Top 10 Dumbest Decisions Made by Comic Book Superheroes

A list of some of the DUMBEST decisions made by superheroes.
The Top Ten
1 Selling your marriage to Mephisto (Spider-Man: One More Day)

Bro, Spider-Man is suppose to be really smart (with a near genius IQ of 140), and yet he makes the dumb decision to make a deal with basically the devil (even for those who aren't PhD worthy, if you've read enough books or watched enough movies about that kind of thing, you already know that's not a good idea).

His Aunt May is dying, and the only way to bring her back is for Peter to sell his and Mary Jane's marriage to Mephisto... even though it would be better to let Aunt May go in peace.

2 NOT killing the Joker (Batman)

Every time Batman sends Joker to jail he always breaks out and causes destruction and someone usually ends up dead or severely injured.

Seriously, after everything the Joker has done... why is he still alive?

3 Spidey trying to catch Gwen with web (Spider-Man: The Night Gwen Stacy Died)

Spider-Man tries to catch Gwen as she falls off a bridge... but he accidentally caused her neck to break and she dies

4 Ms. Marvel follows the man who raped her (Avengers #200)
5 Night Thrasher throws Nova off a building (New Warriors)

It was only to re-ignite Nova's powers. It worked... but what would happen if it didn't?

Like the other guy said, what if his powers didn't reignite?

6 Iron Man telling the Mandarin his address (Iron Man 3)

I don't mind Tony having challenged Mandarin (err, Aldrich Killian), but it disappoints me that not only did he not PREPARE for that, but was super surprised when it DID happen. Like, you're one of the smartest characters in all of Marvel, you're telling me you didn't expect that while you were busy talking it up with Pepper?

I know Iron Man has an ego... but telling a terrorist your address is just idiotic!

7 Hypnotizing Mr. Krupp (The Adventures of Captain Underpants)

And that's how this whole madness started... now whenever Mr. Krupp hears someone snap their fingers,

8 Sending Jean Loring to Arkham Asylum (Identity Crisis)

Jean Loring murdered Sue Dibney... so Ray Palmer sends her to Arkham Asylum... yeah, because NO ONE EVER breaks out of Arkham... and it's not like the JOKER is there... oh wait!

9 Refusing to compromise (Watchmen)

Rorschach refuses to agree to Veidt's insane plan for world peace... so Dr. Manhattan kills him afterwards

10 The Creation of Ultron (Avengers: Age of Ultron)

Actually, this one isn't quite AS MUCH of a duh moment, but it probably wasn't very wise for someone who is basically a mad scientist (the comic version at least is, and I'm talking about Hank Pym here) to create a powerful AI robot. Usually when it comes to mad scientists, even if they're good guys, you know their craziness bounds to make them screw up their inventions a bit.

Hank Pym (Tony Stark in the movie) creates Ultron... it becomes sentient, and one of Marvel's most powerful villains

The Contenders
11 Mindwiping Batman (Identity Crisis #6)

The League decides to mindwipe Dr. Light so he would be less of a threat... and then they mindwipe Batman so he'd forget what they did.

12 Spider-Man revealing his identity to the world (Civil War)

Peter, you have one of, if not THE, biggest line-ups of villains in all of Marvel (the Goblins, Doctor Octopus, the Symbiotes, the Lizard, hell you apparently love stirring up trouble for arch-villains of other heroes as well, so they have almost as much beef with you, like Juggernaut, Kingpin, and Kraven). You're telling me you're willing to sacrifice your secret identity and risk the chance of any (or even ALL) of those villains to come after you and your loved ones?

13 Deciding to let his teenage self kill him (Cable)

We can all agree that's the worst move, Cable doesn't deserve that and it angered so much fans that Marvel just gave in and brought him back to life. And his death not only caused a lot of uproar with the fans, his death also impacted the characters, Deadpool is sad because his BFF is gone, his own daughter, Hope was very messed up (he literally dated for him like a mother, he's motherly so Hope losing him is like someone losing their mother), and Domino became depressed because he was her boyfriend and she did nothing but cry and spend her days in the bar drinking away her sorrows until she finally started dating Colossus because she can't do that forever. But even though Cable came back, phew, he is going to see a lot weird things, his gf has a new girlfriend and Wolverine is with his own parents, but the only weird thing he won't see is that Deadpool misses him and he needs his BFF, Cable because everyone needs their BFF!

14 Relying on Loki (Thor)
15 Opening the chest (Superman)
