Top 10 Disney Movies That Get Far Too Much Hate for Being UnderratedI made a spinoff of the list Top 10 Things That Get Far Too Much Hate for Being Overrated, this time focusing on Disney movies that people hate because they're overrated. Similarly, there are also some Disney movies that some people hate because they're underrated. This list is focusing on them.
The Top Ten
Easily the most underrated Disney movie ever, if not the most underrated of all movies ever. As much as it doesn't sound like it makes sense that people would hate a movie just because it's underrated, this is the best example of such a film. Far too many times the critics slam it just because it's in the shadow of Babe, which came out the same year. They forget that the two films have different story lines that are equally effective.
I'm not saying this isn't an underrated movie, but they didn't dislike it because it was in the shadow of Babe, they disliked it because they thought it was unoriginal. Some critics just disliked it all together. - RalphBob
Pixar's first princess movie is easily their most underrated movie ever, even more underrated than A Bug's Life. What's ironic is that their most recent movie as of this writing (The Good Dinosaur) doesn't seem to be as hated yet this film is a heck of a lot better (I'll be honest, The Good Dinosaur was pretty underwhelming).
Let's be honest here. The sequel Cars 2 was not as good. But the first film is still a solid effort that ranks as one of their better films. People seem to forget this because of Cars 2.
Easily one of Pixar's best films. It even was nominated for 2006's best animated feature, but lost to Happy Feet (are you kidding me? ). Great plot, great characters, and an awesome scene in the credits collaborating John Ratzenburger's voices. Just because Cars 2 was not as good, doesn't mean you hate this one. This one deserves praise too.
I hate this movie! I can't believe it was made by Disney.
It's hated for being Disney's first GCI animated film not made by Pixar. What's sad is I recently watched The Lego Movie and didn't think it was as impressive as Chicken Little. Yet that film was more popular for some reason.V 1 Comment
It had the unfortunate fate of being released less than 6 months before Home on the Range, yet Brother Bear is a far better film. It is easily the best of Disney's early 2000s releases besides Lilo & Stitch. What's really ironic is the whole point of the film is to teach people NOT to needlessly hate things.
I liked this movie as a kid. Didn't like those annoying moose, though. - GamerBoy
Undoubtedly one of Disney's darkest films to date, but still not as dark as The Black Cauldron. However, it still gets its fair share of hate for this very reason. Yet it is a powerful, meaningful, and majestic Disney movie made in the same fashion as The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. It never deserved to be nominated for a Razzie.
People call this film "dated" just because of its 80s setting and style, as well as for having Huey Lewis and Billy Joel sing the first two songs (which, coincidentally, are the two best songs in the movie). However, there is much more to this film than its 80s setting. It has a heartwarming story and excellent songs. And this was also Disney's first true musical since The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in 1977. In fact, it was actually this film that led to The Little Mermaid one year later. Therefore, THIS is the true start of the Disney Renaissance.
It lives in the shadow of The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out, yet it's actually a much better movie than The Good Dinosaur. It's like Beauty and the Beast in that it shows how people can change despite how they were raised. Also, "If Only" is one of the most beautiful Disney songs yet, and the most beautiful since Let It Go from Frozen.
Disney's first hand drawn animated film since Home on the Range gets snubbed by more popular CGI animated films like The Lego Movie and Rise of the Guardians. Yet I enjoyed it much better than The Lego Movie (haven't seen Rise of the Guardians yet).
The Princess and the Frog was snubbed by the Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel, not by The Lego Movie or Rise of the Guardians. (The Lego Movie wasn't even made when The Princess and the Frog was in theaters) - GamerBoy
Until Zootopia came out, this was my favorite Disney movie. I really miss 2d and it is sad that this wasn't more popular to revitalize the 2d industry. The villain song was the best one ever, the moral was good, and the animation was great. This movie needs more love.
Easily my favorite Disney movie EVER. The only reason I didn't include it in my original remix is because it's not as hated as the others I put on here. However, the fact that it's hated AT ALL is just SHAMEFUL. This is The Godfather of all Disney movies.
Much like Chicken Little, it's hated for being one of Disney's first CGI animated films made without Pixar. Yet it's actually on par with many of Pixar's films.
It's forgotten, and while it is a tiny bit dark, it's a great movie nonethelessV 1 Comment
Another fantastic Pixar movie. People need to learn to judge each movie on it's own merits instead of comparing them to othes. Cars 2 is a great movie, and a great Pixar movie. DEAL WITH IT!
I know it's popular, but some people on TheTopTens hate it
