Old characters in movies are often portrayed as wise, or sometimes as grumpy and a bit crazy. Note that by "elderly" I mean an old man or woman above the age of 60 and that has a mix of grey and white hair (unless the character is bald or something else). 1 Gandalf (Lord of the Rings) Gandalf the Grey, later known as Gandalf the White, is a fictional character and one of the protagonists in J. R. R. Tolkien's novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He was an Istar, sent by the West in the Third Age to combat the threat of Sauron, as well as leader of the Fellowship of the Ring and the army of the West. He is portrayed by Ian McKellen in the live action movies.

Easily number one. Everyone knows who Gandalf is. And he's had more impact in film and TV history than most characters on this list.

The most iconic for sure and I think he's the oldest on this list. If I remember correctly, he's like over 2,000 years old!

2 Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars) Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, played by Sir Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor.

Obviously, this item refers to the Obi-Wan we see in the original trilogy and not the one in the prequel trilogy as the character is much younger here.

He is a really good character, who is very powerful

He is just awesome.

10 Carl Fredricksen (Up) Carl Fredricksen is the protagonist of Disney-Pixar's 2009 animated feature film Up. He's a retired balloon salesman who, at the age of 78, is forced to leave the house he and his late wife Ellie built together. He was voiced by Ed Asner.

I watched this movie so many times. Fredricksen is such a good characters.
