Easiest House Pets to Take Care Of

The Contenders: Page 2

21 Sea Monkeys

Sea monkeys can live two years and keep a family of sea monkeys going for more then a decade. There bowl, tank, or jar never has to be cleaned, infact they seem to prefer messy water. They do need salt water, but can survive much more than most creatures. Sea monkeys can eat special food that comes with a kit or yeast, sliced salami, and phytplankton. Did you know their eggs can survive 2 years out of water. In other words sea monkeys are perfect beginner pets.

I have gotten Sea Monkeys for Christmas for 2 years and they're SO EASY to take care of! All you have to do is feed them. It's so much fun to watch how fast they grow!

They may be small, but they are awesome

They don't take much caring for and I have to say they are pretty cool.

22 Mice Mice A mouse is a small rodent characteristically having a pointed snout, small rounded ears, a body-length scaly tail and a high breeding rate. The best known mouse species is the common house mouse. It is also a popular pet.

Mice are sweet pets. If cared for correctly, they can really get attached to their owners. They are pretty easy to train. I would say they're intermediate to care for but then again I don't think there's such as a simple pet unless it's like an ant or something.

Mice, if cared for properly are OK pets. They will still pee and poo on you no matter how "tame". The enclosure needs to be cleaned twice a week or they smell. Anyone that tells you otherwise has just gotten used to the stink. I worked at a pet store and cleaned the enclosure daily. They will eat their own young and can chew plastic cage sides to escape. The best route is a 10 gallon glass tank with a wire lid that cannot be reached. Pine shaving bedding(NEVER cedar), a free hanging water bottle, a paper towel tube, a plastic wheel and a small metal bowl for food and they'll be content.

I hated the idea of getting a rat but my dads girlfriend got one and they're actually pretty fun! The coolest thing I ever did with them was build a maze out of blocks and they ran through it. Still not as fun as a dog though.

I love mice they are so cute and fun

23 Caterpillar Caterpillar

I would just leave them because they become butterflies and should not live in a house.

Think about a butterfly or moth living for 20 days! 1

There amazing to wach

24 Rats Rats Rats are various medium-sized, long-tailed rodents of the superfamily Muroidea. "True rats" are members of the genus Rattus, the most important of which to humans are the black rat, Rattus rattus, and the brown rat, Rattus norvegicus.

My rats are my best friends. They will never hurt me and they are so sweet and playful. They are very easy to care for, but they do need attention daily

For such a small animal, rats are extraordinarily affectionate and intelligent. If handled when young, they absolutely LOVE being with children - people in general. So sweet on the shoulder, sniffing and tickling your ears!

Every one thinks bad of them but when you get to know rats are such little sweethearts!

25 Sugar Glider Sugar Glider The sugar glider is a small, omnivorous, arboreal, and nocturnal gliding possum belonging to the marsupial infraclass.

I have 8 and they haven't ever bitten me! Maybe a little nibble but it doesn't hurt. I love them and they are the cutest things ever. But yes very expensive. And you have to be commited.

They are very cute and nice but once in a while they will bite

They are really cute and so easy to take care of

How do you get one or two

26 Chinchilla Chinchilla Chinchillas are two species of crepuscular rodents, slightly larger and more robust than ground squirrels. They are native to the Andes mountains in South America and live in colonies called "herds" at high elevations up to 4,270 m.

Chinchillas are very loving and actually pretty active and social pets. But don't expect them to be cuddly, They usually aren't. They don't really smell bad at all if you keep their cages clean. Make sure you remember to give them dust baths too! They just can't be in very hot areas, If your house gets really hot during the summer maybe consider a different pet. Also, I wouldn't recommend them with smaller children unless they are VERY gentle. Chinchillas prefer quiet and calm homes with people who are willing to be gentle while handling them. Oh, And they love to climb!

They do not have to go to the vet, they are easy to clean, they do not smell, it is easy to pick up their poop, and, it is easy to catch them. They smart, funny, and you can even train them. They are also happy and playful.

Chinchillas are a breeze to take care of. They are one of the easiest pets to wash. Just put out a bowl full of chinchilla dust( volcanic ash) and watch him/her roll around in it. I think pet rock should be the easiest. Dogs are harder to take care of than rocks.

I want a chinchilla I asked my mom about it and she is planing on getting me one I am 15 years old and I love chinchilla's they are super I mean super cute and I would love to have one and if I do have one I will name it princess if it is a boy then I will name it bubbles I love to watch them play and watch them eat I would love to watch them because they are super cute

27 Ferret Ferret The ferret is the domesticated form of the European polecat, a mammal belonging to the same genus as the weasel, Mustela of the family Mustelidae.

Okay, NO.

Odor sprays are horribly unhealthy, as are water drops. Baths shouldn't be given and 4-8 hours of playtime. They smell, some have biting issues, and vet bills go SKY-HIGH when they are older. You can't own just one. You have to research good foods. They need large and expensive cages.

I love ferrets. Just one of my best friends is a ferret. They are cute and playful. But they need their ears cleaned out, teeth brushed, nails clipped, and fur groomed and they will FIGHT. They need a lot of toys or they can become depressed.

Wonderful? Yes. Friendly? Yes. Cute? Yes? Easy to care for? No.

They are beautiful creatures. But do require a lot of care. They love to be spoiled and cared for every second of the day. If you are planing to get one.. Make sure you are a stay at home person. They hate to be in there cages and love to roam. Every nook and cranny they can find they will explore. They are cute cuddly and warm. Need a best friend? Get one!

I held a ferret in a pet store the other day and it was so cute! It bit my hand a few times, but it did not hurt. Hamster bites hurt way more than a ferret. You have to buy a big cage, and take them out every day and play with them for 2 hours. You can also take them for walks. You can teach them tricks and even their names! You also need to buy them toys, a litter box, hammocks or tunnels with fur to let them rest and sleep, and if you do not like the smell of them, pet stores (sweet pets is reccomended) sell odor remover that you simply spray on the ferret. You also have to buy soap and give them baths. Ferrets are most fun!

You accutally can't get the smeel out of ferrets so spend all your money but just a heads up it's their sent and you can get rid of it its just like a fish you can't get rid of their sent

28 Gerbil A gerbil is a small mammal of the order Rodentia. Once known simply as "desert rats", the gerbil subfamily includes about 110 species of African, Indian, and Asian rodents, including sand rats and jirds, all of which are adapted to arid habitats.

My Sister has 2 gerbils, I disagree with the person saying there Smelly and poo a lot, Ok, Yes they poo, but like 8 times a day and they are super small and they don't smell, the pee is what smells, and you don't even notice any bad smells, the only way you could possibly call this a "smelly pet" is if this is the only pet you've ever owned. the only reason I wish she hadn't gotten them is because 1-they bite, so don't buy one thinking you can cuddle it for an hour because you can sorta only hold them for about 12 seconds. 2- and, I would read this one before you go out an buy one, a gerbils natural instinct to do this, there not devil gerbils, and once you think about it, it proves how smart a gerbil is. okay, so when a gerbil dies, if there's another gerbil in the tank (witch there should be) a gerbils instinct is to... um, ok bear with me, there instinct when a gerbil dies is to eat the parts that would bring disease to the "borrow" to protect the others, they do Not Kill the ...more

Gerbils are really easy to take care of because you only have to clean their cage once a weak. They are very playful and love people.

Gerbils are really easy to care for and there really fun too

To the person saying they only need small cages, you're so horribly wrong. Gerbils need a gerbilarium with lots of room to dig and should never be kept on their own. I have two lovely girls and a diploma in animal care and management and I can say that gerbils are very friendly

29 Pig Pig A pig is any of the animals in the genus Sus, within the Suidae family of even-toed ungulates. Pigs include the domestic pig and its ancestor, the common Eurasian wild boar, along with other species; related creatures outside the genus include the peccary, the babirusa, and the warthog.

Best thing ever and really easy to take care of

I want a pig more than anything in the world!

Pigs = awesome and cute

Pigs are adorable and cute pets to have I know lots of people don't apron on me but they are sooo nice

30 Gecko Gecko Geckos are lizards belonging to the infraorder Gekkota, found in warm climates throughout the world. They range from 1.6 to 60 cm.

I have a leopard gecko and she's partially blind so I have to feed her which still only takes like 20 minutes. They're super easy to look after and my leo loves having her head rubbed and they're so cheap to feed. I bought a tank twice the recommended size to make sure she has space. You can find cheap secondhand tanks anywhere and the total initial cost of mine was 250 euro. 100 for the gecko.

They barely need any food and are pretty adorable once you get to know them!

Adorable, and they don't smell at all of ourse you have to clean there cage but they don't carry a disease

32 Chicken Chicken The chicken is a type of domesticated fowl, a subspecies of the red junglefowl. It is one of the most common and widespread domestic animals, with a population of more than 19 billion as of 2011.

My sister had 3 chickens. It was great. They used to sit in her pot plants and sit on our laps for pats. The best thing is: free eggs!

Chickens are awesome I don't have one but have been researching for years. I would recommend hens, and my fave breed are silkies. They are so soft! Would definitely recommend.

Give food and water, a garden to run around in and free alarm clock!

Chickens are pretty easy to take care of though if you get them when there little it is good to let them play around that will make them good with people when they are older you need to clean there cage around every 2-4 days depending on how many chickens you have also they will not lay eggs if they are on there own so get at leases three I have four and They are so so so sweet chickens are smart animals you can train them to come when you call them I love chickens I hope you do to

33 Axolotl Axolotl

They are awesome pets to watch. I have four they are super easy to take care of although they need a big tank. It costs a bit to start of after that its just food and water conditioner. They only need to be feed three times a week, so you can go away for a weekend come back and they're fine.

Axolotls have great personalities. They are more of a commitment though. Mine are hand fed daily. I keep them at work, so weekends and vacations can be tricky. They keep my guppy population manageable.

They are the same of keeping goldfish but you have to use sand and hand feed them. They do grow big but so do goldfish. They should have axolotls at fairs.

34 Dwarf Hamster

I have a Chinese dwarf hamster named Latte who I got almost 2 years ago. They are the sweetest hamsters ever! They are very easy to take care of you simply have to make sure they have a 360" cage, a water bottle, a wheel ( not wired), hideouts, a hamsterball, food ( ox bow is a great brand), bedding ( Do not use pine), a hamster bath, Tons of chews, treats, and other accessories. That may seem like a lot but it is inexpensive. My total came to about $90 but it was worth it! My hamster is so loving unlike the Syrian hamsters who bite constantly. Latte has never bit me and loves everything and everyone, I love her being so content!

I love mine! She is really sweet and never bites. She's a winter white and adorable. Just make sure you get a cage that's 360 square inches! Pet shop cages usually are not suitable for them.

I'm an adult who adopted an abandoned dwarf winter white hamster as a middle aged adult. Why everyone considers these pets only for children is odd. In fact, I think they are superb pets for adults who work all day while hamsters sleep. Come home from a long day at work and there's a little furball to greet you.

They are super sweet, but need time to get acquainted with new owners can be litter trained and are not expensive!

35 Bearded Dragon Bearded Dragon

Get along with humans very well. Although, you will have to bath them every day whilst young, twice a week when older, supply them constantly with fresh greens and water and you might have to feed juveniles up to seven locusts a day however only twice a week when older. How many should be fed depends on size of locusts. Very active lizards and aren't nocturnal.

My bff has a beardie named Ryu, her last one Natsu died, and both were very friendly. No nips or bites but they got a little fidgety when first out of enclosure. They can smell bad if not cleaned enough and there feces are awful but they are as cute as puppies. They have different personalities and can be real lap dogs. If I could afford one I'd have him in a heartbeat. The initial cost is expensive but after they're all set you can spend less than 300 a year on them, food and water costs. Would recomend for anyone willing to spend at LEAST an hour every day with them, but they can live comfortably without any interaction besides feeding.

I don't have one but I know they like humans

My lizzy hisss

36 Crested Gecko

Awesome doesn't require any heating sand love being held, they are very jump though, they can thrive on one food source, baby food, great creatures, beginner level, my mom doesn't like pets but we went to the pet store and saw one for 40! We went back a week later and bought two more we kept getting more and breed them in total we have 13 and selling them for 20 I've became a hit! Don't worry I don't keep the money for my self I use it for their food I'm not shallow they even hang on my shirt while I do homework and did an essay on them and got a as my final grade Overrall you need these guys in your life

I have a crested gecko and they are adorable, easy and you barely do any chores for them!

They're better than Leo geckos they don't need to eat bugs,

37 Budgerigar Budgerigar The budgerigar, also known as the common pet parakeet or shell parakeet and informally nicknamed the budgie, is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot.

A budgy is a really cute bird that is super easy to take care of and I recommend it to everyone that wants or likes birds

These birds require a lot of attention and are hard to take care of. I have 2 myself, and they need a lot of treatment to become good pets. If you are thinking about getting one, do a lot of research to make sure they are the right pet for you!

Cool

I have 2 budgies of my own and I love them. They are
super easy to take of and they are super sweet as well. Training them are not that hard just ask your local pert store how. The whistling they make are sometimes very relaxing. They do require attention but once they are trained they are very good pets. I love mine and if you are looking for an easy pet and you love birds I do recommend getting budgies

38 Stick Insect

There really easy to care for! Just leaves in a tank with ventilation and change the habitat every week.

I owned a stick insect and I think they are easy to look after all u need is leaves and water

I love them so

40 Terrapin

They may not be a furry cuddly pet but they are very cool and adorable, they are easy to keep as well and take no effort to keep at all however they do stink a little

All you need is a big space for it to live in and a huge rock. They are smart and they recognize you as their owner.

Terrapins are scaly but so adorable

They grow so big so fast!
