Top Ten Electronic Music Songs of 2019

The Top Ten
1 Island - Seven Lions, Wooli & Trivecta

Holy crap it's good. I especially love the combination of different genres and styles, from the chillstep-y guitar and female pop vocals in the intro, to the amazing trance buildup, to Seven Lions' signature, grand melodic dubstep, to the surprise breakdown with the grimy, growling 808's. I love it.

You get the euphoric Seven Lions feel that just lifts you. Then you get Trivecta's heavy signature bassline and it goes together beautifully.

I am in awe of this song. It's euphonious, enthralling and poignant.

I listened to it I think yesterday and it’s amazing. I love the revitalizing of trance and Seven Lions’ unique style of combing trance, dubstep, and some house music.

2 Drifters - Feint
3 Infected Reality - Chrizzlix & Psyfiction
4 Solina - Oliver Smith
5 Born in the Wild - Glenn Morrison
6 The Government - Stonebank

Nice that we get some proper bouncy hardcore.

7 Deja Rendezvu - Manics
8 Ultraviolet Rainbow - Chrome Sparks
9 Diamond - Niviro
10 Robots - Snake Eyes
The Contenders
11 U Got Me - Bossfight

It's about to drop, drop, drop...

12 Pray - Illenium

Illenium never ceases to amaze me, and this is no exception. Outstanding melodic dupstep that kind of sounds Seven Lions-esque to me. Heck, the whole song reminds me of the Seven Lions track from earlier this year, Island. Great lyrics and vocals as well. Illenium has done it again.

13 Face My Fears - Hikaru Utada & Skrillex
14 Rise from the Dead - Dirtyphonics
15 Panama - Giuseppe Ottaviani
16 Stratocumulus - Marambá
17 Polyphobia - deadmau5

A terrific round two of last July's Monophobia. Doesn't quite capture the aesthetics of Monophobia, but it's still amazing.

18 Lonely for You (Club Mix) - Armin Van Buuren
19 Danger - Obsidia
20 Internet Boy - Dion Timmer
21 Blastin' 'em - Panda Eyes
22 Your Reckless Heart - Joel Hirsch & Sara Skinner
23 Lockdown - The Brig
24 Dark Age - Rezz

I like Rezz and her music, but that doesn't mean there aren't things she could do better. One of those things is the fact that most of her songs are starting to sound the same to me. If she wants to keep an audience, she needs to change her formula up a bit. Because of this, I had low expectations for this new single, but Dark Ages has thankfully surpassed those expectations. The use of a guitar sample is a very nice change of pace, the song is rhythmically interesting at times, and Rezz's signature spooky leads and heavy bass are great as always. For the first time since Nightmare on Rezz Street, I am exited for a new Rezz release. We'll see how the rest of this upcoming EP holds up.

25 Dream Technician - Lost in Space
