Top 10 Drummer Showdowns
Portnoy is my favourite drummer of all time! And when he left Dream Theater, they chose an excellent replacement with Mangini. This would be interesting!
I'd love to see that. Great drummers. I personally think Mike Mangini wins by a tiny bit.
Portnoy is the best Prog Metal Composer ever
Definitely Neil Peart.
@IronSabbathPriest - I'm afraid I don't understand something: What does it mean Bohnam is 'able to hit the right notes at the right time'?
You think Neil Peart doesn't hit the right notes at the right time? Bad timing?
In terms of technical skill, Peart wins. In terms of being able to hit the right notes at the right time, Bonham wins. Both drummers are awesome!
Can play bonham with relative ease. Very groove based and repetitive.. Peart is much harder for me to copy
Two talented drummers in two of the most successful british bands of all time. I'd love to see this.
The godfather of the double bass drum VS one of the main songwriters in Metallica? This should be interesting.
Two of the drummers in Megadeth. Nick Menza was awesome, and I wish Shawn Drover and Chris Broderick didn't have to leave the band.
Nick hangs down
Both drummers are instantly recognisable, and were both in the first heavy metal band, our very own Black Sabbath!
I wanna see some really crazy metal drumming and the guys who play like that:
George Kollias: Nile - The Essential Salts
Francesco Paoli: Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Violation
Love individual thought patterns.. He is the first drummer I heard using his feet like hands.. Switching between triplet and 32nd notes midstream
King Crimson make the list yet again! And Pink Floyd simply NEED to be on any rock band list. Both drummers are quite underrated in the bands they are/were in.
I don't know who would win this. Dave Grouhl says that Motorhead are the coolest band ever. Which they are. But Dave's performing in Nirvana and QOTSA is exceptional.
Maybe you wanted to say Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor and not Phil Campbell, who is a guitarist in Motorhead.
And Phil Taylor wins. Dave Grohl is quite overrated, to be honest.
Although I have no respect for Avenged Sevenfold, I have respect for The Rev. And I won't say I'm glad that he died. Jordison is still better though.
Run out of ideas again. Both great drummers.
