Top 10 Dumbest Reasons People Hate Metallica

I have seen many dumb and ignorant comments towards hating Metallica mostly from Megadeth fans who despite the fact that the members of Metallica and Megadeth ended their rivarly over 15 years ago, they are still trying to trash on Metallica and claim Megadeth never did anything bad. Before i say anything i am NOT a hater of Megadeth in fact i actually do like them, but i prefer Metallica, it's my opinion and i have a right to it, you have a problem with that, tough, nothing you can do can change it, this list is pointing out the stupid reasons that people have for hating Metallica. I am perfectly fine if someone doesn't like Metallica, as long as you aren't a Megadeth fanboy who just craps on everything the band has done, and you respect the opinions to those who like the band and to the members of Metallica who work their butts off to preform for their many fans. I'm also fine if you like Megadeth over Metallica as long as you don't use any of these stupid reasons. Oh boy i can't wait for the army of butthurt Megadeth fans to claim that these reasons are actually valid reasons without giving a true reason as to why.
The Top Ten
1 They are sellouts

Yes they did sellout with the Black Album, you know who else did the exact the same thing to try and capture the same success as Metallica did with the black album? Megadeth, Countdown to Extinction was a departure from Thrash Metal to Heavy Metal with little bits of Thrash which is exactly the same thing Metallica did with the black album. Oh and you may say "Well Metallica sold out more cauze they made a Southern/Country Metal album " and Megadeth made Pop rock songs one of them even having a disco beat in them in the album Risk which is a bland and generic radio rock album only made for money, Mustaine even said it was a mistake to release Risk through the name Megadeth.

" Thus the backlash with Risk, because people expected that speed and thrashy kind of stuff. If that record would have been called the Dave Mustaine Project, people would have loved it. But because it said Megadeth, they expected Megadeth. And that was my mistake; I should have called it a ...more

2 All of their albums after...And Justice For All Suck because they aren't Thrash Metal

Oh wow just because those albums weren't Thrash Metal they apparently "suck" and Megadeth totally did not abondon thra- Oh wait they did the exact same thing Metallica did, they went from Heavy Metal with bits of Thrash (Countdown, Youthanasia) to very mainstream Heavy Metal and Hard Rock (Cryptic Writings) and then to Radio Rock/Pop Rock (Risk) oh but they did go back and so did Metallica but oh wait they went back to Mainstream Heavy Metal and Hard Rock again (Super Collider) some even go as far to say Death Magnetic and Hardwired suck and claim 'Metallica should stop trying to recapture their 80s thrash success" WHAT THE HELL, DO YOU WANT? do you want them to make Thrash Metal or Not? plus if it's a bad thing for Metallica to go back to thrash then it's bad for Megadeth too, the point I'm trying to make here is do not use this argument as a legitmite reason for hating Metallica, because it is very hypocritical to claim Metallica's more "mainstream" albums are bad because "they ...more

3 All their best songs were written by Dave Mustaine

This is so wrong and I'll tell you why here:

According to Metallica Wiki: Mustaine is credited on six Metallica songs, two of which he wrote mostly himself and four of which he contributed. Mustaine uses some of his Metallica riffs for Megadeth songs, making it easier to tell which parts he contributed to.

Songs where he was credited:

The Mechanix - found in several pre- Kill 'Em All Metallica demos, was written almost entirely by Mustaine alone, with lyrics about sex at a car mechanics. When he was kicked out, Hetfield wrote entirely new lyrics, and the rest of the band added an extra section, a bridge and a solo (all totalling an extra three minutes) - the end result was "The Four Horsemen".

Jump in the Fire - written largely by Mustaine, the song was originally, like "the Mechanix", about sex. Even when Mustaine was in the band, Hetfield and Ulrich helped him tweak it, hence why they are both credited alongside him.

Phantom Lord - Mustaine wrote ...more

4 They Kicked Dave Mustaine Out of the Band

And? He was fired because of his his alcoholism, drug abuse, overly aggressive behavior, they kicked him out because he was hard to work with, he even admitted he'd wish he had listened to them I 'm assuming no-one who uses this argument has ever seen the Some Kind of Monster documentary and is oblivious to the fact that both the members of Metallica and Mustaine ended their rivarily and became friends again. Also if they didn't kick Mustaine out of the band then Megadeth might not have existed so if anything you probably have to thank Metallica for giving us 2 great thrash bands 1 being themselves the other being Megadeth.

If Dave Mustaine wasn't kicked, there would be no Megadeth for you to rival with.

5 The napster controversy

According to Metallica Wiki:

Metallica filed a lawsuit against the company for copyright infringement and racketeering. In July 2000, he testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee after Metallica's entire catalogue, including the then-unfinished track " I Disappear " was found to be freely available for download on the service. The case was settled out-of-court, resulting in more than 300,000 Napster users being banned from the service. Since the Napster ordeal, Ulrich was quoted by LAUNCHcast as having some regrets:

“ I wish that I was more...you know, I felt kind of ambushed by the whole thing because I didn't really know enough about what we were getting ourselves into when we jumped. [...] We didn't know enough about the kind of grassroots thing, and what had been going on the last couple of months in the country as this whole new phenomenon was going on. We were just so stuck in our controlling ways of wanting to control everything that had to do with ...more

If anything, this is more of a reason to dislike Lars Ulrich

6 Lars Ulrich is a terrible drummer

Those who say he is a bad drummer are wrong, I mean sure he is not "the best drummer ever" that would go to someone like Mike Portnoy or Neil Peart but he is not a bad drummer at least he can play drums and keep a good rhythm with the songs and never miss a beat, so I don't understand why Lars is a "bad drummer" and if you say his ego/personality that has nothing to do with his drumming ability, while his ego and some of the things he has done are questionable at least Metallica was very stable and only had very few lineup changes but the same can't be said for Dave Mustaine with Megadeth, just look at the amount of members that were in Megadeth and how many of them were fired, it was because Dave was a hard person to work with so I think it's pretty dumb to hate Lars soley on his ego/personality. and to say "Metallica should kick out Lars" is ignorence since Lars was the one who wanted to form a band and he and James got together and thus Metallica was born. I think its prettty ...more

7 They wrote a country song

...and Megadeth wrote Pop Rock songs and Anthrax wrote Rap Rock songs so I don't see how this gives you a reason for hating Metallica plus it's only 1 song, you can't hate a band/artist based on one 'bad" song.

8 They're Overrated

Time for a drinking game, take a shot every time someone uses "[insert person/place/thing here] is overrated" and trys to pass it off as a legitimate reason for hating something, you'd be so wasted.

9 They collaborated with Lou Reed to make Lulu

Yes Lulu sucks, however a band making 1 bad album does not give you a valid reason to hate them, plus it was years ago and it they only preformed on the album, Lou Reed is the one to blame for it being bad since he wrote the lyrics and the music. Plus if 1 bad album is a valid reason to hate something then I could hate Megadeth because they made Risk and Super Collider both of which really suck and I'm not too big of a fan of Cryptic Writings either but obivously I don't hate them just because of 3 weak albums that would be stupid, just like hating Metallica based on mainly Lulu and St. Anger too.

10 They are popular

Being popular does not mean bad nor does it give you a reason to hate them, by this logic. I could use this reason for Megadeth too.

The Contenders
11 Every member a of Metallica is a scumbag

Then I guess that makes Dave Mustaine is one too, since he was in Metallica. And it doesn't explain why they are either.

To be honest, they all definitely had their bad moments. Except Trujillo, Trujillo is nice.

12 Kirk Hammett has to rely on a Wah Pedal in order to make a solo
