Top Ten Worst Years for Disney

The Top Ten
1 2005 2005 was a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2005th year of the Common Era and Anno Domini designations. It was the 6th year of the 2000s decade.

This was the year in which they gave us both Chicken Little and Valiant, two of the worst animated films to have ever come out of Disney! But at least their live action movies from this year were still pretty good, especially Sky High and the first Narnia movie.

2 1966

Had it not been for smoking, Walt could have lived up to 1997 (when Hercules came out) instead of dying in 1966 shortly after proposing EPCOT.

The year Walt himself died.

It took two decades for Disney to find itself again after Walt's untimely death

3 2022 2022 (MMXXII) was a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2022nd year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 22nd year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 3rd year of the 2020s decade.

The year they announced more unnecessary park changes and the remake of "The Little Mermaid" that no one is allowed to criticize at all.

4 2012 2012 (MMXII) was a leap year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2012th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 12th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 3rd year of the 2010s decade.
5 1946

Because it was the year in which they made both Make Mine Music and Song of the South, two of the most ungodly boring and forgettable movies they've ever made.

6 1988

That was the year I was born right before the rise of the Disney's renaissance.

7 2011 2011 (MMXI) was a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2011th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations.

Cars 2 and Mars Needs Moms stood absolutely no chance against Arthur Christmas, Rango, The Adventures of Tintin, or Kung Fu Panda 2 in terms of quality.

At least that Muppets movie that came out that year was really good, though.

A great year for DreamWorks but a terrible year for Disney.

8 2020 2020 (MMXX) was a leap year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 20th year of the third millennium, the 20th year of the 21st century, and the 1st year of the 2020s. It was heavily defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to global social and economic disruption, mass cancellations and postponements of events, schools and many workplaces being closed for months, online school and work meetings, worldwide lockdowns and the largest economic recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

When they started doubling down their efforts to make everyone forget "Song of the South" and started acting like Tiana was their one and only black character.

9 2018 2018 (MMXVIII) was a common year starting on Monday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2018th year of the Common Era (CE), the 9th year of the 2010s decade, the 18th year of the 21st century, and the 18th year of the 3rd millennium.

Not only were Solo, Incredibles 2, Christopher Robin, and Ralph Breaks the Internet a letdown, A Wrinkle in Time and that Nutcracker movie that came out that year were both absolute disasters of cinema!

Their animated sequels from this year were beyond painfully average, but at least most of the Marvel movies they made that year were really good.

Serves them right for not being able to make a movie that was even half as good as Spider-Verse.

10 2013 2013 (MMXIII) was a common year starting on Tuesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2013th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 13th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 4th year of the 2010s decade.

Not only was Planes a steaming pile of crap, so was The Lone Ranger, one of the most racially insensitive movies Disney has made in recent years!

Planes is the absolute worst thing to have ever happened to Disney in its entire 100 year history as a company, as it is the most unwatchably cringe-inducing animated film I've ever seen in my life aside from Foodfight and The Emoji Movie!

The Contenders
11 2006 2006 was a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2006th year based on the Common Era/Anno Domini designations. It is the 6th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 7th year of the 2000s decade.

The only really good things Disney made during that year were the ride Expedition Everest and the film Eight Below. And I guess the first Cars movie and the second Pirates film were sort of kind of decent as well.

The Wild and The Fox and the Hound 2 were two of the worst things to have ever happened to Disney.

12 2019 2019 (MMXIX) was a common year starting on Tuesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2019th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 19th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 10th and last year of the 2010s decade.

The year the most successful yet most unnecessary movie they ever made was released.

Same thing as 2018, but with the added bonus of some of their worst live action remakes!

AKA the year the worst Star Wars movie was released.

13 1987

Another thing of note that Disney gave us during that year that I forgot to mention: DUCKTALES!

Actually, another thing of note that Disney did that year was Star Tours at Disneyland.

The Brave Little Toaster was the only thing of note they did that year.

14 1941

Sure, Dumbo was a pretty good movie, but one cannot overlook the animators' strike that occurred during that year.

15 1996
16 1984

Disney gave us absolutely nothing during that year, apart from the Morocco pavilion which is easily the most beautiful and underrated pavilion in all of Epcot.

But seriously, if Disney doesn't reopen Restaurant Marrakesh at Epcot's Morocco pavilion anytime soon, we will RIOT!

17 1994
18 2007 2007 (MMVII) was a common year starting on Monday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2007th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 7th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 8th year of the 2000s decade.
19 2010 2010 was a common year starting on Friday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2010th year based on Anno Domini/Common Era designations. It is the 10th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 1st year of the 2010s decade.
20 2008 2008 was a leap year starting on Tuesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2008th year based on the Common Era/Anno Domini designations. It is the 8th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 9th year of the 2000s decade.
21 2014 2014 (MMXIV) was a common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2014th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 14th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 5th year of the 2010s decade.
22 2003 2003 (MMIII) was a common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2003rd year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 3rd year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 4th year of the 2000s decade.
23 2002 2002 (MMII) was a common year starting on Tuesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2002nd year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 2nd year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 3rd year of the 2000s decade.
24 2016 2016 (MMXVI) was a leap year starting on Friday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2016th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 16th year of the 3rd millennium, the 16th year of the 21st century, and the 7th year of the 2010s decade.
25 2009 2009 was a common year starting on Thursday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2009th year of the Common Era and Anno Domini designations. It was the 10th and final year of the 2000s decade.

The year "The Princesses and the Frog", which due to getting crushed by "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" was the death knell for 2D animation, was released.
