Top 10 Edgelords in Rock MusicRedrocm Whether it be looks, lyrics or performances, these people are enough to make rock dangerous again.
It doesn't feature ones that are blatantly harmful to society like GG Allin and Varg Vikernes.
The Top Ten
Say what you will about him, but you can't deny that he's really edgy. He's like a darker version of Alice Cooper. - Redrocm
Frontman of Rammstein. The band is known for their sexually graphic lyrics, music videos and live performances. - Redrocm
I wouldn't put him very high because the crazy things he did were just side effects of drug abuse and not an artistic expression of "edge" in his music. - Metal_Treasure
Did many crazy things in his career like biting a bat's head and even snorting a line of fire ants. - Redrocm
Former frontman of Cannibal Corpse, who are known for their extremely violent and graphic lyrics and album covers (which I'm sure are pretty hard to find in album stores for obvious reasons). - Redrocm
Frontman of thrash metal band Slayer. They're known for their satanic lyrics which are even more blasphemous than Mercyful Fate (ironically though, Araya himself is Catholic. He states that he does not let Slayer's lyrics interfer with his faith). - Redrocm
Known for his horror-themed lyrics and music videos. - Redrocm
Before he went solo he was the frontman of Mercyful Fate, who were known for their satanic lyrics. Now he just writes horror-themed concept albums. - Redrocm
Frontman of NIN. They're known for their vulgar lyrics about drugs, sex and depression. - Redrocm
I think he should be higher than Marilyn Manson, who is currently at #1, because Marilyn Manson copied namely Alice Cooper. - Metal_Treasure
@Metal_Treasure-I know. I just Manson higher because he's darker than Alice. - Redrocm
Without Alice Cooper, none of the other names listed here would have existed.
He may be tamed by today's standards but he definitely was hot topic back in the old days. - Redrocm
Frontman of Ministry, one of the pioneers of industrial metal (a lot of artists in the genre, including them, are known for their explicit lyrics and weird music videos). - Redrocm
The Original Edge Lord of Rock. This guy made one of the darkest Psych albums of the late 60s, and also inspired a lot of Shock Rockers Today. Seriously this guy went on stage with a mask which he set on fire, and also put on black and white face paint on before Kiss even thought of doing that. This guy was ahead of his time, and he basically invented the shock rocker thing. - RogerWatersfan1999
Ooh, yes! Great addition. - Gg2000
Dead defines the term, Edgelord in regards to the Rock and Metal music industry.
Can't get any edgier by wearing buried clothing, smelling a dead crow, cutting yourself on stage and writing a suicide note before doing the deed. - CrimsonShark
Euronymous isn't too far behind to Dead either. His misanthropic worldview, behavior, control-freak actions and generally unpleasant attitude makes up for it.
Also, he could have killed Varg Vikernes. Key word: "Could". - CrimsonShark
All he does is complain about why he doesn't like religion 24/7, if Nu Metal singers can be called out for being edgy about being misunderstood or angsty, then I think the same complaint can be made for this douchebag. - CaptainMowzker
