Top 10 Best Disney Animated Movies Not Made by Pixar

Pixar is cool but let's talk about the animated Disney films that Pixar had nothing to do with!
The Top Ten
1 The Lion King

Nants ingonyama bagithi baba! Before Frozen came out, Lion King was the most talked about Disney film! They even gave it its own parade at Disneyland. In this movie, Simba is born which means he is the next in line to be king. However, Scar wants to be king so he decides to kill Mufasa (played by James Earl Jones) and Simba. He successfully kills his brother but wasn't able to kill Simba because he made the mistake of having his Hyenas go after him instead of just killing him himself when he had the chance. I really like 3 of the songs in this movie. Circle of Life, Be Prepared, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight. I am 92% sure that Simba and Nala are siblings considering Mufasa and Scar are the only other male lions in Pride Rock. What other characters am I forgetting? Oh yeah! Timon and Pumbaa! They're funny. That's all I have to say about that. I really love this movie and it's definitely worth watching!

People who hate Lion King hate it because everyone calls it the #1 Disney film ever made, which they believe is an exaggeration. Same goes with Frozen. This kind of thing is highly debatable.

Now I like TLK but I do have reasons for it. Look at my profile for evidence in posts section. It is my personal opinion on the movie itself. I wanted it to be good that good but for me it failed that expectation.

For the people that hate this movie, you seriously don't have a complete/ good life. This the literal best movie I've ever seen. It's so beautiful I cry.

2 Wreck-It Ralph

For all you gamers out there, this is Wreck-it Ralph! I love this movie since I'm a huge fan of arcade games. In this movie, we've got Pac-Man, Q-Bert, Pong, Street Fighter, Tapper, Sonic, and others. Mario and Luigi do not make an appearance because of Nintendo being protective of their property. This movie revolves around Ralph tired of being treated as a villain. Yeah! Why do the nicelanders act like jerks toward Ralph if he's only playing a villain in a video game? Ralph decides to game jump and goes to Hero's Duty and Sugar Rush which is basically a candyfied version of Mario Kart. Then we come across the most annoying character to ever be put in Disney. Vanellope! I still like her, though. Even if she is annoying. I love how Ralph is willing to help Vanellope win a race even though he is only doing it to get his medal back. We later see that he actually cares for her and that he really is a nice guy. So yeah. Even though he's a bad guy, this doesn't mean he's a bad ...more

I'm really hoping Wreck-It Ralph gets a sequel! I love video games, so this is the perfect Disney movie for someone like me!

I love this movie... Don't get me wrong but Disney has SO much more movies that are better than this

I absolutely loved this one, however, I was very disappointed in its sequel.

3 Fantasia

Fantasia is known as one of Walt Disney's most creative films. The idea is to take great pieces of music and draw animated sequences that fit perfectly with them. It works perfectly well! The animation is beautiful! I absolutely love the choices of music that are used for each segment! I like to consider this movie a masterpiece! Each segment in this film are amazing, especially Night on Bald Mountain! Chernabog is my favorite Disney villain and the music that plays during this segment really emphasizes how dark it is. Each segment basically tells a story with no dialogue and just music. So much creativity in this film! So stunning! I watched for the first time a few months ago. I should've watched it years ago! This is truly a FANTASTIC film!

Chernabog is a perfect Disney Villain. This movie means so much to me. This deserves to be Number 1.

The Firebird Suite was one of the most sensational short films I saw as a Child.

Finally fantasia come back to got some recognition

4 Aladdin

This movie is very great. This is the first Disney movie in which the princess is NOT the main character. Aladdin pretends to be a prince in order to win the heart of Princess Jasmine, with the help of the Genie (played by Robin Williams). The Genie is definitely my favorite character. Robin Williams did an outstanding performance! Most of his dialogue was unscripted. I also really like Jafar and his assistant bird, Iago. Jafar is the villain but I didn't really see him as a threat until the climax. Now let's talk about Jasmine. She is hot! Not as hot as Mulan but still very hot! I'd like to take her on a magic carpet ride.

I love Aladdin. Genie is hilarious. I HATE Jafar so much. His stupid song and his stupid laugh annoy me.

5 Zootopia

My favorite by Disney (excluding Pixar) it tackles gender and racial differences and discrimination due to these differences and it is still appropriate for children. Disney has gradually been taking steps in their animated/children's movies to make them also easily appeal to adults while still being for children like Pixar has done in each of their movies (excluding the Cars franchise). The animation and character were beautifully created with a very clever plot. The movie does so many things to show how truly messed up society REALLY is and it also shows how untrustworthy the government in any country (including the USA) can be. It also takes common stereotypes and shoots them down. It is truly a masterpiece and a bold step for Disney in their moviemaking.

The most recent movie on this list is Zootopia. When I saw the first trailer for this movie, I thought I was going to hate it. I was surprised by how good it was! So far this is the best Disney movie of 2016. Finding Dory was good but not as good as this. I don't know if Moana can beat this but we'll see. This movie has a really good message. Never give up on your dreams. This movie is also about racism. The villain (won't say who it is) uses a serum to make every predator in Zootopia go savage. That is very savage! Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps make such a great team! The best part of the movie in my opinion is the DMV scene with the sloths. Although, it's kind of inaccurate. DMVs are nowhere near as fast as the one in this movie! I laughed at practically every joke in this movie. This was a very fun one to watch. I also really like that Shakira song.

Hands down zootopia. You know, the older I get the less I like the lion king? As in, I don't even watch it anymore. I just feel...meh nowadays. But Zootopia is actually incredibly good and by far Disney's best work to date (even beating out my other favorite Princess and the frog)

It has a lot of good messages such as "don't give up" and "try to understand everyone"

6 Beauty and the Beast

Be our guest! Beauty and the Beast is beloved by many Disney fans. The songs are great, the characters are great, this movie is absolutely amazing! A prince gets cursed at the age of 11 (supposedly) and he becomes a beast. Belle is the one to break the curse. The residents of the castle are Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and Chip. By the way, was Chip born a tea cup? He looks like he's 10 or 9 and they were cursed for 10 years. My main problem with the movie is the villain, Gaston. His motivations are horrible! He captures Belle's father, keeps him hostage, threatens to lock him up, and tries to kill the beast all just so he can marry Belle. But this didn't ruin the movie for me. It's still a fantastic movie and I am excited for the live action movie coming out in 2017!

Beauty and the beast is always a super good disney animated film I litterally like their songs actually I don't like them I love them! sm! it always takes everyday to watch this movie

7 Big Hero 6

Are we ever getting a sequel to this movie? The main character of this movie is Hiro Hamada and after his brother dies, he forms a superhero team. He even makes friends with a robot named Baymax. When going to see this movie, I was not expecting to care so much for a robot with no facial expressions. But he became my favorite character. This movie has a lot of action as it is based off of a Marvel comic. It even has an after credits scene with a Stan Lee cameo. The saddest part of this movie was when Baymax sacrificed himself to save Hiro. The original Baymax is still in the portal and we will be seeing him again in Kingdom Hearts III.

This movie has been drilled into my head...every bloody camp I go to they play it, I kind of hate it now.

This is my favorite Disney movie! It's good for all ages! It needs a sequel! SCREW FROZEN

Fantastic film that is way better than Wreck it Ralph

8 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

How could I not include this movie!? This is the first ever Disney animated movie! Disney would be nothing without this movie! It is the one that started it all! We all know the story. Snow White meets some dwarfs, takes care of them, and then she later gets poisoned by an apple. It's a good thing she was saved by a true love's kiss. Also, apparently Snow White has the ability to communicate with animals through song. She is a very interesting character. I also really like the dwarfs. Grumpy is my favorite out of the bunch because, well, I tend to get grumpy a lot. I also want to point out that Snow White is currently the youngest Disney princess, at least until Moana comes out. Moana is actually the same age as Snow White. Speaking of which, I am very excited for Moana this November!

Now don't get all hateful on me for my OWN opinion, but Snow White is not a good film. Sure it's the first animated movie and sure it's a classic and sure it changed moviemaking forever but honestly I'm surprised this film has held up over the years. It is very predictable, it's very stereotypical towards women, which is another factor that shocks me about how popular it is.

The first ever Disney movie.
The first thing that didn't have Mickey Mouse and his friends.

Actually Snow White and Moana aren't the youngest Disney princesses they're 19 and Merida is 16 umm proof

9 The Little Mermaid

The Little mermaid makes my kids, Jamie, Jane, Ola, Lily, Rachel, Cliona, Megan, Saoirse, Ciara, Katie, Shana, Lia, Liam, Donagh, Samuel and Freddie question their gender. THE'RE ALL 4. DON'T WATCH IT!

10 The Hunchback of Notre Dame

This is the most underrated Disney film of all time! This movie is about a bell ringer named Quasimodo who wants to go out and explore life. He meets a gypsy named Esmeralda who he falls in love with but, no surprise, they don't end up with each other at the end. The villain Frollo wants Esmeralda to be his or else she will end up in hell, which leads to the best villain song of all time! Frollo is definitely an intimidating villain and one of my favorites. The only thing I hate about this movie is the gargoyles. They are so annoying and unfunny. It's also unclear if they can actually come alive or if Quasi is just imagining it. The climax is definitely the best part! There are moments in this film that make me question if it's even a kids film. But that's what makes it awesome!

The Contenders
11 Tangled

I'm gonna be honest here. I like this just as much as I like Frozen. Anyway, we can all agree that Tangled has a better story. Princess Rapunzel gets kidnapped by a woman who uses the power from Rapunzel's hair to stay young forever. Rapunzel meets Flynn Rider who takes her to see the floating lanterns. I really like the story in this movie but I don't necessarily think the songs are that memorable. I See the Light is really the only song people remember from this movie, or at least care about. I find the characters to be very likeable. Especially Rapunzel. Rapunzel is tough, brave, and gorgeous!

A great movie with great characters and great songs and a great plot and a great lizard thing and a great princess and a great prince and a great world and a great animation and a great story and other great things

Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies. In the first part of this movie, I couldn't control my laughter.
Mr. Alan Menken had given life to this movie by his hilarious music- really we should admit.
I like all the songs in this movie especially, the end credits song "Something that I want" which is one of the best songs ever made.
Tangled is a movie which is a mixture of comedy, adventure, tragedy etc.
Really this is one of the best movie Disney!

The end credits song is the best! Tangled, well, is absolutely a Legendary movie!

20 Moana Moana is the protagonist of Disney's 2016 animated feature film of the same name. Born on the island village of Motunui, Moana is the daughter of Chief Tui and Sina, with an inherited love for the seas and voyaging. When her island becomes endangered, Moana is chosen by the ocean to journey across the sea to save both her people and the world.
