Greatest Drummers of All Time

The Contenders: Page 8

141 Don Brewer

Just saw Don play with Bob Seger in Pittsburgh. At 63, he is a better drummer now than he was 40 years ago. No frills, just straight ahead, power drumming, without the theatrics of being part of the "New" GFR.

American Band is the holy grail of rock tunes... and Brewer is right there as the locomotive... Super solid, always driving the band... He is one of rock's greatest drummers...

Plays one of the top 5 drum solos of all time. He should be in the top 10 easily not only for his stick skills but vocal ability also.

143 Reni

It's insane that Reni is so far down the list. Any other drummer would need four arms to approach his genius.

Bonkers that someone as naturally gifted as this isn't at least top 50. Should be #1.

Great drummer of great band city fan too

Best naturally talented drummer since Keith Moon

144 Eric Carr Eric Carr Paul Charles Caravello better known by his stage name Eric Carr, was an American musician who was the drummer for the rock band Kiss from 1980 to 1991. Caravello was selected as the new Kiss drummer after Peter Criss left, when he chose the stage name "Eric Carr" and took up the "Fox" persona.

What, Eric Carr is one of the greatest drummers I have ever seen. Saw him live in 84, and have also seen Neil Peart live too, and I gotta tell ya, Eric Carr impressed me much more. Neil Peart is just boring quite frankly, he uses all this equipment to make a range of different sound sure, but nothing beats Eric Carr's heavy rock n roll drumming. Simple but powerful. R.I.P my friend

How Can the fox is not in the list. He is one of the best drummer in the world. RIP... Eric Carr!

Eric is my all times favorite drummer and I think KISS would have been a lot better with him at the drumset today.R.I.P. eric Carr, The Fox of the drums!

145 Spencer Smith

He is in one of the BEST bands ever, and I feel like he is underrated because he's supposedly not as hot as Brendon Urie or Ryan Ross. That's not cool because when it comes to the music, the band would be nothing without him. What is a song without the beat of the drums? Their first album"A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" would be nothing without the drums. Spencer Smith deserves more recognition than he gets, and I'm going to let him have it.

146 Kai

He is So cool he has such a unique drumming style

Kai from the Gazette is the best drummer I've ever seen! just check him out.

147 Jimmy Chamberlin Jimmy Chamberlin James Joseph "Jimmy" Chamberlin is an American drummer and record producer. He is best known as the drummer for the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins.

He should be in the top 10. the pumpkins are my favorite bands if the listen to gish and all of mellon collie and infinite sadness or Siamese dreams. Oceania was a descent album it was still missing something... then you would all understand why he should be in the top 10

Had to throw him up on the list. Any Smashing Pumpkins fans out there? I'm not a huge fan by any means, but always thought this guy made the band. Next time you listen to the Pumpkins, pay attention to the drums and you will bump this guy. - Kidkoffee

Yeah pumpkins! After jimmy cleaned himself up, he only got better, becoming the amazing drummer he is today.

Top 20 if not top 10 for Damn sure!

She is the best

149 Elvin Jones Elvin Jones Elvin Ray Jones was an American jazz drummer of the post-bop era. He showed an interest in drums at a young age, watching the circus bands march by his family's home in Pontiac, Michigan.

The idea that he could keep up with the intellectual energy is amazing. The fact that he put a beat, rhythm and tempo to it is profound. Check him out on any of the classic quartet's pieces. - AKPickin

Sick Sad Little World, all I gotta say.

152 Tommy Aldridge Tommy Aldridge

101? Are you kidding! Who came up with this list Ringo Starr? Tommy goes all the way back to Black Oak Arkansaw! He is a master of the double bass, along with spinning his sticks, when Tommy Lee was in Diapers! He should be in the top 10!

Pat Travers, Ozzy Osborne this guy can destroy a set of drums

Move him up! He's a hell of a drummer!

153 Liberty DeVito

Liberty was a musical drummer's musical drummer... the parts he came up with for all those Billy Joel hits were beyond perfect, and helped Joel achieve all his success... Nothing else to say here!

He was to Billy Joel what The Green Hornet was to Kato. And the fact he used to play for Mitch Ryder, well BJ would be a lot poorer without Liberty. Go, LDV!

154 Terry Williams

Just watch dire straits alchemy live and you will see why he deserves to be near the top

Seeing him at 205 is a crime against nature. An injustice against mankind.

155 Simon Phillips

Simon Phillips is just an amazing drummer, who should easily be in no less than the top 20 players of all time. He is extremely versatile, and precise... I've seen him several times backing up some of the best artists and bands in the business... definitely a force to be reckoned with.

From playing with The Who to Pete Townshend, Simon deserves an A+ rep, particularly since he also became the first UK Totoite, having joined up with the said Toto...the late great Jeff Porcaro torch is passed on to Simon

He's great... he plays with FIRE!

Amazing! best drummer ever

If you haven't seen this dude, google COOP3RDRUMM3R NOW. - railfan99

157 Mario Duplantier Mario Duplantier Mario Duplantier is a French musician and artist best known as the drummer of technical death metal band Gojira.

I am so disappointed in everyone who voted otherwise. Listen to the Gojira song "The Heaviest Matter in the Universe", and have your minds blown. Yes, he is the only one drumming. - ThatoneMetalhead

Wordless, just vote with the ear and feel

158 Jojo Mayer

Buddy Rich is god and Jojo is his son. Technical play at a high level.

159 Bill Kreutzmann

one of the best drummers, probably should be behind bonham as number three best drummer

Bill was extremely creative and innovative in the drum parts he created for The Grateful Dead... His part are intantly recognizable as are the Dead songs they are in... As part of the first band to use and highlight double drummers, he and Mickey Hart created that whole Jamband Genre style of drumming, that all past, present and future Jambands have and will rely on as their foundation. Their interactive drum solos are the stuff legends are made from. When I saw my first Dead show back in 1983, I was instantly hooked and am still a fan to this day, as well as a jamband drummer myself.
