Best Disney Animated Couples

The Top Ten
1 Rapunzel and Flynn (Eugene) - Tangled

Unlike most Disney couples, Rapunzel and Flynn's relationship was not 'love at first sight'. This is one relationship that developed over time. Their journey began with Rapunzel trusting Flynn to take her see the floating lanterns while Flynn only agreed to that for getting his satchel back. Initially, Flynn was annoyed by Rapunzel but throughout their journeys, they learned about and understood each others' contrasting characters. Flynn helped Rapunzel understand that the fun and adventures of the outside world and also the importance of dreams while Rapunzel helped Flynn become a better man. In the beginning, Flynn was an egoistic criminal who only thought about money and luxuries. However, as a result of his interactions with Rapunzel, he grew into a person who began to care for others.

He gave up the stolen satchel and even when he was sent to prison, he couldn't stop worrying about Rapunzel. The two took turns in helping each other and by the end of the film, were ready to ...more

These two are like my favorite pair in the world! I'm normally not obsessed over romantic stories, but I absolutely loved theirs. Their love wasn't rushed and was based on total trust and respect and self sacrifice. Their chemistry is so amazing and the fact that love is what changed Eugene's heart from bad guy to good one makes me love them even more!

It almost seemed impossible that Disney could create a couple that could have an amazing chemistry ever since Aladdin. But still these two never stop to make my heart melt. They are so perfect!

Rapunzel brings out the good in Eugene and that is what you want to see in a couple. Also the amazing singing voices just make you want them to be a couple.

2 Aladdin and Jasmine - Aladdin

Magic carpet ride...

They are adorable

3 Eric and Ariel - The Little Mermaid

Come on guys! Ariel just left her home, gave up her talent to be part of Eric's world! What could be more romantic than that!

I love their story.

4 Aurora and Phillip - Sleeping Beauty

This ccouple is true beauty and relationship goals. This guy fought a dragon for this girl, whom he didn't even know was a princess!

5 Belle and the Beast (Adam) - Beauty and the Beast

The relationship between Belle and the Beast is frequently called into question. Some argue that Beauty and the Beast romanticizes domestic violence and Stockholm Syndrome. This is a bit of a stretch considering its components are clearly fantasy-driven (talking teacups, a witch's curse, etc).

At first Belle doesn't like Beast because, well, he's a beast and locked up her father. However, Belle's role in the Disney classic is a significant step up over her predecessors. Finally, we have a princess whose goal is to study, grow, and engage in "adventure in the great wild somewhere," rather than just get married. Despite Belle and the Beast's rocky start, Belle displays restraint, skepticism, and eventually acceptance, all of which are endearing qualities. The ballroom scene had a significant influence on their relationship. The background music and scenery truly set the tone, and it's clear that they genuinely love one another. If a girl can fall in love with a beast, then that ...more

These guys are so realistic! No love at first sight, but they get to know each other. They both save each other's lives, and are just plain adorable.

Great couple, but the "take that frozen" comment and others like it aren't necessary

6 Cinderella and Charming - Cinderella

True love at first sight

the 3rd movie really got me rooting for them, it wasn't just "Oh! She's pretty! I'm going to marry her!" It was actually a good romance (at least in my opinion) (also I think the 3rd movie is better than the original)

7 Hercules and Megara - Hercules

Megara and Hercules were a type of couple I always loved: "sarcastic @$***** meets precious cinnamon roll." Initially Meg had intended to deceive Hercules, but she fell in love with him instead.

Many of Hercules' relationships are built on sacrifice, and Hercules and Meg are no exception. Their love has led them to make great sacrifices, like Meg giving her life to save Hercules, and Hercules giving up his immortality to be with her. Few couples are willing to make sacrifices, let alone to this extent. Because these two wouldn't go through such hardship for just anybody, it shows how strong their love is.

Their connection is also ideal because it allows space for healing. Hercules, as Zeus's son dwelling in the human realm, found Meg to be the first person with whom he didn't feel alone. Meg, on the other hand, had been burnt before and was scared of falling in love again. Being with Hercules allowed her to heal from her past. Despite the risk of becoming heartbroken, ...more

They both helped each other heal from their past and made the ultimate sacrifice for each other. Undoubtedly the best duo.

They belong together

8 Fix-It Felix Jr. and Sergeant Calhoun - Wreck-It Ralph

Oh my gosh, this is the most perfect couple in the history of couples. The character development is perfect: Felix, a passive, kind person, immediately falls in love with Calhoun, an aggressive, strict sergeant. Calhoun slowly falling in love with Felix is one of the best character arcs in animated movie history, and it shows.

We need more straight couples in movies were the woman is very masculine and "butch" while the guy is soft-spoken and sweet. Subverting expectations and gender roles yay!

Finally, one that's NOT between a prince and a princess.

Hate that they were reduced to little more than glorified cameos in the sequel

9 Kristoff and Anna - Frozen

Let me just point this out...I REALLY wanted Anna to end up with hans, but of course the script was changed because of a damn song. Kristoff is not bad, he's just a bit, boring. There...have a nice day guys!

I hate this couple. This should be bottom. Chernabog and Maleficent are better.

They make the perfect couple. They even got engaged!

10 Phineas Flynn and Isabella Garcia - Phineas and Ferb

If this were the list of cutest couples, there would be nothing stopping 'Phinabella' from being #1. In every episode Isabella asks Phineas, "Whatcha doin'?" in the sweetest way possible. With that said, this is one romantic pairing which kept us waiting forever. Phineas and Isabella were best friends and neighbors from childhood. While Isabella had a huge crush on her, Phineas was quite oblivious to the situation. Isabella has romantic daydreams about him and does things that makes her affection so obvious but was never brave enough to tell him about her feelings directly. Phineas was too busy with his big ideas and never noticed Isabella's interest in him.

By the time they reached high school, Isabella had started giving up hope of ever being together with Phineas, despite how obvious her crush on him was to everyone (except Phineas himself). It wasn't until after high school, when Baljeet and Buford told him directly, that Phineas became aware of Isabella's crush on him, and ...more

Just seems right

The Contenders
11 Carl and Ellie - Up

The relationship between Carl and Ellie tears your heart out. They got to live a substantial part of their lives together. Fans were treated to an emotional montage sequence that chronicled their relationship from the time they met as kids to how they grew old together. Despite life's regular pitfalls, they share an almost picturesque relationship. We became more attached to this couple than others because we were able to see it all the way through. Their love also remained unwavering during their hardships.

As shown in one of Pixar's more heartbreaking openings, because of Ellie's death, they couldn't do many things they wanted to do together, like having kids or going to Paradise Falls. It showed that while relationships and dreams are hard, they shouldn't be given up on. This unexpected twist serves as the plot for the entire movie as Carl goes on to accomplish their lifetime ambition of visiting Paradise Falls. Despite their struggles, they continued to love each other, ...more

12 Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable - Kim Possible
13 Wall-E and Eve - Wall-E

Who would've thought that two mechanical robots would make the most emotional couple of all time? The pairing of WALL-E and EVE pulls at the emotions in an unprecedented way. After being left alone on a barren planet, WALL-E is overcome with emotion when he sees EVE, a sleek high-tech robot. EVE reciprocates the love WALL-E has, and grows attached to him throughout the movie.
They come to each other's aid multiple times, and the two create one of Pixar's most stirring partnerships. The touching romance between WALL-E and EVE was what jogged EVE's memory after it had lost it. And last but not least, the sparking kiss in space was probably the best scene in all Pixar movies.

14 Tarzan and Jane - Tarzan

They both took bold steps to be with each other.

15 Tiana and Naveen - The Princess and the Frog

Just so cute. Also they were right for each other

16 Kovu and Kiara - The Lion King 2

Kiara first met Kovu as a cub when she disobeyed her father's order and entered the Outlands. Kiara was initially suspicious of Kovu, but she quickly warmed up to him and admires his way of life, which is devoid of dependence on others. They instantly became friends after collaborating to escape a gang of crocodiles, but their parents subsequently separated them due to their hatred for one another. Despite the fact that this was their only meeting, Kiara and Kovu were left with a lasting impression.

When they're reunited years later, Kiara soon recognizes her childhood friend and is more than happy to welcome him into the pride after he saved her from the fire (which was actually part of Outsiders' plan to get close to Simba) Kiara begins to spend more time with Kovu, having him teach her how to hunt and she in return teach him how it feels to simply have fun. Her feelings eventually blossomed into love.

Even after hearing Simba accuse Kovu of leading him to the trap to ...more

Much better than Simba and Nala. I hate that people forget this movie exists. It's definitely one of the better Disney sequels.

17 Snow White and Florian - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Disney's first animated fairytale movie.

18 Star Butterfly and Marco Diaz - Star vs. the Forces of Evil

This is the best Cartoon Couple. Let's elevate it on this list too.

Very cute couple.

19 Dipper and Wendy - Gravity Falls

Throughout the summer, Dipper and Wendy worked together to solve mysteries and have fun while Dipper had a huge crush on Wendy. But they never got to be together.
Now, I know Wendy turned down Dipper. But that was the most beautiful rejection scene I've ever seen. Wendy is without a doubt the coolest character in Gravity Falls. Despite the fact that she was aware of Dipper's feelings for her, she never acknowledged them because she knew the relationship would not work. After Dipper finally confesses, Wendy lets him down in the most gentle way possible but also does her best to comfort him. Instead of telling him, "You are too little", she says, "I'm too old for you".
However, while soothing him, Wendy does not give him false hope and tells him the truth about everything. She also lets him know that its important to her that they can still be friends, and he readily accepts that. But man, even after all that, Dipper sitting alone in the middle of the woods is still heartbreaking.

20 Jack Skellington and Sally - The Nightmare Before Christmas
21 Simba and Nala - The Lion King

They used to think being married to each other was gross but they ended up falling in love anyway.

22 Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps - Zootopia

I seriously hope these two remain as just friends. (unless Nick turns into a rabbit in the end, or Judy into a vixen, which is not gonna happen, sadly) Even if I can accept interspecies fictional couples, we really don't want to see predator-prey romance between a fox and a rabbit because foxes eat rabbits. I feel that Zootopia have pleased the bad side of the Sonic fandom (or in some cases, the Sonic crossover fandom). If Nick and Judy end up getting married and having kids together, then people want to see Cream the Rabbit do the same with Tails or even Fox McCloud from Star Fox, and I hope that never happens... (Cream is neither Tails' or Fox's love interest, to be honest, especially since Fox already has Krystal and that both Cream and Tails are just kids so your filthy fantasies will never come true)

I absolutely loved Nick and Judy. I don't ship them I just want to think of them as friends. That's all.

My sister drew a crapload of pictures of them! She wants them to actually fall in love and get married! BAH!

Love this couple

23 Esmeralda and Phoebus - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
24 Fear and Disgust - Inside Out
25 Mulan and Shang - Mulan

Just love them. Mulan did save Shang's life...
