Top Ten Disney Attractions That Could've Been Made Better

Disney parks have some attractions that were planned to be great, but were poorly executed. Here's some attractions that could've been made better.
The Top Ten
1 Emotional Whirlwind (Disney California Adventure Park)

It could've been a dark ride and part of it would've been an indoor wild mouse-style roller coaster at only 11 mph max speed (much slower than Goofy's Sky School which goes 27 mph max), all surrounded by immersive Inside Out imagery & theming, & there could've been more storytelling & even effort put into the ideas & making the attraction, yet it could've been named Wild Emotions. But instead it's just a simple swinger like Silly Symphony Swings with Inside Out imagery that's better off called Mood Swings, or Silly Symphony Jr. Yet it's the same attraction that once existed at the now defunct Bug's Land, showing us how cheap they've become rather than having the generosity & effort to build a completely new attraction by scratch.

2 Slinky Dog Dash (Disney's Hollywood Studios)

It could've been well immersive and had more setup into it, & it could've been longer & be more durable & stable. But instead, Disney didn't have the budget to, though this was from Intamin in Wollerau, Switzerland, & it's short & not very durable as far as coasters go. Plus remember it nearly fell apart 6 months after its opening & it once had its tails removed due to rattling unnecessarily & parts were easily chewed off by kids. All showing us Disney didn't execute the attraction well & it's been showing wear & tear rather quickly & compared to Rocket Rods at Disneyland (which wasn't a roller coaster but still a defective attraction) for quality, plus all this indicates how cheap Disney's become. Yet another terrible part is the queue. It's shadeless, leaving guests vulnerable to sun damage, dehydration & heat exhaustion (yet when it opened the wait time was 7+ hours long in such conditions, though there's water fountains but Disney's water is awful due to sulfur & bromine, both leading to health problems), further proving Disney disregards the true safety & health of guests besides the heart, back, neck problem, motion sickness & pregnancy warnings.

3 Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom) Space Mountain is the name of a space-themed indoor roller coaster attraction located at five of the Magic Kingdom-style Disney Parks.

They could've made it a cool awesome roller coaster (yet the one in Disneyland Paris is a true coaster), but it's just a double wild mouse that uses darkness, space effects & fans to create the illusion of high speed, all of which is a trick created by Disney & the thrills are more psychological rather than physical. And while the ride warns guests that it's thrilling, it's more themed than physically thrilling. Plus the worst part is that it's rough & Disney could've made it smoother, but they don't have the budget to do so & it's popular & expensive (more than the rest of Magic Kingdom itself), & they chose not to improve it. Furthermore they only downgraded it by removing the moving walkway, changing the lighting in the post-show area & removing the green screens & making the exit look like the Marriott hallways.

4 Astro Orbiter (Magic Kingdom)

They could've made it more immersive, such as making it a flying theater (like Soarin' & the Flight of Passage) but instead made it a glorified Dumbo ride. Plus waits are fairly long & many would rather wait long for a quality ride rather than a rushed pile like this. Yet the rocket seats are very small, making this ride overall bad for people with claustrophobia.

5 Na'vi River Journey (Disney's Animal Kingdom)

They could've made the ride longer & more detailed, but it's short & simple. Plus they could've made the queue shaded but instead made it shadeless & many guests have passed out from dehydration & heat exhaustion. At times the waits were so long & guests were doomed before riding.

6 Autopia (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Disney Paris)

They could've made it speedy as in the cars could've gone at least 40 mph on a long track with drivers in full control with no constant accidents. But instead they made the cars only go 7 mph & on a guided track, where guests bump constantly & get whiplash injuries (though Disney thankfully put warning signs up) & the track is not very large, but rather small. The ride is very short & they could've made it more scenic & adventurous, but instead it's garbage. Plus they could be in use with electric cars, but they're too cheap & instead relying on gas-powered cars, polluting what should be a clean park free of any dirt/toxins.

7 Pirates of the Caribbean (Magic Kingdom) Pirates of the Caribbean is a dark ride attraction located in various Disney parks, including Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. The ride takes visitors on a boat journey through various scenes that depict a pirate-infested Caribbean island. Originally conceived by Walt Disney... read more

They could've made it at least as good as the original at Disneyland Park or even like the one in Shanghai. But instead it's a simple & boring ride & you only get 1 little drop & almost no splash & it's just boring lazy drunk pirates sitting in their chairs & hardly even a battle. The Shanghai one put a whole lot of effort into storytelling & immersion, but this one is a disaster & Disney's too unwillingly cheap to make it better. I know people say Pirates of the Caribbean's a classic, but this attraction is just too boring & I don't get why people praise this one when Disneyland's & Shanghai's are the masterpieces.

8 The Magic Carpets of Aladdin (Magic Kingdom)

They could've made it a flying theater attraction like Soarin' & used magic carpet shaped seats to immerse guests to think they're really flying over Agrabah. But instead they made it another simple spinner like Dumbo & put no originality into it besides the theme.

9 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)

They could've made the whole attraction longer & put more storytelling into it & even a better layout, but instead they made it short & boring. Plus they could've made it more thrilling & even added a part where there's a drop in the dark with the evil queen laughing & then screaming to her death. Yet they could've added a forest scene in it. I know Disney had to close the Snow White Scary Adventures because it was scary though much more so when first made. This was a potential of being a great ride themed to Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, but they failed miserably. It's just a few hills, then the mine with the Seven Dwarfs, then a drop & hills again, you see the the 7D dancing inside the cottage & the evil queen staring at you, then done. It's NOT worth the long wait no matter how much you're tempting to ride this failed attraction, no offense to any of you guys.

10 The Princess & The Frog Ride (Disneyland)

Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Which has her sending *you* into the Avery Island Salt Dome (the closest the NOLA area has to any kind of "mountain", let's just ignore that many slaves died there) to get salt for that dumb restaurant she spent the entirety of her movie fretting over. And which they've already turned French Market at Disneyland and are going to turn Pecos Bill's at Disney World into. Wow, I wish I could ride that right this very second... NOT!

They could've made it not splash mountain.

The Contenders
11 Conservation Station (Disney's Animal Kingdom)

They could've made it more fun, but instead it's more about the lines. You wait to get on the bus, then they kick you off & then you have to wait to get into the park. It's not a fun experience for people & they want to enjoy an immersive & more educational experience as soon as possible.

12 Stitch's Great Escape (Walt Disney World Resort)
13 Peter Pan's Flight (Magic Kingdom)

It's known to be a classic attraction and nostalgic, but it would've been better made if the music were a variety of elements like the other versions, where part of it's quiet & other parts, like near the end, are epic. The whole soundtrack on this ride is basically a snoozefest that'll put anyone (even a little kid) to sleep. Plus they need to hide the exit signs, which ruin the immersion as guests are supposed to feel like they're really flying over London at night with Peter Pan & Tinker Bell. Anyway it's a fine ride that could've been better & could use major improvements, though it's still very popular & frequently has long lines as not very many people can be loaded at once.

14 The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Disney's Hollywood Studios) The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, also known as Tower of Terror, is an accelerated drop tower dark ride located at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Tokyo DisneySea, Walt Disney Studios Park, and formerly located at Disney California Adventure Park. Except for the Tokyo DisneySea version, the attractions... read more
