchise? This is quite a good movie, it has an original plot, the characters are their same likeable selves (Robin Williams comes back as Genie! ). The whole father-plot can be weak sometimes and doesn't make sense but it's still an entertaining flick overall and the animation isn't half bad and impressed me at times. This acted as the finale to the Aladdin T.V. Series, the same as how Return of Jafar acted as an opening. - DapperPickle
So far it's the only Aladdin movie I have seen, and it's probably great-to-amazing - darthvadern
Better than the original - iliekpiez
This movie is on par with the original, which none of the rest of these films are able to accomplish. It's just an overall funny movie, even though the X Games plot is kinda forced it's still entertaining as all hell and a great ride of a movie. - DapperPickle
Both this and the original are pretty underrated - Randomator
This is the point in the list where the movies get iffy. There just isn't enough fully good movies to fill the list. So, Bambi II is just an okay movie. It's honestly just as calm and innocent as the original but that's the problem, not much sets the two movies apart, you could just watch Bambi as get essentially the same experience. Nothing in that special at all, which plops it near the middle of the list. - DapperPickle
This was great - 445956
This movie is pretty good, I thought the scenes of child Tarzan in the original were pretty good and having that stretched into a film works. The characters are enjoyable, the plot was good enough to hold my attention - just an overall good movie. - DapperPickle
It really wasn’t all that bad. - PackFan2005
I don't have much to say about this movie that I haven't said for every other item, it can be good at times, but for the most part it's just a generally okay film - not good, not bad. It'll hold your attention for as long as it's on. - DapperPickle
I watched this one before the actual Lion King, and I actually like it better!
I forgot this movie right after viewing it. It's quite forgettable which is why it's here on the list, it's bad, but not anything more than that. The plot is at least more interesting that the first one and the animation can be quite nice at times. - DapperPickle
Iago sings in this movie.
Is that enough to make you not want to watch this? This movie acts as the pilot to the T.V. series, so I wasn't expecting anything that great - but after watching how good the third movie can be makes me hate this one even more. The first problem is that IAGO is one of the main characters in this film, and that isn't exactly great. Every other character is alright but it doesn't really save the movie since the plot is quite bad too. There is quite a bit to say about this movie, but that's for another day, this movie isn't that great. - DapperPickle
This is a midquel and sequel in the movie and it’s a holiday movie & film & a Disney sequel DTV Sequel in 1997.
