Top 10 Worst Disney Animated Sequels
Disney has had a bad reputation with sequels. So let's talk about the worst Disney animated sequels!I remember watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It was a great movie, so they should have just left it alone. But, they decided to make The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. I watched this and it was awful! Why did they have to ruin one of the best Disney movies out there? Apparently, Quasimodo gets a girlfriend named Madellaine, who, unfortunately, works for the villain. Speaking of which, the villain is very boring. All he wants to do is steal a bell! Yeah, not a good villainous plot whatsoever. Also, what's with the animation? It was good in the original, but here, it's god-awful. I love Hunchback of Notre Dame, but the sequel sucks.
That scene with Belle and her derp eyes really scares me! I would talk about the plot, but this movie barely has a plot! Just like Cinderella 2, the movie is made up of different segments! They are all terrible! The animation is the worst I've seen in a Disney film! I watched this movie expecting it to be so bad it's good! But it's not! It's just bad! I hope the Beauty and the Beast remake will be good!
I find it VERY hard to believe that people actually like this movie! Why would ANYONE think it's a good idea to make Mater the main character? Sure he was kind of funny in the first movie, but no one wanted him to get his own movie! Mater is the Jar Jar Binks of this movie and John Lasseter is the George Lucas of Pixar! This seems more like fan fiction than a movie! A movie about cars who are spies? Seriously? I can't believe one of the best animation studios made something so unwatchably terrible! This movie straight up sucks! Cars 2 is definitely Pixar's worst movie! And they're making another sequel for some reason! Well at least it's taking more of a dark turn and it will be about Lightning McQueen. So hopefully it's better.
I watched Mulan II. It was okay, but there were some things that were off.
Mulan and Shang get engaged. However, this results in Mushu losing his job as a royal guardian and has to go back to gong-duty. So, what does he do?
At first, he decides to "kiss his pedestal goodbye" since Mulan's happiness is more important. But then he decides to break them up instead. How selfish!
There are these three princesses who have to go through an arranged marriage to form an alliance between China and another kingdom. However, they fall in love with Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po instead. Also, Mulan is out of character in this movie and is happy about this even though if the arranged marriage doesn't happen, China is doomed. In the first movie, Mulan didn't care about love. She cared about family and honor.
Anyways, I don't blame her for getting mad at Mushu after he FINALLY had the guts to tell her about him getting between her and Shang. He crossed the line.
After Shang's presumed death, Mulan decides to marry one of the princes instead. Later on, we find out that Shang is NOT dead after all. Woohoo!
You know that arranged marriage that I was talking about? It NEVER happened! So, China might have gotten destroyed
As much sad I hated the first Pocahontas movie, it had a pretty good ending. So they should've just left it alone. But they decided to make Journey to a New World! Pocahontas goes to England after hearing about John Smith's supposed death. We later find out he isn't dead! So predictable! She also meets John Rolfe! I know they actually did hook up in reality but I still don't really like them as a couple! There are songs in this movie but I don't remember any of them! Radcliffe also returns and his design is just awful! What's up with his mouth? This movie is worse than the original! And that's saying something since in the first movie, they had Pocahontas learn English from THE WIND!
This sequel was VERY unnecessary! The first movie was good but did people really want a sequel? They should call this movie Dreams DON'T Come True! This movie involves three stories and each one of them involve Cinderella planning an event. I didn't like any of them! The animation isn't that great, the stories are badly written, and it's a huge step backward from the original movie! At least the third one was better than this!
I remember watching this. It's about Cinderella planning an event in all three. One of them involved Anastasia (her stepsister) falling in-love with a baker. Unfortunately, her mother does not approve, due to his social status. NO FAIR! It's actually a good thing that Cinderella stepped-in and helped her.
As a sequel to one of the greatest animated films of all time, this movie is very disappointing. As a movie on its own, it's just really unimpressive. Even when not comparing to the first movie, the idea of taking care of an arcade game is underwhelming, and that doesn't even come until halfway through the movie. The main characters sound very disinterested even by kid standards, the villains feel like a heavily watered down version of the first movie, the story and description sometimes mismatch with what's going on screen, and the songs range from passable to terrible. There are traces of what made the original movie so fantastic, but they are very few and very far between.
Ugh this is just terrible. The original is so much better. Like if people knew more about this it would be in the top 10.
Ugh, thanks to whoever put this movie in. Did not do the original film justice in any way.
This annoying tigger movie needs to be pushed up to the top ten!
I predict that Schaffrillas will give this movie a 3/10 on Letterboxd.
There was this one scene where Morgana (Ursula's sister) threatened to kill Melody. So, Ariel and Eric had no choice, but to keep Melody away from the ocean. So, what do they do? Well, there was this other scene where they take Donald Trump's advice and build a big wall around the castle to separate it from the sea! Does that sound familiar? And how did Melody get to the ocean when the wall is around the castle?! I did not see any holes or doorways! She's 10 years old and she's a human! Humans cannot really fly or jump very high, you know.
Speaking of Morgana, she was never brought up in the first film, which is stupid! Morgana is way too similar to Ursula! She even has the same voice actor who played as Ursula in the first movie!
The Newcomers
Worst Pixar movie ever! This came out the same year as the adventures of Elmo in Grouchland! Which is way better!
Screw this movie and Toy Story 2!
I had mixed feelings about this movie.
It's great that they wanted to make a movie about Kronk. But here's what I don't get. Why did they make Yzma a furry? Obviously, we can see her large cat tail. And using slime to make a fake youth potion? That's so gross! Those senior citizens could have gotten sick from it or even died.
Apparently, Kronk is a big liar. Why? Because he comes up with this ridiculous plan of getting that "thumbs-up from Papi." And also, Kuzco hardly got ANY screen-time! He was an awesome character, so why leave him out?
Anyways, this sequel is not the best, but not the worst either.
A Beauty and the Beast Christmas movie sounds like it would be a great idea! But what we got was an absolute failure! This movie is absolutely horrendous! The plot is that Belle wants to bring Christmas to the castle but Beast forbids it. The reason why he forbids it is because Christmas was the day he was cursed. And in that flashback they showed us, he was an absolute jerk as a human! No wonder he was cursed! He basically has NO reason to hate Christmas! Beast is absolutely unlikeable in this film! I know he was mean in the original, but here he is just cruel! He locked up Belle even though she was doing something nice for him! We are also introduced to a pipe organ named Forte. He is the villain of the film and he is very dull! In fact, most of the characters in this film are dull! I'm also not a fan of the songs! There is a lot of wasted potential in this movie!
I liked this. Loads of the sequels on here I've never even heard of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mulan had sequels? Never heard of Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World, Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World, The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea - with the first why didn't they just stick to the book, Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure, The Fox and the Hound 2, Atlantis: Milo's Return, The Lion King 1½, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, The Jungle Book 2, The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning
I hated finding nemo is was a very boring and basic movie, the lack of coloring was underwhelming as well. Finding Dory was a redeeming movie.
Not the worst but not as good as I expected it to be. To hell with this movie anyways. Incredibles 2 is where it's at now biatch
This really sucked, who would want a rehash of the original?
The fact that they even made a sequel to the first Planes movie is really surprising! But the fact that they released it less than a year after the first one is even more surprising! But to be honest, the sequel is actually not as bad as the original! It's still pretty bad though! Dusty gets his engine damaged and the parts can't be replaced. Then he joins a fire and rescue team. The storyline is uninteresting, the characters are forgettable, but it's still an improvement over the first one. I think they're original plan was to make Planes a trilogy but I'm pretty sure they're not making a third one.
The movie is kinda well hard to explain.
But the Hook one (when he got defeated but the crocodile part is better) in the battle scene is very hilarious.
It's my first Peter Pan film before the second was the first original.
Whoever put this comment below must be on drugs. Instead of exploring what's next after "happily ever after," it explores what would've happen under different circumstances. At least we know what would happen if someone else fits the slipper and it's original.
Saying this was better than "Cinderella II" isn't really saying much at all. Nor is saying it's "one of the better direct to video" sequels.
I don't like this movie because the stepmother rewinded time and at the end the prince and Cinderella are in love again and the fairy godmother never changes it back...But the prince never remembers danceing with cinderella
Blatantly rips off both "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "The Fifth Element". Also, Anna has zero business becoming queen.
I'm not a hater of "Frozen" in general, but this movie was bad and unnecessary.
I hated the first one; this one is even worse.
Schaffrillas will give this movie either a 2/10 or a 3/10 once he reviews this movie on Letterboxd.
I have never heard of it but Ariel's Beginning? Is it more of a prequel?
I didn't even like the first one, I don't know why disney made a tarzan 2 in the first place
Lady and the Tramp was such a cute movie about two dogs falling in love! It was very popular so it made sense that they wanted to make a sequel! But by making a sequel, they decided to completely rehash the first movie! Yeah, this is basically the first Lady and the Tramp movie, but instead it's about their son named Scamp. Whom I hate! Honestly, they could've chosen ANY of their other kids but they went with Scamp! I don't even know why they even decided to still call it Lady and the Tramp! They're both hardly in it! I would personally stick with the original.
"What should we do for another Toy Story Sequel?"
"I know, let's completely change Bo Peep's personality because we're woke now, and ruin the beautiful ending of the previous film because we've suddenly become obsessed with making sequels just to separate our favourite characters and ruin their dynamics!" (See Wreck it Ralph 2, Frozen 2, etc.)
We just want our favourite characters to stay together, why is that too much to ask?
I don't have one good thing to say about this movie, it was so bad. I am a big fan of the first movie but not this one.
If it weren't for this one, none of the other sequels on this list would have ever existed.
Watched this once. First off, it's great that the people in The Man Village let Mowgli in, I mean, he is mostly human anyway. However, Baloo wants to take him back into the jungle. Bagheera was smart enough not to let it happen. But, Baloo did not listen at all and does anything he can to take Mowgli away from the village. He sneaks into the village at night and actually succeeds! Dragging Mowgli into the jungle with him, Shanti decides to go after him.
Turns out that Shere Khan has returned (Who is now voiced by Tony Jay). Kaa did appear for a brief period of time, but that was it. I can understand that Baloo misses Mowgli, but he should at least take a hint that the Man Village is Mowgli's real home now and that the jungle is too dangerous, especially with Shere Khan still out there searching for him.
