Top 10 Best Disney Animated Sequels

For my 100th list, we will be talking about the best Disney animated sequels! And yes, there are good Disney sequels out there.
The Top Ten
1 Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 is a wonderful and emotional film! The first two films were very good! So I was really excited to see a third Toy Story film, and it definitely exceeded my expectations! We are introduced to some new characters and they are all pretty great! The animation has improved by a lot and this movie has a much darker tone! There's a scene where the toys are in an incinerator! That's pretty dark! The ending is also probably the saddest moment in Pixar history! I didn't cry though. I totally didn't. This is very relatable since Andy is grown up and he has to give up his toys. Most of us have had this same experience. When he's giving up his toys at the end, he's basically saying goodbye to his childhood. This is done very well! A perfect ending to an amazing franchise! But Pixar just had to announce that they're making a Toy Story 4!

Toy Story 3 deserves an 8/10 (sorry, I've seen YMS's video/points on Toy Story 3).
Toy Story 2 deserves a 10/10.
Finding Dory deserves an 8/10 (it's not just a rehash of Finding Nemo, which is among my favorite Disney movies for its severe warmth, depth, originality and etc).
The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride deserves a 7/10.
I give Cinderella III: A Twist in Time a 9/10 (it has time-travel and portraying evil, spoiled girl stereotypes to actually be kind-spirited).
I give The Rescuers Down Under a 10/10 (go see ElectricDragon505 for proof).
I give The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata a 6/10.
I give The Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning a 7/10.
I give Aladdin & the King of Thieves a 10/10 (to the point where it is my favorite movie with such dull, cheap, eye-hurting animation).
I give Monsters' University a 7/10 (the only Pixar movie that is worse/weaker than Monsters' University is a Cars movie, which is the original Cars even though I nonetheless like all Pixar ...more

Toy Story 3 is not just the best Disney sequel ever. It's one of the greatest sequels in movie history. All the characters are the same lovable characters that we all grew up with, the story is great and very well-told, and the film has a very dark tone to it, especially for a Pixar movie. That scene in the Incinerator is one of the most epic scenes in animation history. I seriously believed that the toys were actually going to die when I saw it for the first time. Now that I'll be off to college next year, that heartwarming ending will be even more tear-jerking than it already is. I truly love this movie and I really hope that Toy Story 4 turns out alright in the end.

P.S. Congratulations on your 100th list MegaSoulhero and happy holidays!

One of the best animated movies ever

2 Toy Story 2

This is Pixar's first sequel and their third movie! And it's really good! It actually managed to be better than the first one! Woody gets stolen by a toy shop owner named Al so it's up to the other toys to save him. Woody even meets Jessie, Bullseye, and Pete. This movie is very entertaining throughout! The humor is great and the characters are great! It's also pretty emotional. Jessie's backstory is very sad! They even have a sad song to emphasize it. I also really like the climax at the airport! Overall, this movie is very great!

Fun fact: This was actually supposed to be a direct-to-video sequel until Pixar decided to put it in theatres at the last minute. And I'm so glad they did.

3 The Lion King II: Simba's Pride

Basically, everything Lion King related is good! Except for Lion Guard! Lion King 2 is a very great sequel to a very great movie! This movie seems to be based on Romeo and Juliet whereas the original Lion King was based on Hamlet. Simba and Nala have a daughter named Kiara who meets another lion named Kovu who, unfortunately, is part of a rival pride. I really like Kiara! She is really cool! The villain in this film is really cool too and I would even say that she is almost as cool as Scar! This movie also has some really good songs! My favorite is He Lives in You which is also in the Broadway musical! I love that musical so much! This movie isn't as good as the original Lion King but it is still a worthy sequel!

Maybe it's just nostalgia, but it was my favorite movie as a kid. Today, I find the storyline pretty predictable, with some clichés, but still great animation style, faithful to the original, and all that with great quality compared to other sequels, even if this is straight-to-video.
I consider this to be the top of this list, since Toy Story 2 and 3 and Finding Dory com from Pixar Animation Studios and were made for theatrical release.

The Lion King 1 1/2 must be placed greater than this. The Lion King 2 is so boring!

4 Finding Dory

Is this movie a cash grab? Yes. But it's a GOOD cash grab! There was a time when I thought that Finding Dory was going to suck. And a lot of people hated me for it. But I saw the movie and I really liked it! And people still hated me for it! I hate when people do that kind of thing! This was the first Pixar sequel since Toy Story 3 that was actually good! Monsters University was pretty bad, and Cars 2 wasn't that great either. In fact, it wasn't even good. In fact, it was unwatchably horrible! Finding Dory is a very hilarious and entertaining movie! The new characters in this film are really great! I especially like Hank! He is a pretty cool octopus! So yeah, I really like this movie despite me saying it was going to be bad!

I flat out love this movie. I came into Finding Dory with big expectations and it didn't let me down. Dory went from being a comic relief in the first movie to an outstanding, relatable three-dimensional character. The new characters are all great with Hank and his lovably curmudgeon attitude being my favorite. It's also really great to see classic characters like Marlin, Nemo, Crush, etc. after all these years. While I love Finding Dory, many people have started to turn against this movie. While I disagree with them on that point, I do respect their opinions and can understand where they're coming from. You can't please everybody, I guess.

5 The Lion King 1 1/2

I was thinking to myself that giving Timon and Pumbaa their own movie is a stupid idea! But I actually found this movie to be pretty funny! It takes place during the events of the original Lion King but from Timon and Pumbaa's perspective. I watched this all the time as a kid! We see how Timon and Pumbaa became friends and we even get to see Timon's family! Obviously his family hates him but it's still great to see them! Timon and Pumbaa's friendship in this movie is a lot stronger since we see it developing as the film goes along. And it's great to see what happened while they were taking care of Simba. We even got to see him as a teenager! Also, there's 20 Hidden Mickeys in this film! It's fun to find them all!

6 Cinderella III: A Twist in Time

This was VERY surprising! Not just the fact that they made a third Cinderella movie, but also that it was actually good! The second one was pretty terrible but I actually enjoyed this one! Unlike the second one, this actually has a plot! This one isn't about Cinderella but more about her stepsister, Anastasia. She uses the fairy magic wand, that the fairy godmother threw out of her hand for some reason, to go back in time to when Cinderella tried on the glass slipper. She enlarges the slipper so that it would fit her and she could be with the prince. This movie doesn't feel like a direct to dvd Disney sequel. It has some very serious and emotional moments! That song that Cinderella sings when she thinks that her dance with Prince Charming was a dream was pretty sad. And I just like how Anastasia redeems herself at the end. It shows that she isn't so bad after all! She is actually pretty likeable! With the exception of the cringe-worthy song at the beginning, this is a very good movie!

7 The Rescuers Down Under

I'm surprised I like this movie despite the fact that I didn't care for the first one! I mean, wow! The original and the sequel are practically two different movies! You know what I mean. The animation is brilliant! I think this is the first Disney movie to use CGI backgrounds! This movie also has more of a serious tone than the first one. I did not think that a sequel to the Rescuers would be so good! This is definitely an underrated movie!

8 The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I LOVE Ariel in this movie! I've ranted numerous times about how Ariel is a horrible character, but here, she is actually very likeable! She wanted her father to let music be allowed in the kingdom after he banned it due to the death of his wife. Ariel is not being selfish, she is not being a jerk, she just wants to bring back music so the kingdom will be happy! She is actually caring for others! I also like how Ariel's sisters are included in the story more. They were barely in the first two movies! It's really great seeing Ariel and her sisters interacting more! I'm surprised people hate this movie! I do have a few criticisms though. I don't really like the villain. She is very forgettable! I don't even remember her name! Also, Flounder is very annoying in this film! But this is still a pretty good movie! It's not as good as the original Little Mermaid but I'm glad they turned one of the worst Disney characters into a very awesome character! And ...more

9 Aladdin and the King of Thieves

Return of Jafar was a pretty bad sequel to be honest. But King of Thieves is actually pretty good! For starters, we have all of the original cast back! Including Robin Williams! The reason he wasn't in Return of Jafar was he got into some argument with Disney. But I'm glad he came back for this one! I felt like the relationship between Aladdin and his father was pretty well done! The animation is pretty bad but I still managed to find enjoyment out of this sequel!

I remember watching this movie a while back and sort of liking it. Can't beat the original, though. Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic) is reviewing all of the Disney Direct-to-Video sequels in Disneycember this year. I highly recommend to check it out along with the rest of his videos.

I've never heard of this

10 Monsters University

One of the best Animated sequels ever.

The Contenders
11 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure

The original was better.

I love this ones

12 Cars 3

Much better than Cars 2

13 The Return of Jafar
14 Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch

Lilo and Stitch is a good movie! Overrated, but still good! Stitch Has a Glitch isn't as good as the first movie, but I still kind of like it! The voice acting is spot on and the relationship between Lilo and Stitch is very good! This movie isn't perfect however! Why doesn't Jumba just tell the others about Stitch's glitch? Because plot! Also [SPOILERS] when Stitch dies at the end, that part is very emotional! I really liked how professional this scene was! We actually feel Lilo's pain of losing her best friend! Too bad they have him come back to life with literally no explanation! This movie has problems, but it's pretty enjoyable!

15 Bambi II

How is this one not higher?

16 Ralph Breaks the Internet

This is the only disney sequel I liked better than the original.

This movie is a dumpster fire and not in a good way.

My favourite movie!

Ugh, this is trash!
