Top Ten Best Drummers for New Drummers to Look Up To

I used to be a drummer myself during band in elementary school, but kinda lost the interest of actually playing. However, here are some drummers I recommend you check out.

1 Neil Peart Neil Ellwood Peart, (September 12, 1952 - January 7, 2020) was a Canadian musician and writer best known as the drummer and primary lyricist of the rock band Rush. Peart received numerous awards for his musical performances, including an induction into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1983, making him the youngest person ever so honoured. His drumming was renowned for its technical proficiency, and his live performances for their exacting nature and stamina.

Neil Peart is probably the best progressive rock drummer out there, and his lyrics he writes in Rush are some of the best you may hear in all of prog rock music.

3 Bill Ward William Thomas "Bill" Ward is an English musician and visual artist, best known as the original drummer for the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath.

Bill Ward's drumming style seemed to be different than other bands, and he's one of my favorite drummers.

4 Ringo Starr Richard Starkey known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the Beatles.

He's good to look up to if you're a starter. I wouldn't go straight into technical stuff like Peart or Portnoy right away.

I guess since he was from the Beatles.

5 Mike Portnoy Michael Portnoy is an American drummer primarily known as the former drummer, backing vocalist, and a co-founder of the progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater. Known for his technical skill as a drummer, Portnoy has won 30 awards from the Modern Drummer magazine.
