Top 10 Disney Movies Involving Water

This is kind of a weird idea for a list. But I was just on vacation in Hawaii so it inspired me to make this list.
The Top Ten
1 Moana

This is probably the most memorable Disney movie to involve water. That's because water actually plays an essential role in the film to the point where it's actually a character. The ocean chose Moana to restore the heart of Te Fiti. And throughout the movie, the ocean helps Moana and Maui with a bunch of stuff on their journey to restore the heart. But if the ocean is alive, why couldn't it just return the heart itself? Speaking of the heart, apparently the reason why Moana's granny died so suddenly was because the heart is what was keeping her alive. She knew that if she gave the heart to Moana, she would die. She sacrificed herself so that Moana just save not just the island, but the world. Kind of makes it a little more emotional. But back on the topic of the ocean, it's honestly my favorite thing about the movie. The ocean is very helpful. And it leads to some pretty funny moments. I also love the animation of it. So amazing!

2 Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl

Pirates of the Caribbean has the best soundtrack in any franchise ever! I know that's completely off topic with the list, but I felt like sharing. Since this is a movie about pirates, of course it involves water. They really went all out. The scene in which the characters are sailing across the ocean look great! That's something that the movies in this franchise do best! Visual imagery! Despite the stories not being very good, they still manage to make the movies look nice. The water in the movies are very real, but sometimes they would have to use CGI and it would still look real! There was one scene in Dead Men Tell No Tales in which they had to CG the water so that it could do something that wouldn't be possible in real life, but it was still very convincing! Some of the scenes in the movies have them actually really sailing the ships on water, and other times it's green screen. Even though a lot of people hate this franchise, it's still entertaining to look at.

The music, the characters, the atmosphere, the casting, the fight scenes and intense moments! Too bad Dead Men Tell No Tales took that all away!

3 Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo is one of Pixar's best films. And one thing that I absolutely love about it is the underwater world! It's very hard to animate water using CG. But they did it very well here! It looks incredible! Even the fish look amazing! There is so much detail! It makes me want to live in a world like that! The adventure that Marlin and Dory go on really shows how much there is in the ocean! Although, there are quite a few inaccuracies. Whales aren't supposed to have uvulas. Drains do not lead to the ocean. I wonder how many kids killed a bunch of fish believing that. Also, clownfish are hermaphrodites. And when the dominant female in a group dies, the dominant male would change gender. So Marlin should've become a female fish. But despite these inaccuracies, it still looks amazing!

I found Nemo. He's third place

4 The Little Mermaid

This is the first Disney movie to take place underwater. I think. And that's what makes it so good. The underwater environment looks incredible! They put in a lot of detail in the animation to make it look like this is a real underwater place! There are a bunch of differently designed fish! And the mermaids look great as well! That still doesn't excuse the fact that Ariel is a terrible character! The whole underwater environment makes her even more unlikeable because why would she want to leave a place like that!? It's beautiful! She had a perfectly amazing life but she gave it all up for a guy she just met! Ariel is one of the worst characters in movie history!

One of my favorite Disney classics ever.

5 Lilo & Stitch

I just went on a Hawaiian vacation. So of course I have to include this movie on the list. This is the movie that actually made me want to go to Hawaii. It looks so incredible! And when I went, I wasn't disappointed. I love Hawaiian music. It sounds so relaxing. This movie did a perfect job at showing us what it's like in Hawaii. Of course there are no aliens in Hawaii. Obviously. I did not get to go surfing, however. Because I can't surf. But I still had fun. I even got my picture taken with some hot hula girls. Lilo & Stitch isn't one of my favorite Disney movies, but still an enjoyable one.

6 Atlantis: The Lost Empire

I watched this movie randomly one day and that was years ago. It was pretty forgettable. Probably one of the most forgettable Disney movies of all time! I've always been fascinated with the city of Atlantis. Something I'll give this movie credit for is that it has a lot of great scenery. That's what makes this movie stand out for me. I just wish that the story wasn't so bland and that the characters weren't so bland. I barely remember much from this movie. I'll probably have to watch it again. I know people like it, but it's not really that exciting for me.

This movie is awesome and nowhere near as forgettable as people make it out to be, especially given its colorful and thoroughly entertaining cast of characters.

7 Ponyo

I know this is technically Studio Ghibli, but it was released by Walt Disney Pictures in the U.S. Ponyo is an adorable film. It's about a female fish who meets a human guy. So she wants to become human so she could be with him. But her father forbids her from doing so. But she becomes human anyway and tries to adapt to the human world. This causes chaos to happen but everything gets resolved and she gets to stay human, the father approves, and she gets to be with her human friend. Wait. Isn't this the plot of the Little Mermaid? Whatever. It's still a great film. And this is coming from someone who hates anime. Seriously! Anime sucks! But Studio Ghibli actually KNOWS how to make anime. Their films are so amazing! Except for Howl's Moving Castle and Tales From Earthsea. There's one scene in Ponyo that really stands out. It's when Ponyo becomes human and is traveling on top of the water. That just look so fantastic! Definitely a great film!

8 Peter Pan

Ah yes. Peter Pan. A fantastic film and a Disney classic. Even though water doesn't play an essential part in the movie, it's still in there quite a lot. Like when the Jolly Roger is sailing and when we see the crocodile. There's still water involved. It's been a while since I watched Peter Pan, but I find it to be an enjoyable film. It's not one of my favorites, but I still really like it.

9 Finding Dory

This movie came out 13 years after Finding Nemo. So the animation improved over time. The water looks better than it did before! Almost looks photo realistic! Even the things that are shown underwater look even better! There are moments when the fish are out of the water and you can see that they are wet. That takes a lot of time and detail to make it look convincing. The water animation looks absolutely beautiful! I really like this movie.

10 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
The Contenders
11 Frozen

Snow technically is water, so this counts. And there is a lot of it! And it is awesome! A lot of people hate this movie, but I still enjoy it. The whole premise of the movie is that Elsa freezes Arendelle and she must unfreeze it. And what happens when snow and ice melt? Water! This movie got a lot of attention when it came out. And it got so much attention to the point where it people started hating it. It even got it's own short film that played before the live action Cinderella movie. This November, Frozen is getting the Cars 2 treatment by making Olaf the main character in another Frozen short film. And in 2019, Frozen is getting a sequel. Because the movie made billions of dollars. We don't necessarily need a Frozen sequel, but I'm still gonna see it. Frozen is a much better movie than Moana. I'm seriously thinking about making a list of reasons why Frozen is better than Moana.

Technically there is no water in this movie
