1 Neil Peart Neil Ellwood Peart, (September 12, 1952 - January 7, 2020) was a Canadian musician and writer best known as the drummer and primary lyricist of the rock band Rush. Peart received numerous awards for his musical performances, including an induction into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1983, making him the youngest person ever so honoured. His drumming was renowned for its technical proficiency, and his live performances for their exacting nature and stamina.

He deserves it! He is great. 40+ years of rock drumming innovation and inspiration. How could such a fabulous of a drummer not be in first place?! I mean he is Neil Peart!

There's much more talented drummers who aren't well known.

Ask anyone and they will agree... This guy is a drum legend.

I don't understand why he's #2 right now.

This is the man - #1 for me. Currently in Dream Theater (he played for Annihilator before, among many other projects).

Ringo is the smartest drummer for sure.
He knew that his job was to keep perfect time for the Lennon/McCartney [and later Harrison] compositions, which are the greatest pop/rock songs ever written, and among the greatest music of any kind in history.
So called "star drummers" like Moon, Bonham, or Baker would have made it about themselves, and not that phenomenal music.
