Top Ten Disappointing Follow Up Albums
Ian Gillan explained the situation and pointed out that fatigue and management had a lot to do with it: "We had just come off 18 months of touring, and we'd all had major illnesses at one time or another. Looking back, if they'd have been decent managers, they would have said, 'All right, stop. I want you to all go on three months' holiday. But instead they pushed us to complete the album on time. We should have stopped."
At that point members were not talking to each other and many songs were finished "only after schedules were arranged so they could record parts separately."
This is what happens when you don't let individual band members take a break after exhaustive touring. Everyone was tired and not agreeing on the material, and it shows.
I personally don't think it's that bad.
After a classic like Metallica (The Black Album) they came out with THIS garbage. It was SO BAD I stopped listening.
Dance Of Death, Paschendale, No More Lies... This album is great, I don't understand why people don't like it
Sweetener was ten times better
So BBOOM BBOOM slapped and was dubbed "original" and "a bop"
Then MOMOLAND did the same thing again with BAAM
and that's why Fun to the World sold like 1 copy
It's not out yet, but I'm calling it.
This may be somewhat of an unpopular opinion, but 'Fever' was my personal favourite Bullet For My Valentine album. So many great songs such as 'Your Betrayal', 'Alone', 'Bittersweet Memories' etc.
So what do they do? Follow it up with an album that mostly consists of bad thrash metal.
With Fuel and The Unforgiven II as the stand out singles from their last album before St. Anger, most people thought St. Anger would have some great songs that would be played everywhere, as with every other Metallica album. This definitely wasn't the case, with a brand new bassist hired out of nowhere, no songs where the lead guitarist Kirk stood out with solos, and a snare that sounds like the drummer Lars borrowed Oscar’s trash can to record with. So disappointing, thankfully Metallica followed up this one with 2 actual good albums later on.
I'm very sorry but it wasn't as good as the other albums like Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and some of Minutes to Midnight.
